They should have made this into a anime series. Instead of an intro.

Really guys, Battle Network? Thats babies Megaman, with card games.

What about the good arcade stuff? Classic, X, and even Legends? :(

Battle network FTW!  :D

I liked battle network, it was like being a living Norton Antivirus.

Nothing against the originals, they were great 2D action platforming. :)

I mean, BN wasn't -bad- per see (it sure as hell isn't STAR FORCE), but... yeah. We need more oooold school in here!

Lemme see..

Well, the first Megaman that I saw was Legends. It was one of the great adventure-type games when it's released. Suddenly I felt it was a bit underrated.

A few weeks later I learned about X and Zero. I was like, 'WOW!' when I saw the great Zero games.

Then a few years later, Battle Network came. I was amazed at how CAPCOM was able to change the system of gameplay, but keep the series popular, intact, and great.

It was only a matter of time before I saw Maverick Hunter X. I played it on my friend's PSP, and somehow I became a fan of Vile.

Then suddenly Star Force came out, and I hastened to buy it. I was great at the Star force games, especially the first three.

Then, last year, the ZX games attracted me. It was amazing how they were able to make a Megaman game that big. The only downside with Advent is that the other Mega 'men' were baddies the whole game. It wuld have been cooler if all Mega 'men' had formed a great team.

The latest game that I played on my friend's PSP was Powered Up. It has nice graphics, but the characters look like babies.

Games I played:

1. Megaman Legends

2. Megaman Battle Natwork 5: Team Protoman

3. Megaman Star Force: Pegasus, Dragon

4. Megaman Star Force 3: Black Ace

5. Megaman Maverick Hunter X

6. Megaman: Powered Up

Who here has played Megaman Battle Network 3?

I have. My first Battle network game in fact. And I loved it.

I also played Battle Network 4: Blue Moon and that was awesome as well. I recently got rid of it along with the rest of my GBA games though, since I'm preparing for my transition to the 3DS.

Card games kick serious ass this day and age Bro. Get with the times.

And the Battle Network Series is a hell of lot better than than the Legends series. Those games need to choke on something unmentionable.

I actually think I like BN better than the classic, X, and Zero series. But those games are pretty kickass themselves so it's pretty close.

Wait......THE Megaman 7? That was one of the best Classic Megaman games good sir. Minus the part of Wily being a cheap ass boss, but it was epic nonetheless

First of all, Legends was Keiji Inafume's FAVORITE of the series.

Second of all, Mega Man 7 was a damn 8 bit quality game on a 16 bit quality console that brought less to the table than the 3, count them, THREE Megaman X games that came before it (one of which came out the same year as it). It was a rehash of what we already saw on Megaman 6 and 5 and 4, just with nicer sprites. As  stand alone game, it was merely ok by the standards of the day, and as a Megaman game, it was incredibly dissapointing.

Gonna have to agree on that, I personally didin't like 7 out of all the classic Megaman games I've played.

......Who the hell cares what Keiji Inafume thinks? He's the creator of the megaman series....so what? Legends had horrible controls, terrible voice acting and not to mention a weak plot.  The only thing that Legends really had going for it, was that it was in 3-D which was the only reason I basically tried it to begin with. It saddens me to think now, that many MM fans don't even want a 3-D game at this point due to the Craptastic-ness of that specific series.

As for Megaman 7....whatever floats your boat dude. I personally never played 4, 5, 6 in their entirety so maybe I don't know what I'm talking about when it comes to "New Features" shinbiz. But hey I thought it was cool, and even though the Megaman X games were cooler....phffft. He was freakin Megaman X. Of course he's gonna have a more badass game than last year's model of the blue bomber.  All in all though I STILL wouldn't say it needs to be shunned. It's a fun game to play if you hadn't noticed.

I found the controls to be adequete, and Megaman -never- had a strong plot, and never had stellar voice acting. So yeah. And don't want another 3-D Megaman? All my friends would give their left arm and leg for a Legends 3 (damn you cliffhanger ending!).

And Classic Megaman hasn't had any innovations since Megaman 3 and 4, where we got the "slide" and "charge shot", as well as Rush. This isn't what floats my boat, this is Capcom trying to sell me a last generation, 5 year old game on a current generation console, which had less to offer than THREE previous games of the same franchise that came out before it. It isn't about Megaman X being "cool", its about how GOOD it played. It was fast paced, tightly controlled, and offered excellent level design and challenge. Megaman 7 had none of this, and it came out in 1994, which was well into the SNES' lifetime.

Please. The controls were awful, and they weren't even the type you can get accustomed to easily with time. Classic Megaman games may have been pretty blunt in their plots, but the Battle Network series had way better plots than Legends. And correct me if I'm wrong but the VAing in the recent Megaman X games aren't half bad are they? Sure there was that crap in Megaman 8, but that's no excuse for thinking Legends was a good game. And it's not the fans fear the "3-D" of the game. They fear what will BECOME of the 3-D game, like what happened to Legends. You and your friends may like the series, but I can honestly say you all are the first I heard that do.

Plus Megaman 7 played good for me. I liked it, and games don't always need new features for me to enjoy it.

Awful? You strafe, you move, you shoot, you jump. It was typical FPS-esque controls. I adapted to them by the time you beat the first boss. As for Battle Nets plots, thats irrelevant, because you said Legends' plot was weak, which I point out is redundant to mention because all the Megaman games have pretty weak plots (except imo the Zero series). This also applies to the voice acting, which is also generally universally bad. The last MMX game was Command Mission, and it ranks up as just "ok". (or the MMX remake on the PSP, which I will admit had all around solid acting, but either way thats 1 or 2 games out of several franchises all made of 5+ games each almost.) I wasn't saying it makes Legends "good", I'm saying thats a poor strike against Legends when it is a badge the entire series as a whole carries.

Megaman 7 did play good. For a game that should have came out in 1989. It didn't, though, it came out in 1995 (one year before the N64), and again, by this time 1: the N-E-S games had basically perfected this damn formula, and MM7 did NOTHING NEW WITH IT despite being 5 years into a NEW CONSOLES LIFE, and 2: had games that DID take advantage of the console it was on, THREE OF THEM, one of which came out the same year as it did, since 1993.

Again, as a stand alone game, MM7 is "ok". But as a Megaman entry, it fails on every level, being a last generation game at the end of a current generation console's lifetime, and failing to deliver what had previously been delivered by other games of the same franchise 3 times over.

Trying to dodge was near damn impossible, and while strafing may be good for uses in combat it's a damn pain to use it to move around normally EVERYWHERE. Lock on was terrible and didn't really do much good most of the time, it was hard to rotate the camera.....dude there is no way your getting me to believe what you said. I just pointed out all those things in five seconds. When controls are that bad, you have to admit they're horribe. Otherwise your just in Fanboyish Denial.

And about the classic Megaman plots. I said they were "blunt" not weak. Mario goes to save Princess Peach from Bowser. Phft. Fox goes to avenge his father by fighting Andross. Phffft. Link saves Zelda a "nother" princess from a Pig Monster. PHFFFFTT.

Look. All those games were blunt. And they fit for the times. Video games were a new thing and a good storyline was not really needed. But later on these games improved on their plots. Sure some are still a bit blunt, (*coughMariocough*) but a lot of it can be made up for it in excellent gameplay which LEGENDS did NOT have. Also not to mention Megaman Legends was RPGish. Now good storylines aren't drastically expected in platformers and arcade shooters, but if it was one genre it was expected in it'd be in RPGs. (*Examples are Legend of Zelda and Metroid. These are games that aren't really RPGs in nature, but carry enough RPG elements for it to be RPGish.*) Megaman Legends's plot was pretty weak and somewhat blunt even though there was kind of a plot twist at the end. But it lacked substance. Overall I could say I would overlook it if controls and gameplay were decent, but they're not. And when they aren't look for at least an interesting plot line, which was never found. I dunno about Legends 2. I honestly never played it after my scarring with the first one. But I didn't hear good things about it, so from "my" (and I stress that word) viewpoint I'm considering it not really an improvement of the original.

As for Megaman 7, I didn't play it till the Gamecube was around. So I may have mentioned this earlier, but I have no clue about how it lacked in "new features" and how it was bad for it's "time". From playing the older Megaman titles I have to say it's a classic IMO but I'm not disagreeing with the some of the statements you made.

Dodging wasn't hard. Maybe you should replay the game again, especially since Legends was loved when it was released, and a while ago was still loved in retrospective reviews. You could always switch the controls when you were in town so that the shoulder buttons strafed you (takes all of 5 seconds), but personally I was never bothered by it. The camera can't be a problem, because it was designed in a way so that it doesn't get caught on walls, or do those annoying extreme zoom ins. This is most obvious when you first go to the wall market at the early game.

RPGish doesn't mean anything. Castlevania Symophony of the Night was RPGish and it had the most minimalist excuse plot I've seen, not to mention Legends wasn't a full-blown RPG, it just had some elements from it.

And if you payed 7 on the damn Collection Disc, you should all the more see my point, considering its right there beside the other 6 games that came before it. Its not a classic. A classic has to deliver something new and fresh and be memorable and well loved. Megaman 7 was a rushed gamed (Capcom themselves said so), and its general impact on the gaming world in 1995 was "ehhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh". The same happened with Megaman 8 too, and thats why Megaman vanished from our lives until 9 came out as a DLC and decided to make things right.

No. I have no interests in play Legends again. It was awful. My mind is made.

And uhhhh....no I did not play the Collection disk. If I had that I reckon I would have been able to play 4, 5, and 6 eh? I actually have had serious thoughts about getting it, but was a little put off by it on it's Wikipedia article. I meant the Gamecube was out and about when I first played it.

Has anyone tried Megaman: Power fighters the arcade game on Anniversary collection? It's pretty good if you ask me...if it was released in America, I'm sure the game would eat up your credits.

Nope, haven't played that one.

The arguement over Legends though has gotten me playing that again, however. I'm at the Island underground zone now. Forgot how hard the bosses were in this game.

Is Legends that good?

If you don't turn off the game in the first level because of the controls (they're good controls but disorienting at first) and learn to adjust to them, then yes, its very good. Also, have a heart for adventure. A lot of damn adventure. There is a HUGE amount of shit to find in the game, and most of its hidden in its huge as hell underground maze system.
