Star Fox Runner
I was looking around on the Yahoo newsfeeds and I found something interesting. The US government has stated that jailbreaking a smartphone (particularly the iPhone) is no longer illegal.Jailbreaking is making a phone capable of running non-standard apps and even run on different networks. What do you guys think of this? You think it's good or bad this happened?Source: http://news.yahoo.com/s/ytech_wguy/ytech_wguy_tc3236

Fluxy
Lol. Now, I am not good on this stuff, but I was told for an iPhone, that it wasn't illegal, but highly looked down upon. But I thought it was illegal. What is the deal on that?(OT: I too agree with Crazy! lol)
Guest DRL
The trouble with changing the Networkis that it enocourages piracy/phone theft. Never-the-less, another solution to limitphone robberies must be found. Say, like, there is a hard-coded unit inside the phonethat renders the phone unusable if not active, and if active, only an authentication can make itwork. The authentication can be turned on/off bythe phone's owner, on a goverment place or likethat.I am not sure if I explained it very well, but it goeslike that.Apart from that, non-official applications are a goodthing. I had myself 50% of stuff 'unofficially updated'on my Motorola.
Mr. Krystal
I worry about network hacking. As far as I know, phone systems are not sandboxed.
