Oh, one thing that is important, DO NOT drive around lowered railroad crossing gates or try to play "beat the train." This is what happens to people who think that is a good idea:

Cab-Cam view, at :12 is impact. Engie dumps the train @:13. The loud whirring at :22 is the dynamic brake kicking in to assist the e-brake in stopping the train (it wasn't engaged sooner because dynamic brakes require setup time), which finally happens at :54. It took almost 40 secs for the train to stop.

Aftermath, Anchor says about 150' stopping distance, though it looked longer than that to me.

5 teens were killed because of that stupid decision.

And that's just an Amtrak train. Now imagine a 150-car fully-loaded coal train traveling at 60MPH hitting a car.

Thanks for that DZ.

But I've heard from most of my friends with their licence that it's just a simple drive up the road and back. No biggie :) But still I'm gonna be nervous. :)

I wasn't talking about just for your driving test. Don't do that, EVER. 5 minutes are not worth your life.

Even if you get lucky and beat the train, a cop can (and most likely will) ticket you for it if they see it.

There are certain things in our world that you do not want to be stupid around. Trains are one of them.

Right. There are no trains around here though. Not for like 30 or 40 miles.

Still check the tracks, whether they have warning devices or not.. it could save your life.

Don't speed (duh)

Make sure you always keep two hands on the wheel at all times, don't slide the wheel between your palms when you complete a turn, rather walk it back... you'll get points docked for fail completly.

make sure you check blind spots, signal before you turn out. Signal when you change lanes, signal when you pull back in after the test.

When you do your three point turn, check for traffic three times:

1 when you pull to the side of the road (check behind you.)

2. when you have pulled all the way to the left of the road - ( check your left side, right side, then left again.

3. when you have put the car in reverse and backed up, BEFORE putting it back in drive. (check left, right, left)

Check traffic when you parallel park, and check again before you pull out. Use your clicker when you're pulling up beside the car, and do it again when you're pulling out.

Glad I took Driver's Ed!

Okay here's an update guys. I GOT my lisence. :) :) :) :) :)

And thanks Julius! :)

And let me tell ya the story...

So here I am waking up at 6:00 a.m. and me and my Mom are going over to the DMV. And we get ther and sign in and everything, so the driving instructor takes me outside to observe the car. Well I want you to guess what happens SF-O....my Mom's car's tags have apparently been expired for 3 months. So i get really pissed and she looks for the nearest possible appointment. It appeared that there was one available in Johnson City at 9:30 (You guys don't know it but that's the hardest place to drive around here due to bad traffic and crud like that) So we go down there and I take my driving test and get my lisence :)

Funny, eh?
