Fluxy
DZ, eh?Well, I'm sure he'll make the right decision best for the forum. I honestly don't even find it too much of an issue. Just have to wait a minute. But then again, I never get bored and such, so it is a matter of opinion.
Sabre
Chill out, I didn't make the rule xD. I also said that some posts don't require a paragraph, but it does get annoying whenever people are debating or talking about something and they get a random person going "lol yeah, you are right" all the time, instead of going "yes, you are right because blahblahblahblah".I would personally make the wait time be 20 seconds, but like I said, it's not entirely my call.I agree, but at the same time it is held against me that not enough people reply "lol yeah I agree" to my posts. DZComposer
I chose 45 secs because it is long enough to be effective flood control, but short enough for people to be active in threads. If I remember correctly, the default is 60 seconds, so this is actually a reduced time. It exists for flood control purposes. Flood control is to stop spammers from posting lots of spam really quick and to prevent trolls from using scripts to fill out forums with posts that will have to manually be cleaned-up. Since it is for the protection of the forum, it will not be changed. If you're consistently running into this, then I have to question whether or not you are actually reading threads before you reply to them. If you're in an active thread, go read another thread and then come back. That way you give more people a chance to respond to you. This is a forum, not a chat room that doesn't scroll away. It's supposed to have a slower pace. If you take time to read through the thread before posting, you will not only make better posts as you'll have a full picture of the discussion, but you also won't run into the flood control system.Sabre, you're the first one I've heard mention it kicking in incorrectly. I suggest clearing your cache and cookies and seeing if that helps.
Geo Stelar
I'm not complaining with this. I have gotten it at a few situations (mostly in the rec room and the luxury lylat hotel topics), but just as most people here said, it is for flood control. And I agree with sabre and Steve. If you really need to post fast and can't wait 45 secs, not only what you're posting should be important, or worth reading, or a very helpful matter, you should also type it in a decent way that people will get your whole message.. not too long for some people to get bored, or too short so you can save time. You should type whatever you're gonna type in a way, short, average, or a wall of text, that will make people see through what you wanna say, or enough for an explanation of something... and 45 seconds is more than enough for that. But if you're a fast typer, (like me) I suggest after you post, wait at least 30 - 40 secs, reload the page, then post, instead of posting a reply, then you've read that someone had already said the same thing or (in RPs,) something that leaves you typing again, then you have to modify again. Or, after posting, read other topics, return, then post. Saves time, really.
