Devil's advocate is my middle name :D I'll often go to Facebook pages about the Bible and argue with idiot Christians, and in the same hour go to an atheist page and defend Christianity. And yeah, it'll pass, but the damage will be done.

Some people have nothing better to do with their time I guess.

So, by your logic, 700 years ago if a country who CLAIMED to be mainly Christian did many evil things that the bible would clearly condemn (like killing others who weren't Christian) and clearly showed that they WEREN'T Christian at all by their actions then it's okay to stereotype the entire religion as a whole?  I'd rather call those individuals not true followers of Christ and not label all of Christianity as "evil" because it's one thing to say your Christian (anyone can do that) but actions speak louder then words.

And that's really different from how people perceive the Muslims how? Also, in the Bible, God said to kill every Muslim man, woman, and child, and then later we have the Crusades, doing just that.

I personally don't really think anyone who claims to be a Christian as a follower of Christ, given that Christ was against organized religions, as he saw them as nothing more than an institution to control people. And that reminds me, I said Christians, not followers of Christ. The two are supposed to be the same, but they aren't always.

That's impossible since the Bible was completed almost 600 years before Islam even existed.  There is no such verse in the Bible period referencing Islam or Muslims..  As far as the Crusades were concerned those were completely unbiblical.  There is no justification for killing people in the name of God found anywhere in the New Testament.  The old testament is a different story but that's a whole different debate that really is beyond the scope.

Lol no he wasn't.  If he clearly was against them then during his time on Earth he would have made it a point to eliminate all of that in general.  He gave people a choice, but he was pretty much a pacifist on Earth.  He was against the complete hypocrisy of the religious leaders of that time (Pharisees) which, btw, were completely missing the point with their laws.  Furthermore, there is nothing in the Bible to justify your claim.  There's a lot of stuff that, on the outside looks fishy about the Bible but dive deeper into the theology behind it and it all starts to make sense.

Anyways we're getting off topic.

Due to being tired I didn't brain very well, and was a bit off. It was the Old Testament, and it was to kill every enemy of the Hebrews, not Muslims specifically.

As for the rest, too tired to brain on it right now.

It's alright.  Come back at the subject if you want when you're fresh and awake. :P (preferably in a new topic though for obvious reasons)

I'm tired too, I don't even know why I'm still up atm.

What do you think? Personally, I believe he has the right to, but like the article says, going through with this would possibly bring about a new wave of hate from radical Muslims. Not to mention, it's pretty much retarded and goes against everything the Bible teaches - tolerance, love, free will, all that jazz.

Also, it's pretty refreshing, I think, to actually see some of our politicians taking a stand against the anti-Muslim belief that's been pretty prevalent for a while in our country instead of just catering to the popular belief in the hopes of getting reelected.

XD

Nah, I don't want anyone getting hurt for professing their beliefs. That's exactly why I think this whole mess is stupid in the first place.

Thanks. ...and to be honest, I agree, it's ridiculous.  Doing this is gonna put our troops in danger, and I definitely think this is a bad idea.

I have a missionary friend who visited Pakistan, and a local Imam accidentally dropped his Quran on the floor during a Friday service (the guy was old and had arthritis), it was a total accident, and he said "Oops, oh my goodness, my apologies!" to everyone, but 2 days later, he was found shot dead (some locals claimed to have done it).  If [certain] Muslims would kill their own Imam for doing something like "Accidentally dropping a Quran", they'll do something even worse in reaction to "infidel" people burning Qurans.

You've also got to remember: That didn't happen here. As an American, his rights to do this thing will possibly be protected by the government, so if anything, the radical Muslims who would overreact and do something like that will end up just spreading more hate against America, and we'll suffer as a country for the actions of a single man.

Exactly. (that was my point )

Personally, I think it'd be freakin' hilarious if some people marched up when he was burning them and threw some Bibles onto the fire. I have no problem with the Bible itself, but it would be a beautiful counter-protest.

This pretty much sums up everything I want to say in this topic.

If it were the Bible, Christians would be pissed, so I think the Muslims have their right to be pissed, too.

There really isn't any more for me to add that hasn't already been said. Just a group of hateful extremeists who 1: can't wrap their head around the notion of extremists (how ironic), and 2: don't seem to understand what sort of image this would give off (again ironically).

Problem? :troll:

In all seriousness, the guy leading this turns out to be a cult leader who was kicked out of Germany:

The guy decided not to go through with it, according to today's news.  However, another church says they wanna do it now....

He apparently just said it's on 'hold', not canceled. He wants them to move the center so he doesn't do it.

Yeah, both him and the Iman accuse each other of lying.

I find it completely asinine that he's trying to force the Mosque to move with this :| Seriously, what a selfish dickhead.

Ah, I was wondering when a topic like this would appear. I honestly think the dude is making a boo boo. Why? Because we got our troop homies in the country of the book that country's religion is based off of.

Yeah, that's the reason he's getting flak from the government. He has the Constitutional right to do this, but it would most likely endanger American lives.

Yeah, that's why the government should not give a damn about what happens, just stop him at ALL costs, or 9/11 is gonna happen all over again.

If they actually tell him that he can't do it, though, and try to legally enforce it, he'll be protected by the Constitution and the Supreme Court will override whoever said he can't. There's really nothing they can do, short of having the FBI assassinate him or something.

Well ain't there something they could do? I mean really, they're putting the whole damn country in danger.
