Well..........once I got the Retro duo, I had to wait a while before I could get the Starfox game, because originally I didn't have it. Once I did get it however, I tried starting it up and it wouldn't go, so I blew on the cartridge and it worked. So there, I don't think that was the consoles fault.

Likely the reason he charges so much for them is that you can't just flash SF2 onto a Yoshi's Island or DOOM cart and have it wok, there is some soldering and EPROM programming required: http://snesdev.romhack.de/sf2.htm

I think he charges so much because he knows people will buy it, even though its a rip off, not because of the work he has to put in it. It may not have to go on yoshi's island or doom, but I garantee, stunt race FX is cheaper then those games anyway, also, an eprom can be bought for less then 70 dollars, so it would make sense to sell em cheaper, cause it'll pay for itsself really fast anyways, and sauderings not hard... 70$ = rip off, you can download the rom with the modifications done with snes tool already done to it, but still some people would rather spend then have to do anything themselves...  I bought stunt race a loooong time ago, and still haven't done anything to it :(

I'm starting to get annoyed by people acting like fans are stupid for buying an SF2 cart. One, more than most of us are well aware that it's not a real Nintendo cartridge and is just a <insert SFX 2 chip title here> cart that's been raped, and two, not everybody likes playing emulators/emulator gameplay setup, and three, just because we like video games doesn't mean we all know how to build our own video games. To me, it's worth it to be able to play the cancelled Star Fox 2 on SNES like I was always supposed to, for not even $100.

^ Totally agree!

I'm old fashioned, I like to be able to physically put in a disk or a cartridge into a game console prior to commence playing.

I dunno, I think he should sell it cheaper, everything he has to buy to make them would be paid for really quickly, and then after that he'd have to spend like 5-15 bucks per game he wants to make. That means he's getting about 60-70$ worth of money per game he didn't make. If he made the game I'd be alright with it, but he didn't, and I love mah games, and only want them to be forged for the love of spreading a game that is otherwise hard to come by, not for the love of profit. I know he couldnt sell them for free, but it doesn't have to be seventy dollars...

The reason it's worth it to buy the game if it's being sold by the creater for 75 + dollars, is because then you are paying for the awesomeness of the game, rather then the fact that some guy forged it for you. If some guy forged it for you, then they shouldn't be making much profit from it, they should be spreading the love of the game, just some of my philosophy I guess :)

Technically it would be impossible to "forge" it, as the game was never released on cartridge form.  To make the SF2 carts, you'd have to find a Stunt Racer FX cart, which can be rare, and sometimes expensive.  Don't forget, you're also paying for labor and parts, and these carts are really only meant for hardcore fans and collectors.

Stunt race FX is 5 bucks on average, but can be bought for .95 cents, or even 10$, theres not a lot of labour involved, the only difficult thing in the whole setup is getting an eprom wrighter, I used to want to make a sf2 cart, bought stunt race and everything, but didn't because of the eprom writer, I didn't want to buy 1 just to make 1 cart, if someone I knew wanted one too i might've, but no one did. You only have to buy an eprom writer once, but even at 30$ a cart, an eprom writer would pay for itself really quickly.

I'd say 20-30 is a fair price for this technically forged :? game.

I don't mind you making money off your game, but it just makes me feel bad when games are being profited off like this, like I said before, it should be for the joy of letting others play an otherwise unaccesible game, if anything.

But why exactly does it make you feel bad?  Nintendo never released it, and they're not losing money on anything.  If this guy wants to make a cart and sell it, there aren't any problems in my eyes.  :)

Is star fox 2 illegal to buy ro sell? people say that in videos on youtube !

But in the current order of things, there's not much made against the sf2 carts seller/buyer. It depends first on your stance on copyright and intellectual property. You do have more chance(not much) of getting trouble from buying or selling that kind of cart, than playing the rom on an emulator.. Since not only its reverse engineering ( no comments ), but its also distributing and selling copies of a Nintendo game. Nintendo usually just makes ebay remove the listing when someone reports it to them. At least it happened a few times.
