I'm all for it; should get a hell of a lot more activity in the RP section of the site. :D nice idea.

I second that :)

I don't pay attention to RP and News sections of the site any more, but shouldn't this be ever 6 months instead of annual?

As not to create to much work for myself, not tire the possible participants with to many contests, and to rip off the more professional, real awards.

This sounds like a pretty neat idea.  Though I don't participate in RP activities, this seems like it would make for better role-play in the future.

When you mentioned winners mentioning their honors in their sigs, I thought about making some signature awards myself for the winners.  What do you think?

As so happens, the thought of asking you about just that has crossed my mind several times. Check your PM-inbox.

Guest Mr. Mario

So let me get this striaght, when November arrives, you'll create some polls on users that have been nominated that the other people think should win that award, like this:

WHO WOULD WIN THE AWARD FOR BEST MALE CHARACTER?

Ris Grestar - Ris, Tyr

DRL - Decker

Onewingedangel92302 - Scott

Arashikage - Arashikage

crazyfooinc - Zeke

Nick1349 - Gearhart

Mr. Nintendo - Norman J. Dark

Then the people that aren't one of the nomines (thats cheating if nomines vote themselfs) would cast their vote and we wait to see who won. Am I right?

Not so. A public voting system using a standard poll is to easy to exploit, and we have no control on if someone decided to vote for themself, or have registered several accounts just for the sake of voting themself or a friend up to the top.

As it is now, it looks like that somewhere around late December/early January, nominations will open. Whether or not one will be able to nominate one self, or have to be nominated by others, I'm still evaluating.

After the nomination period is over, it will open up for the judging process. Two options seems to be open at the moment. Either one where the members of SF-O can vote on their favorites in each category trough sending a PM to the judge(s). Who will be judge, I'm still deciding upon. Quite sure it won't be me at least.

The other option is by leaving the decision up to a panel of qualified judges. After the public nominations, they will be locked inside a room and not allowed food or water until they have made up their decision, which they will broadcast to the world by sending colored smoke up the chimney. Or something like that, still working on it.

The results will be revealed to the public somewhere mid-early January if everything goes according to plan.

And to remove all shadow of doubt among those who have asked, as long as you have made one single roleplaying post during the entire year of 2010, you are eligible for the contest.

Okay, as a new year is drawing ever closer, I think it's about time for a reminder about this contest, which I still intend to follow trough on. Keep roleplaying, and roleplay good!

Also, if someones interested in acting as judge(s), feel free to send me a PM any time. You'll have to possess a slight understanding of roleplaying, and what makes for properly good roleplaying, and what does not. Of course, judges will not be eligible for this contest.

Yeah...I won't be a judge for this, I just don't think I have what it takes to become a judge. Though I'll probably be participating (Unless I did something bad in a RP.), I'm always on the lookout to seeing this happen.

Okay, it's about time I got back to it.

Since only one person have offered themself as a judge in the contest, Nick1349, we'll be probably be making it a voting system. Where people can send in their votes trough PM to him, he'll sum them up, and then after a set date reveal the winners of the respective categories. Unless someone here is strictly against it, and have a good reason why it shouldn't be done like this, we'll be following this model.

I'll be back later with more information on the voting process. Stay tuned!

I would ask for people not to send their votes just yet until I hear a bit more from Asper of what he is actually looking for as in the process.

I personally would like little info on why they were given the award, just so I can write some reasoning stuff to make it a little cooler for those who win rather  than just say, "These people won this, now MOVE ON!!!!!!" Lol.

Also, be sure you make sure that you make sure you put the right character to the right player. XD This is an easy thing to mistake. I know most [95%] of the characters and their owners, but I also mess up, so just save me a little slack. Thanks.

Good call Nick, I'm sure you'll prove to be just the right man for the job.

Now, as to when the voting starts ends, I've opted for the gap to be between 9. January, 00.00 GMT, and til 16. January, 23.59. If you receive any votes outside this gap Nick, then please discard them. You should however notice the sender about it, so he/she knows the vote didn't get trough.

The PM votes you send should follow some simple rules, to ease Nicks job as much as possible. The PM itself should be titled:

Foxcar Roleplaying Awards 2010

The PM shall contain a filled-out version of this form. Though, when I say filled out, know that you don't need to vote in all of the categories.

Best portrayal of male character: Name of roleplayer, as Name of character, in Name of roleplay.

Best portrayal of female character: Name of roleplayer, as Name of character, in Name of roleplay.

Best portrayal of antagonist: Name of roleplayer, as Name of character, in Name of roleplay.

Best portrayal of newcomer: Name of roleplayer, as Name of character, in Name of roleplay.

Then some guidelines. I might expand on these before the voting starts, as I might have forgotten a couple of things.

1. You don't need to vote in all categories. Better stay neutral if you can't come up with someone who truly deserves it, than to just randomly pick someone to fill the space.

2. You can vote for the same roleplayer in multiple categories, as long as that roleplayer fullfills the requirements for that category.

3. One shall not vote for one self, no matter what category. I also ask that you strive to make your decisions as unbiased as possible. Being voted forth because you have many friends, and not because you're a very good roleplayer, just doesn't give the same feeling of acomplisment. One's only fooling oneself.

4. When deciding the winner of each respective category, only the name of the roleplayer will count. What characters they played as, and what roleplay that was in, will only be counted up afterwards, and the ones coming up the most being the ones the winner will be credited for.

5. Some info on who's eligble for the various categories.

  • Best portrayal of male character: This person has roleplayed as a male character on SF-O in the duration of 2010.

  • Best portrayal of female character: This person has roleplayed as a female character on SF-O in the duration of 2010.

  • Best portrayal of antagonist: This person has roleplayed as an antagonist/bad-buy on SF-O in the duration of 2010.

  • Best newcomer: This person first started roleplaying on SF-O in 2010.

Star Fox-Online's "Foxcar" Role Playing Awards!

The Star Fox Online's "Foxcar" Role Playing Awards are brought to you by... Well, me. ....I'm not paid enough for this job. Annnnnywhooooo, let's start our listing of awards for the one that goes to the best portrayal of a male character.

male_symbol.bmpBest Portrayal Of A Male Character: There are surprisingly two winners for this very masculine award. The first person awarded this achievement has not been seen in the Role Playing section for quite some time. Never the less, this very manly man strutted his stuff when it came to his times in the Star Fox: The Next Generation, which nevertheless won him this award. The first winner for this award goes to, Showtime!!!! [Character Won: Silver Phoenix]

But we can never forget this second member who has won this prestigious award. Although much more recently known than our last winner, Showtime, he too portrayed the earnings of a great male character. He made people laugh, he made them cry, he also went through many unorthodox phases, but all together, it built his skills that helped him get here. This user makes sure to Role Play with people, even if they may be annoying, or a nuisance, making sure to give others a second chance. The second winner of the Best Portrayal of a Male Character is, Crazyfooinc!!!! [Character Won: Zeke Thompson]

female-symbol_design.pngBest Portrayal Of A Female Character: Well, Just like the one before, there happens to be two winners again, but why not?! It's great to see some more females rather than the usual flow of males in here! Any who, on with the show. The first winner to this award is someone we all know, and if you don't, I don't know why the heck you are even in this section! This lovely lady has the writing skills of that beyond normal fan fictions and others around her, giving those who see her characters and descriptive writing the feel of it taking you right to the scene. Although she too was mainly only seen in Star Fox: The Next Generation, her impact left wide enough a score to earn her this spot. The first award goes too, Fira-Astrali!!!! [Character Won: Freya O'Donnell]

Now then, this second lovely lady cannot be forgotten either. And just like Fira-Astrali, although she hasn't role played much on the site, her impact was wide enough to win her the award of feminism. This user makes sure to be fair to all, and learns on the spot quite well, while still sticking to character all at the same time. Her ideas and they way she puts them forward are truly something to be looked at as a goal for most who role play on this site. I am sure we are all glad she has given her time to make role playing fun for some of us. And with that said, the second winner to this award is, Redeemer!!!! [Character Won: Freya]

Dark-Evil-41164.jpgBest Portrayal Of An Antagonist: What makes a character an, "Antagonist"? Do they have to be evil per se? Definitely not, but they sure as heck are a thorn in the hero's side. And one person was felt to portray a great job at just that. In his role plays, he made sure never to give the characters any slack when it came to overcoming the odds and succeeding with their goal. And for the most part, this user is well known through the role Play section with the countless Role Play Requests he sent in, and made sure to have fun with. He is definitely a classical sorta guy when it comes to role playing. The one, and only, winner of this annoyance to the hero's award, goes to, Tiberius!!!! [Character Won: Malon]

Noob.gifBest Portrayal Of A Newcomer: The award goes to who the role players of this site felt did the best job at overcoming odds and doing an overall well job at role playing in a new environment. There were many who easily could have been into this section, quite actually most of the role players you see along the site today! But this one was chosen out of all of them. He has his moments of slipping up, as we all do, but in the end, he makes sure to have a fun time, and that others around him have a great time as well. We need role players like that now a days, and we are glad to have him as one of our members. Countless slip ups, goals, and accomplishments make this award go to, Emperoroflylat!!!! [Character Won: Sanford]

Well, folks. That's it for this years award. If you feel that you should have gotten one of the awards, there is always next year, so make sure to go out there and show some great interaction and role playing!  :friends: This is Nick1349, your host, signing off!

Note: Trying to pass of as someone who have won an RP award, be it this or future ones, will not be tolerated.

Okay well did I actually get the best newcomer reward then? I ask this because when I logged on my avatar was different so either a staff member changed it, some glitch happened, or someone unknown changed it against my will.

Never mind, I see Nick's post now.
