".....it's.....it's fine.  I had to leave....a lot.......behind....even some teammates.", Zeke managed to stutter before he laid his muzzle on the table.

"..." Gearhart saw him like this and didn't enjoy it. "It's fine, don't continue. It was a stupid question..." He said now fully regretting the topic change.

"...it's fine...", Zeke replied, "Don't.....Don't worry about it", He said in faked joyful tone.

Gearhart knew he was using a fake tone. It reminded him of a few years back. He didn't exactly know how to comfort Zeke. Then he asked, "You got to go to their funerals, though, right?"

"......there......wasn't enough left for a funeral", Zeke replied with a wavering voice as he looked away.

Gearhart was saddened by his response. He had a question he wanted to ask, but was scared that the answer might make Zeke more sad depending on what happened. He stayed silent, not sure of what to say.

"Ask me anything else", Zeke said, knowing that Gearhart had at least one more question.

He paused before asking. "Was it ever entirely because of you, that they died?"

Zeke sighed heavily.  ".....", He didn't respond.  By the look on his face, anyone could tell the answer to that question.  "...I'm..sorry Gearhart, I have to go.", Zeke said as he got up from the table, and left.

God damnit... He thought while staying seated for a bit. He then got up, in attempt to follow Zeke so he could at least apologize.

Zeke walked silently for a bit.  He never wanted those memories to resurface, but he didn't blame Gearhart, it was just a misunderstanding.  He continued walking, knowing someone was following him.  Zeke turned the corner and re-entered the shooting range.

Gearhart followed him in. He saw he was shooting. "I know how you feel, and hope on some level you can understand what I did to Arashikage. When your ready to talk, I'll be in my room." He said while stepping out and slowly walking back to his open room.

Zeke heard Gearhart, but didn't respond.  He kept putting rounds through his pistol, hoping that he wouldn't have to bring those memories up again.

Great... First Arashikage, now Zeke... he thought while pulling up his phone. He started sending a txt message to Arashikage. 'Hey, I know you aren't on good terms with me, but if you get a chance, talk to Zeke, okay? I brought up a bad topic and now he isn't feeling to good either. You probably will be better able to get him back to his joyful mood.' *Sent* I think I might just start packing my stuff...

Several minutes later, Zeke realized that he would have to tell someone about it, and he made his way over to Gearhart's room, and knocked on the door.

As he knocked on the door, it fell from it previously being kicked down. "Come on in, it's open." Gearhart said, not trying to joke around. Inside Gearhart's room was the Packet of cigarettes that he pulled out the night at the bar and the sweatshirt on a small desk the room had. Along with the suitcases of course.

"You wanted to see me?", Zeke asked, still obviously bothered by what the prior conversation had brought up.

"Well, if you wanted to talk about it, or just talk to get it out of your mind, I am here." He said, still un-wanting to talk about his past, but would if need be.

"It.....it's hard for me......I don't blame you for anything, it's just....I didn't ever want to remember that day again.", He said, slight tears forming in his eyes.

Gearhart looked down, feeling and understanding what Zeke meant. Although Zeke was by far older, it reminded him of things. "You don't have to explain, but did you desert your team at one point?" He asked. "If it is too much, I understand if you don't respond."

Zeke, noticing that Gearhart potentially shared the same trauma through his questions, decided to be open about it.  "It was during the Lylat Wars......we were under heavy fire from an enemy position that had us flanked from both sides.  Our guys were dropping like flies, and as I was reloading, I stumbled and found a hidden cave with a door built into it.  I told our Sergeant, who ordered a retreat into the area.  I waited until everyone got in, and as I started closing the door, the entire place went up in flames.  It was set with a pressure-sensitive bomb at the bottom of the chamber, shrapnel flew everywhere, I blacked out.  When I woke up, everything was burned out to the ground, and most of the skeletal remains of my squad were left.  The enemy troop was nearing, and I h......I had t........".  Zeke stopped suddenly, obviously very troubled by what he had to say next.

(Sorry for taking so long Nick :D)

Gearhart, maybe knowing what Zeke was about to say next, "You had to what? It is okay if it is too much." He asked with compassion in his voice.

(Lol, no worries! :))

"......I.....had to........to hide....UNDER THE CHARRED REMAINS", Zeke said, now breaking down and openly tearing up.

Gearhart was torn that Zeke had to hide under the remains of his once fellow friends, and all the pain that came from that. Gearhart had a tear in his eye. "That is horrible." He started while going over to his desk and picking up the pack of cigarettes. He set it back down and turned back to Zeke. "Did you have some family to help you through that time?"
