"User"
When I was a younger, my favourite was the Animaniacs themselves, and The Goodfeathers. When I got older, it was Minerva Mink, and Mindy and Buttons.I loved Animaniacs. Minerva Mink should have had a lead role in more episodes :(

Vy'drach
Minerva Mink: The quintessential furry icon of the '90s. It's no wonder she was thrown out. As "bad" as they claim she was for children in the show (which is why they say they didn't make more of her episodes, and left her to cameos), in the Animaniacs comics, her scenes were filled with plenty more innuendos and much more... attention getting scenes. A cartoon that was fine for kids back in the day. These days it's not. Most famously the one where he finds that he has fathered a bunch of kids he now has to look after so he kills himself by sucking a gas tap. Fun for the whole family!Back on the original topic, I remembered a perfect example of how properganda and crap educational shows is nothing new. Here's a kids show I remember from my youth. I wonder if the makers of this show had any views that would somehow become dogma 20 years later...

Sabre
Not really. Saying Tom is not Felix is like saying Jumpman from Donkey Kong isn't Mario. The names are different, but it's the same character with the same style made by the same people.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZbX-BeSY_18Also note, this is censored version in that it stops at the scene I mentioned earlier. The Felix the Cat that became very popular and a childhood cartoon star was done by Joe Oriolo. Granted I'm sure parents didn't really mind their kids watching Master Tom (I was slightly off on it being Tom the Cat) too much, but this was when animation was still a novelty and parents took a more active role in their children's development. At that time, though, animation was meant more for adults than children. I doubt any child would really get the fatherhood leads to suicide joke, or even what Tom was doing at the end. Redeemer
Ah, that takes me back.... Thanks for posting that, Sabre.Just how old are you Julius? I always thought Playdays was a very good show. It taught me alot; I started crafting because the doll in it, Peggy, had a slot where she would teach kids how to make stuff. Such a great show. The Tom and Felix cartoons share more style then the early and late simpsons cartoons do. Either way, most people consider it the same. That proves nothing, but I thought I'd mention it.The whole cartoons being for adults thing neer went away, only the popular perception changed. Its an opinion that fluctuates. Cartoons are seen more for kids and as comedies for the simple reason that is what they are best at.Ah, that takes me back.... Thanks for posting that, Sabre. You were alive back then?EDIT: Crap, Reedemer, you beat me to it you lovable scoundral you! Also, thanks for posting playdays. I had blocked out that memory and now it comes flooding back like a past trauma. Eat this for Obscure Nostalgia. Not nice is it? :P

"User"
Minerva Mink: The quintessential furry icon of the '90s. It's no wonder she was thrown out. Haha yeah, she was my first big furry crush. The interesting thing is that Warner Bros were planning some extra shorts of her in a lead role because she was initially pretty popular - then they found out she was popular in a naughty way among furries due to the over 9000 pieces of yiff and cancelled them. Really sucks too. As "bad" as they claim she was for children in the show (which is why they say they didn't make more of her episodes, and left her to cameos), in the Animaniacs comics, her scenes were filled with plenty more innuendos and much more... attention getting scenes.I remember searching desperately for all those comics and the two shorts she had lead role in a few years ago, was finally "elated" when I downloaded both of them (this was before YouTube) And yeah, the comics were a lot more risque at times then the cartoon episodes. Guest Julius Quasar
Just how old are you Julius? Nope, that's what the "" icon is for.I loved Animaniacs. Minerva Mink should have had a lead role in more episodes This explains a lot about my generation vs. the younger generation.I know this sounds like a "times were better then" whining session, but the evidence speaks for itself. Television programming for children is being dumbed down far too much. I have a few ideas of why this would be, but that gets into some pretty deep social commentary, and some of it gets into the realm of conspiracy theory, and I'm sure most of you won't want to discuss that. I agree with you, Samantha. And I'll bet our conspiracy theories on that match.BTW, here's another one, a 1973 classic:But OT, what REALLY makes me mad, is now cookie monster now has to eat only vegetables, because of these anti-free-speech political correctness Nazis. Samantha Weltzin
Wow. This took a direction I didn't expect when I posted it, and that's not a bad thing. It's pretty awesome learning new stuff about cartoons, and that Minerva stuff...just wow. XDBut OT, what REALLY makes me mad, is now cookie monster now has to eat only vegetables, because of these anti-free-speech political correctness Nazis. Actually, that's the rumor, but it was overblown. He still eats cookies, but he "realized" that he needs to eat other things, like vegetables, as well. Still not cool because of the political correctness B.S., but it was done with the intent of combating obesity, which is a good goal. so in this case, I don't think it's as bad as it was made out to be. Samantha Weltzin
Yeah. It's weird, but it's not the horrible thing everyone makes it out to be. I think they ought to have left him as he was, since he was clearly not a role-model anyway, but I understand the thinking behind it.

Carmen San Diego was probably the only game show I watched religiously as a kid. XD Reading Rainbow was a little more intermittent with me, but I still loved seeing everyones' favorite blind engineer / pilot. ;P
