Guest Mr. Mario
This topic is all about my favorite Xbox 360 game called Dead Rising, soon to get a sequel. If you want, feel free to talk, give your opinions or whatever on Dead Rising.Lets start...For those that don't know what Dead Rising is, it is a Xbox 360 game released in 2006 by Capcom and developed by Blue Castle. It's a little bit like Resident Evil, fighting zombies, staying alive and such... the first Dead Rising game takes place in a fictional city called Willamete, Colorado inside a shopping mall, the main protaginest is Frank West, he is a photographer and also "Covered wars too"So mainly in Dead Rising, you're supposed to find out information on how there are zombies around Willamete by...solving some cases. You can also take pictures in the game (You can't in the Wii version...) and escort some survivors out of the mall. Then there is this system called PP (Where have we heard this before? Pokemon? Oh right!) in which has some exp. points you can earn by defeating zombies, pyschopaths and more. But then you have a time limit in this game, you have 3 days (72 hours) to gather much information or do some certain tasks. The weapons in this game isn't all about guns as most horror games have, you can use just about ANYTHING in the mall (Water gun, spit, teddy bear, Guitar and more...).The problems I found in Dead Rising is whenever you talk to someone or read what the title of the task is, the text is TOO D*MN SMALL!! Also another problem is the save feature, whenever you die in the game, you have 2 options, you can either LOAD FROM LAST SAVE POINT or QUIT, no save feature is there so if you get killed and forget to save...tsk tsk. Luckily if you own the Wii version of the game (It's called Dead Rising: Chop till you drop) both of these problems are fixed. Now Dead Rising 2 is coming out in September of 2010, the gameplay will remain the same except it takes place in Fortune city, Nevada and the new protaginest is Chuck Greene, unlike Frank West, Chuck is a motocross champion. What else makes the gameplay different from the oringal is you can no longer take any pictures but insted, you can combine items to make your own weapon.Want proof? Here...WARNING: BLOODyouNA9-Hd54
Sabre
I'm thinking of getting the mini episode. My main issue with the original was the grinding, and the opening section is to long and slow for a game you have to restart numberous times to complete. Guest Mr. Mario
My main issue with the original was the grinding, and the opening section is to long and slow for a game you have to restart numberous times to complete.Yeah, time always seems to be not enough whenever you need to either rescue a survivor or complete a task, I remembered one time in GIRL HUNTING that time was extremely short and I had to defeat Isabela before time was up, just when I thought I killed her (Her health was empty), a cutscene showing her getting away plays and I get this message THE TRUTH VANISHES INTO THE DARKNESS...It gets annoying once in a while when you have to restart for a task, especially if you have powerful weapons and health items. You could also lose them if either a yellow raincoat member or a special forces member (Looks more like H.U.N.K from RE) kills you... I always hated seeing my items vanish and seeing Frank in his undies.
Sabre
I remember those yellow raincoat guys, never got far enough to see the special forces. I'm thinking of going back to it because of this thread and the cheap dead rising 2 episode. I got up to the butcher, or just past him, I forget. What's your advice? Rescue hostages as they appear, take photos, or rescue hostages after the mission? My favourite trick is to get the contruction manual at the start and just use those for most of the game. Guest Mr. Mario
What's your advice? Rescue hostages as they appear, take photos, or rescue hostages after the mission?Well if you are trying to get to level up to Level 50 (That gets you a achievement), try rescuing survivors, you get at least 15,00 PP for each survivor that joins you. If you escort like...5 survivors at once you get like 100,000 PP which you'll level up for sure. But yeah, as you already pointed out about manuels, there are certain good ones out there like GET 25% PP BONUS FROM DEFEATING ZOMBIES. Look at what skills you have learned, when you perform those skills on a zombie, you get only a tiny bit of PP ranging from 10-50 PP. Killing zombies would be ok but the only time you earn alot of PP is every 1000 zombie kills. Don't forget you'll get a slightly good ending if you rescue at least 20 survivors. (That gets you a achievement)Taking photos on the other hand don't really raise too much PP but remember that yellow circle with PP inside over the persons head? That's your chance to take the photo, you can get 1000-10000 PP, depending on the category. (Erotica photos are just too d*mn hard...) Oh yeah, hopefully you got some photos to show to Kent because...on the 3rd day..something special happens. If you choose to ignore the case about the zombie outbreak in Willamete, you shouldn't be in too much of a hurry but don't ignore once you begin the game, if you do, you won't gain access to Entrance plaza...Pyschopaths have a lot of PP to earn for you, but I think there is only 15 of them...I remember those yellow raincoat guys,Yeah I hated those yellow raincoat, everytime there is like 1 or 4 left, I get captured because one of them threw...water? (I don't even know what it was...)never got far enough to see the special forces.Well, remember to solve all cases and go back to the security room to see someone suffer becoming a zombie, then get to the heliport and wait until time is up...Then sit back and watch the ending and... you'll later see those guys. But be warned, if you don't have a powerful weapon (Chainsaw, shotgun, katana...), to kill them, they'll get you quick with their weapon and it will be hard to dodge... Sabre
Hang on, I thought if you missed a case you gameovered?I don't remember to much about them. I remember being captured and never managing to escape. I even managed to kill them all once and ran around for about 10 minutes in my pants before giving up on finding the exit.I just played the demo of case zero. Great opening, and drill bucket!, but that kid get's annoiying very quickly.
Guest Mr. Mario
Hang on, I thought if you missed a case you gameovered? It depends on what ending you want, if you want ending A (The best ending), yeah you miss a case, you have to start over to last save point or the beginning, otherwise if you're looking to get the other endings...Ending B - Don't solve the case but insted rescue 20 survivors out of the mall, also be at the helliport on timeEnding C - Solve all cases but do not talk to Isabella at 10am on the last day, the helliport doesn't matterEnding D - Be a prisoner of the special forces at 12 pm on the 22nd (That is what happens if you don't manage to escape from the special forces once they capture you.)Ending E - Dont be at the helliport and dont solve all casesEnding F - Fail to collect all of Carlitos bombs on act 7-2I don't remember to much about them. I remember being captured and never managing to escape. I even managed to kill them all once and ran around for about 10 minutes in my pants before giving up on finding the exit.Well their knife hurts and basically the only weapons you can find in the hideout of the raincoat is the cerimonel sword and the step-ladder. However if you learned some good skills, you shouldn't have any problem. The only thing that questions me though is whenever Frank gets killed by the zombies whenever the raincoats are in the mall on the 2nd day, I end up being at their hideout, I didn't even fight them...I just played the demo of case zero. Great opening, and drill bucket! If only I had Xbox live, I could try Case Zero. Heard it's looking good right now for Dead Rising 2... too bad I have to wait until September 27th for it to come out. The only thing I can watch is the current intro for Dead Rising 2 from Game Informer.Hky8J-geCM4 All I have to say is... where's Frank? Shouldn't the game be talking about that incident in Willamete? Well I know the announcer refers to Willamete and that other city...If you look at 6:02, the guy looking at the girl LOOKS like Frank West. but that kid get's annoiying very quickly.Probably going to have to agree on that... Sabre
Hmm. That intro is different to the case 0 one.frame rate is a bit low, but it's the only good quality version I could find without "hillarious" commentery.hmm. I thought it was instant, as in if the case timer goes down, game over, restart or load.I booted my save last night. No idea where I was at when I last played. I'm nearly level 23, and waiting for a mission to activate. "Images on the monitor". I went to fight the clown and got my arse beat. I also discovered doing a spin move with a bladed weapon is lethal.Once you kill the raincoats, how do you get out?Case 0 is a 4 part case. From what I saw the town in case 0 is about as big as a mall section or 2, but then I was only playing the demo. It's exactly the same as 1. The main difference is you can combine weapons on a workbench like the smoothies from 1. That's how you get PP, by building and using weapons. As you can see from the intro, it's alot more brown. Also most of the animations are recycled.I discovered 2 weapons. The bat with spikes (that the tutorial runs you through) and the drill bucket, which is a bucket combined with power drills. Basicly you put it on a zombies head, it kills them in a massy and hillarious way. The main disadvantage is you have to wait for the animation to play out before being able to pick it back up. There is at least 2 more shown in the trailers, a chainsaw on paddles and a battery linked to a rake to make it a tazer of some sort.I beat adam, Gamefaqs didn't help much. Though when you get the shortcut and chainsaws from him that game becomes much easier.
Guest Mr. Mario
hmm. I thought it was instant, as in if the case timer goes down, game over, restart or load.Well you also get the option to resume your game ONLY if you failed to complete a case that involves the zombies in Willamete and how they got there, if you get killed however, that's a different story, either restart from last save point or save your current status and leave. I booted my save last night. No idea where I was at when I last played. I'm nearly level 23, and waiting for a mission to activate. "Images on the monitor". I went to fight the clown and got my arse beat. I also discovered doing a spin move with a bladed weapon is lethal. Are you talking about double lariat? If you use that move while holding a weapon, yes it may be lethal but Frank will release the weapon out of his hands and the weapon will fly to somewhere.Once you kill the raincoats, how do you get out?If you're captured by the raincoats, you know the only weapons you'll find in their hideout is a cerimonal sword and the step-ladder, use them and make sure every raincoat has been killed, you should get a message that says YOU OBTAINED THE PASSCODE. Now remember that door you saw when Frank was trying to get out of the box? If you don't have the passcode, you can't leave, but if you do, you'll get out of their hideout and you should be in Leisure Park. If you try to enter their hideout while in the park, the door will be locked from the other side.I beat Adam, Gamefaqs didn't help much. Though when you get the shortcut and chainsaws from him that game becomes much easier. It is true, especially when you need to rescue survivors in Wonderland Plaza. I had a little bit of trouble defeating Adam since most of my weapons were short-ranged (I had a Sledgehammer, Katana, Rock Guitar and a Big chainsaw which you can't put it in your inventory... ).Though the hardest boss I ever fought in the game would be Jo the fat cop, she'll always keep chasing me and using her stun gun WHICH HURTS!! I also sometimes fail to rescue 1 survivor that was held hostage by Jo because the cop beated the girl up and her health was empty.Hmm. That intro is different to the case 0 one.Yeah I noticed some differences too. It's not really about the character's appearence but...maybe their personaility. Sabre
I find joe fairly easy. For me the hardest ones are cleatus and that dude in the hardware shop.
Guest Mr. Mario
For me the hardest ones are Cleatus and that dude in the hardware shop.Cleatus shouldn't be too hard, if you try to fight him while you're in the HUNTING SHACK, he'll start firing his shotgun at you, then drinks his whisky for a dumb reason and repeats the process until you get killed. The easier way to get him is quickly leave the HUNTING SHACK before he kills you, then find at least 5 handguns, then go back to the shop but DO NOT ENTER, insted, make sure you cleared the zombies, now open the other door, stay on one side of the wall near the door and aim your handgun at Cleatus, you'll hurt him but this way, he will not fire his shotgun at you and having to waste some healing items.Cliff in the hardware shop... yeah he is tough, especially with his machete. If you have a small chainsaw (The weapon you get when you defeat Adam.) or a regular chainsaw, keep running away from him, then go near a wall and wait for Cliff to get closer, use your chainsaws and he shouldn't bother you anymore, those chainsaws are pretty powerful... Sabre
My Cleatus tactic is to wait until you get the sniper weapons from the 3 nutters in the entrance plaza and use those. On a related note, when the 3 survivors take over the shop, is there any way to get them out alive?Played a bunch last night. I'm up to the scene with the bombs. Guest Mr. Mario
On a related note, when the 3 survivors take over the shop, is there any way to get them out alive?Well remember that duct you use to go to the security room? You have to take a picture of the duct (You should get at least 500-1000 PP), go back to the HUNTING SHACK, enter but beware of the gunfire, leave the shop again before you get killed, Jonathen wants you to come back, enter the store again but DO NOT go near the counter, that is when the gunfire comes back, now talk to Jonathan (That guy in the camoflauge,), he'll tell you that Frank's helicopter is fishy and won't believe you because you don't have any proof, he says to get some and you'll talk about it, if you took a picture of the duct, talk to him again and the 3 survivors should join you. If you haven't gotten the picture yet, now is the time to get it.Played a bunch last night. I'm up to the scene with the bombs. All right than... did you defeat Carlito in the truck? You'll get some bonus PP for defeating a pyschopath. Once you take care of the bombs, go back to the warehouse where you saw a cutscene of Brad & Carlito fighting. You'll discover something...horrible...
Sabre
Huh, the guys weren't there today. Strange. Also the criminals in the jeep respawned for a some reason before disappearing when I came back. Bit weird. Anyway, by the time you read this I should have finished it. I'm up to the special forces guys who are all dressed as hunk for some reason. I got the jessica snuff photo, and made the mistake of saving it there. Oh well, I'm sure I'm close to the end. Guest Mr. Mario
Huh, the guys weren't there today. Strange.Maybe you were too late, I think I got them on the 3rd day at 10:00am...Also the criminals in the jeep respawned for a some reason before disappearing when I came back. Bit weird.Yeah, I'm wondering how they could've came back after you killed them...Anyway, by the time you read this I should have finished it. I'm up to the special forces guys who are all dressed as hunk for some reason.^Special forces soldiers^ H.U.N.KCan't really argue on that similarite...I got the jessica snuff photo, and made the mistake of saving it there. Oh well, I'm sure I'm close to the end.If you took a photo of Jessie as a zombie, you should get a achievement. Hopefully you remember to talk to Isabela at 10:00am before you get to the chopper, otherwise you won't be able to play a secret mode in which you can see the real villian in Dead Rising. Sabre
No spoilers. I want to see for myself. Also, Im level 50. Got the worlds most usless skill. Judging from the achievments, Im guessing theres a zombie Brad somewhere.Speaking of hunk, I know the serve bot heads are in there from tron bon, theres the jill sandwhich from RE1. Brad wears the same colours as Brad from RE, and Im guessing turns into a zombie like he does as well. Any other references or funny stuffyou like? Guest Mr. Mario
Any other references or funny stuff you like?Well... the Jill Sandwich shop would be one that made me remember something...Barry Burton: You almost became a Jill Sandwich!!This game tends to have some corny parts, actors were great.Another reference was at CHILD'S PLAY, that lego-like guy is a playable character in Marvel Vs. Capcom 2, though I play Marvel Vs. Capcom 2, I can't even remember what was that lego-like guy's name is... I think Tom Borne? Now you know about the costumes in the game right? If you haven't unlocked any by beating the game, I ain't going further...
Sabre
Not unlocked any yet. I have the reskins outfits off of live. The lego guys are servebots from a game called "The misadventures of Tron Bonne" or something. It's basicly a crime game for kids. Because you are in a big mech you have to send in the little robots to rob peoples house in a hillarious way... Yeah, it's morals are weird. It's also tied to megaman somehow, not sure how. Also, I find it weird in dead rising how the face changes when it's off screen or blocked by something.
Guest Mr. Mario
Also, I find it weird in dead rising how the face changes when it's off screen or blocked by something.Hmm... if you are talking about the facial animations (Though you probably aren't), it's bad. Bad enough like Resident Evil 5.Though I heard that problem is going to be fixed in Dead Rising 2, but who knows?Have you earned some achievements in the game? Some are easy and hard to get...
Sabre
I was talking about the giant serve bot in the toy shop. It has a : D face usually, but sometimes, if a pillar get's in the way, or the camera spins, sometimes the face will change.Currently Im on Brook, fist fighting on top of the tank. I lost, and cant be arsed going through the tank boss again tonight.Yeah, I have some. Mostly easy stuff. Kill 10 soldiers, take psycho photos, break 100 objects ect.Finished it. Ending was kind of naff. It was the true ending btw.
Guest Mr. Mario
Finished it. Ending was kind of naff. It was the true ending btw.So did you unlock any costumes? If you beat Brock (Not Brook) without getting killed, you get something special...but I'm not spoiling anymore. All right...look's like the offical release date for Dead Rising 2 in NA is September 28th and Europe is September 24th. (Why do we need to wait?)So far, some pyschopaths in Dead Rising 2 have been revealed but not all of them, if you watched the intro cutscene I posted on my first post, notice the green biker who says"Sorry you lost your wife...but I guess you suck at killing zombies, otherwise she wouldn't be around!!!!"Chuck: "Save it for the show sh*t-head."It has also been noted that Frank West and Otis Washington will make a brief appearence in Dead Rising 2 though I really don't believe it...
Sabre
How can they not make an appearence? Let's face it, frank will be there chasing his cure and getting the story, and otis will be there trying to kill him ...I mean help.I got a ton of stuff, I'll see if I can remember it all.Megaman bootsMegaman tightsArmy bootsWrestling bootsPrisoner outfit
Guest Mr. Mario
I got a ton of stuff, I'll see if I can remember it all.Megaman bootsMegaman tightsArmy bootsWrestling bootsPrisoner outfitThat's exactly what I have! Getting the other costumes may be tough for me, but right now I'm focused on getting the achievements...but this achievement right here is stupid...Rescue 50 survivors out of the mallThough it may sound easy but...if you're trying to get the best ending in the game, you would have to subtract 3 survivors from your notebook (Jessica, Brad and Barnaby.), however though when I try to get ending B, some survivors will not be rescued like Simone for instance, you can't rescue her unless you watched the cutscene of Isabela and her "medic skills" on Jessie. I even remember one time I rescued Burt somehow but now all I do is just kill him.Zombie genocider is a waste of time, the only time you'll ever destory more than 100 zombies at a time is at the garage underneath the mall, killing the zombies by hand could be difficult but then again, a waste of time.
Sabre
But if you get genecider and an ending, you get a real megabuster that respawns, has 300 shots and will 1 hit kill all non boss enemies. I don't see any harm in trying to get it in between survivors.
