hero/ role model

Not really. You build on the work of your predersessor. For example, my dad was a mechanic, I went into computers, let's assume everyone went into cars instead of computing. We wouldn't be talking now, and car advancement would slow. That's my point.

Role model =/= DURRR HURRR GONNA MIMIC THEIR LVIES PERFECTLY AND EXACTLY.

A role model is just that, someone you look up too. You don't even have to be in the same scope as them, just admire and respect their characters.

And yes really, Milky has a point. If noone ever listened to anyone and did what the fvkc ever, we would be full of disunity and madness. Many times apprentices rise above their masters and make the true mark on history (ie: Mozart).

Well that's rediculously loose. I could say it's a hight thing, but seriously, even if you dont mimic them, why would you want to live in their shadow? To use your example. "I am the best at being like Mozart" I've heard people say "I want to be the next John Carmack!" I find that less inspiring. I want to be Sabre, not some other guy who was kind of like another guy.

Going back to Carmack, he does great work, and he builds rocket ships in his spare time. That's cool. That doesn't mean everyone should go and build rockets. No one says "Carmack is todays Shakespear!"

The opposite is true too. Without learning from others, past or present, we'd still be hitting each other with sticks.

i agree , look at sun zu his 3000 year old book still influences modern warfare.

Not really. Warfare has moved on alot. The bits that are still relevent are philosphical rather then strategic. This is evident that people use it in business and other none warfare situations. Much like Nostradamus, you write something vauge enough you can retrodict in anything.

Other parts are just bollocks

"The best defense is a good offense"

but it isn't, it's a good offence.

Others are so obvious such as

"React to changing conditions"

...well yes.

yes really listen to these " all warfare is based on deception" and so it is :) there is all so this one " If your opponent  is of choleric temper seek to anger him."

"attack where he is unprepared, appear where you are not expected."

In any case, the point is you gotta have a balance. Being totally your own man isn't going to work, you'd end up a cave man, so no matter what you're going to have outside influences and yes, ones that you think "Hey, I want to be a bit like that too!"

Randy Rhoads, and Cliff Burton.

Randy for his amazing guitar playing, and influencing me to pick up one.

Cliff for his epic bass playing and making me pick up a bass as well.

It just sucks both of them died terribly. Randy died in a plane crash back in '82, and Cliff got squished by their overturned tour bus back in '86.

So, who was the first role model? When people were small groups living together, who was the role model?

The first one is false. What about a range war for example? Or tanks? Or "shock and awe" which is showing everything you have in order to scare your enemy? War do have decpetion, but not all wars are based on it.

"Make dude angry." Yep. Totally very unbelievably specific that one. Is he talking about defence in depth? Maybe the give ground stratagy? Diplomatic war? Staring Contest? Baseketball?

"Hit the weak point for massive damage" again. Obvious and hyporcritical. If all warfare is depection (all of it, without exception) then that means attacking a weak point will be a trap.

"If fighting is sure to result in victory then you must FIGHT".......... Sun Tzu said that, and I'd say he knows a little more about fighting than YOU do pal because he INVENTED IT! Then he perfected it so that no living man could best him in the ring of honor!

:P I would think that this is getting a little off topic.

As for the topic, I would say I have two big role models. The first would be my grandfather, I've learned most of moral values from him.

And the second, I would have to say it's Mr. Krystal. In the past three and a half years that I've known him, I've talked to him constantly, and he's given me a lot of great advice on multiple subjects, and he's been a good friend to me.

How am I supposed to know? Let alone who it was, but even if there was a single one. I doubt all of humanity is based on one dude who everyone copied again and again and again through generations, it's that everybody picks up what traits they like and to make a part of themselves from others around them.

Robin Olds, the fighter pilot, and Malcolm Smith, the motorcyclist. Both were the best of their time at their trade, but they were always modest about it.

Because living in shadows often proves to be good motivation to rise out of it.

Renard Quenston n' Squeedge, an awesome team!

It's like, if you took everything I love to create, and then made me good at those things, that would be that team.
