Milkyway64
whats wrong with furfags? They are weird people who do not know if they are sexually attracted to animals or humans so they mash both together into freak-creatures and then proceed to pay their hardearned money for mostly pornographic commisions of said creature.Duh.

"User"
not all are to that extreme xDI've been in the fandom for 6 years and have RL furry friends and been to conventions and I can tell you it's pretty hard to dispute that the fandom is a sex based sub culture. The majority of art sold at cons is mature/adult in nature (fact based on con sales) and the vast majority of popular furry websites are pornographic in nature as well. Countless furry polls (mainly taken at cons and online) proven a strong sexual connotation to the fandom - it's the main reason why the number of furries had shot up in the last few years. Sex sells.Yes, not all furries are "dirty" but you'd be hard pressed to prove the majority AREN'T.Ha ha! And so you admit that it is indeed possible to downplay furfaggotry!I WIN AGAIN!No one said it was impossible to downplay being a furfag so no you don't win. "User"
xD...i never denied it either UserNever said you were. Good to see you're being realistic. I personally just get annoyed when other furries rant and say things like "OMG NOT ALL FURRIES ARE SEXUAL DEVIANTS" and try to downplay the sexual aspect in general of the entire fandom to be a minor preference. Yes, I know some furries don't like being labeled as such but to try and use an argument that a big majority of the fandom isn't sexual in nature....just makes me want to face palm. I'm a realist of a furry. :)

"User"
Phooooo... I do not like the way this thread is going...Being able to sarcastically (to an extent) make fun of some of the qualities of your own collective subculture is a trait that I believe all furries should possess. It would take away at lot of the drama and negative publicity that the fandom is associated with in the eyes of the public. I'm a furry and so is Milky, but that doesn't mean we can't "poke fun" at some of the most bizarre aspects of the fandom. You know, I made this thread, and it has been seriously getting Off Topic a LOT. I am quite surprised it is even able to still stay, even with a mod posting on it and not realizing it. lolTopics have a tendency to get off topic frequently. I know what the original purpose of the posting is and the discussion, IMO, still has a few good things going for it, even if it's not pertaining to the original topic at hand. Another thing is that it's an interesting on going discussion. Personally, I'm pretty lax as a mod when it comes to enforcing "on topicness" although I have told members to get back on topic a few topics recently. However, if anyone feels the need to create a new topic concerning this new line of discussion by all means create it. :)

Milkyway64
Exactly. A good rule of thumb is if something has over 50 posts, related but not exactly on the topic of the original post is "ot."

StarFoxfan-FUR_ever
Hate to break it to you Milky, but "OT" can be mis-translated very easily.Off-TopicandOn-TopicAnyways, where are we? Ok, before I find myself ranting about sexuality having many different levels... First of all, in any fanbase you will find the adverage/ordinary individuals, and the extremists who everyone criticizes. For whatever reason, as User stated before, a very large portion of the furry fandom is actally part of the extremist side of things. You know what? I just thought of a decent analogy to this whole thing. Remember a long time ago when people simply presumed by default that you were a "loser" because you played video games? Nowdays, almost everyone owns a video game in one form or another, be it a console, computer, or even something as simple as a cellphone. Back in the day, you didn't want to tell people publicly that you "wasted your time in a productive manner" by playing video games. Now, we see that the age groups of video gamers ranges from children younger than 10 years old, to adults in there 40's and 50's. (On a side note, more recently there has been a sharp increase in the number of female video gamers. No longer can someone say "Video games are a silly boy thing")Now, I'm not trying to say that the furry fanbase will expand to such an extent that almost everyone is a furry. But if you think about it, if by chance the fandome were to rid itself of this bad rep that it has gotten...

Hatsworth III
i keep the furry thing a secret, like, go to my school and ask to somebody what is a furry, 99.9% (only me, as i know) know what is a furry.about furry extremism, as i simply would say: every thing has a limit (yes, everything, jeez, a girl died of playing WoW, i like WoW, but i have my limit), so, i think i at least know a bit of both sides (yeah, i'm a half-furry, even if i done only a few crappy web tests, they all said the same thing: you're a half-furry, you can put a squirrel mask on me and call me gordon "squirrelman", because they all say the thruth!),
