Redeemer
I found this website today: http://www.blindcatrescue.com/ and I was so touched, I made a $10 donation. And once I've got a steady income, I'm setting up a monthly payment plan. I don't know if there's anything like that in the UK, but that website, and those little blind kitties, made me feel something so strong, I started to cry.I just wanted to show you guys the site... And ask you guys if you've ever had a disabled pet, or known a disabled animal. There was a cat who used to live across the road from me. He was called Jimmy, and he was the most affectionate little boy cat ever. He even used to sit on my shoulder. He lost an eye after some kids shot him in the face with a pellet gun. And you know what? He still loved people, even after that.

Redeemer
I already voted, but Redeemer already knows I did. Yep, thanks so much Nick. If you guys are on Facebook, please go to Big Apple Pet Supply, Like it and type on its wall "Blind Cat Rescue". It's so the centre can win a prize, they're a non-profit organization and need all the help they can get! The Blind Cat Rescue Centre is also on Facebook if you want to Like them too.And yeah, OneWingedAngel and Fureox, it makes me angry too... When I saw Jimmy's face the next day I was horrified, and I was only 8 or something at the time. But looking at that site, it makes me also realise that there are people out there who care. I don't know why, I just want to spread the word of this cat centre. It's had a huge effect on me.Over here, kids are very aggressive. There are too many animal abuse cases these days, and it's just not right. It's not right.
DZComposer
Word of the wise: Always investigate a charity before you donate. There are many scams out there. This one seems legit, but it is a very small-time operation run by a single person, not an organization. One thing I do not like about this person, is she seems to be one of those people that thinks that taking cats to a regular shelter is abandonment. That is not the case. Ironically, many of these people turn out to be hoarders who do a lot worse. I don't have reason to suspect that this woman is a hoarder, there are videos of the animals in good care and conditions, but be wary of small-time animal rescues until you learn more about them.I would feel more comfortable donating to something like the ASPCA than to a backyard shelter. "User"
There was one cat case that was all over the news recently about some lady in the U.K. who was caught on video petting/scratching a cat sitting on top of a dumpster, then looking around to see if anyone was watching her, then picking up the cat and putting it in said dumpster bin. The cat was found 16 hours later starving and in its own feces. Needless to say the woman has been identified and she has police protection at her house for a reason. I'm sure you've heard of this case Redeemer it was all over the radio here in Canada for a couple of days.http://www.irishtimes.com/newspaper/weekend/2010/0828/1224277755774.html

I know it's run by one person, but she has volunteers that come round every weekend or something to help her out.I think the reason I was more comfortable donating to this charity was because I've never seen or heard of anything like it before, but when I checked it out I was convinced it was secure. I don't know, I trusted it. I'm a pretty good judge with these things, if I thought it was fake even in the slightest, I wouldn't have even followed it on Facebook nevermind donate to it. I do see your point though, and I've seen some fake charities before that actually looked better online than this one. Ah User, the Mary Bale case. Yeah, I read through not too long ago, she did mislead the cat into thinking she was going to get a nice petting, then she picked it up and dropped it into the bin and closed the lid, then walked away. She has police protection because some people want to go to her home and hurt her. I understand what she did was mean, and could have resulted in worse (e.g. the cat could have been picked up by the bin collectors and put into one of those bin bag trucks and driven away, if she even survived the crushing process that bins go through), but threats on this woman's life is just stupid. It's silly little animal rights extremists who act more barbaric than some of the animals they try to protect. Let's not stoop to Mary Bale's level, hmm Peta?Yeah, the cat was found 15 hours later, sure she had pooped on herself but some cats do that anyway. I didn't read she was starving though - cats can go for a long time without food, she would have just been uber hungry. But yeah, she was a lucky kitty! :
Star Fox Runner
He lost an eye after some kids shot him in the face with a pellet gun. And you know what? He still loved people, even after that. That's just sick, I hate it when animals get abused. I may mess around with my cat, but I don't physically hurt her, it's just wrong!Your story reminds me of a cat in my neighborhood back home, there's a cat named Milo that lives next door that was just like that, though uninjured, and he is the sweetest thing you'll ever meet! And he isn't destructive either like most outdoor cats.As for the charity, I would donate if I could honestly, but not enough cash in my pocket, gotta keep paying for college stuff. Redeemer
Don't worry SFR, I couldn't really afford to donate either. The only reason I did it was because I won free cat food, so I figured that if that money wasn't going to my cats, it can go to the blind cats instead. I hope someone shoots all those stupid kids each in the eye with a real gun and kills 'em! I'd never harm or kill a cat or a fox.I wish I could donate to that organization, but I'm broke. I once got into a huge fight with someone because I saw him kick a cat. I just went into a rage. I wouldn't kill any animal abusers, that's a bit extreme, but I would certainly like to give them a taste of their own medicine. Unless they murdered an animal. Then I'd hand them to Peta and walk away as their screams faded with distance. Mwahaha.
