Sapphire
Hello friends at SF-O. I come to you with a serious question about a way to record me playing a game. What I want is something that I can record onto my computer (So I could put it on YouTube and show you guys ) And just basically plug it into my TV. And for god's sake don't you dare say a Dazzle, I got one today and it was shit. So please, whatever you have to suggest, please make it a max limit of $200. Thanks ;)
Sabre
Hmm, what's your problem with Dazzel? My dad has one and its great.Pretty much any video cature device like a dazzel or any other video capture card you want to use. The hard bit is getting the image to display on the TV as well. CrypticQuery
I know you said not to, but I'd either try a Dazzle or a BlitzBox. But as Sabre said, any one will work . Getting the image on the TV is easy though, it only takes three Y-Adapters, one for each Composite cable .
Sapphire
The thing with the Dazzle is like I can hook it up to my computer and have SF64 on the screen and play it but it's SUPER glitchy. And when I try to hook it up to the TV, I get it all but when I need another Yellow Port to put the extra Yellow AV cable in. Sapphire
No.When you get the Dazzle and you install ie and stuff. You need to have an extra cables, like the ones from the Wii that plug into the TV. You need something like that but the Yellow, White, and Red have the same end so you'd have like a yellow, white and red cord ah heck just watch this video:Now when you see the map of stuff you're supposed to do at 0:38 I have all of that. Now the thing you're talking about is in the middle, those yellow, white and red cords. Now, when I hooked everything up, I needed another Yellow Slot for that extra Yellow AV cable I had but the TV didn't have one :awwwwww:
Sarita
When you understand what those cords actually do, it makes sense why your TV only has one. >_> The yellow cord is your video cord. The other two are audio. You only should NEED one yellow.

CrypticQuery
True, but of you're gonna properly use a Dazzle, then you need 2 No, you need a normal Composite cable, with both ends having a Yellow (Video), White (Left Audio), and Red (Right Audio) and three Y-Adapters, and you're set :P
DZComposer
Y-Adapters are utter shit. They will make the picture fuzzy, and the audio sound like it's in a tin box. If you want to split a signal, you need it to be out if two powered outputs. Something like a distribution amplifier would work better, also some VCRs can multi-out as well. Most low-end video capture cards are also utter shit, the Dazzle included. You'll want a midrage to high-end capture card to get good results. Many low-end cards develop audio-sync issues because of the latency in the video stream. This can make playing games on a vidcap card harder because your seeing things about 200ms after they happen (IE, lag). I played SFAs on one and it was hard as shit. If you want good audio sync, you'll want a low-latency card.

Mr. Krystal
You need to record in uncompressed 480p (the highest output of Gamecube and Wii). This will record 480p:http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16815116030&cm_re=happage-_-15-116-030-_-ProductSOME of the ATI All-In-Wonders will record 480p, but I would recommend calling ATI about it before purchase just to be sure. This card claims to support 480p capture:http://www.leadtek.com/eng/tv_tuner/overview.asp?lineid=6&pronameid=399Like the ATI card, both of these require a relatively fast computer to use it.Finally, this product:http://www.xcm.cc/v_box.htmMIGHT do 480p, but it's the cheapest and easiest option for gameplay and recording of Wii on your computer.BTW, BEST BUY SELLS NONE OF THESE PRODUCTS, OR ANYTHING LIKE THEM. YOU MUST BUY THESE SORT OF THINGS ONLINE.

Also, if you are playing games on the capture preview screen, your going to fail.

Ellipzocore
Assuming your computer is nice and fast, here is what you can do...There is a fairly different idea. You can spend less money on something that can do good. First, you need a N64 Controller Adapter. You would have to buy one online, but you have to buy a Dazzle that way too. Then you hook it up to your computer. Getting an Emulator online is easy, I recommend you use Project64. Unfortunately, it doesn't have a built in recorder, so You will have to use CamStudio. It is nice and fast, unlike Hypercam2 which sucks. You can download a Starfox 64 rom, but I am not posting a link to it due to it being in violation of the rules. Open CamStudio, then open Project64, open up the Starfox64 Rom, but don't run it yet. Select the size of the game window using the "Select Region" option in CamStudio. Now you have to start recording it by moing the mouse to the area of the game window. After that start playing the game. I would change the AVI Playback options to veiw it in your system's default player. This way can work and is widely used by many people who record games they Emulate on the computer that don't have a built in Recorder. They offer 4k video now, the highest res video format in common usage.

Ellipzocore
This is hard then. I cannot think of anything else but the methods that were stated. I don't think that there is much anything else that takes video game videos clearly. But mine is the best method.
