Sabre
Ok, I left this thread a while ago but I have to ask, in danger of what? I would assume terrorism, but if that's the case then they have won, or at least got to you.
Sapphire
Well 9/11. We're in danger of having another 9/11 happening again if their book gets burned.
Sabre
ok..."I demand free icecream, and foot rubs! If you don't comply I will crash a plane into something. I don't hear ice cream vans..."...see, it's crazy. Oddly enough, I don't think this would have been an issue had you decided to rebuild the building.Basicly, terrorism is a spoilt child that will cry if you dont give it what it wants. By giving it what it wants, you make them want more.

By giving it what it wants, you make them want more. That entire example is a flawed premise. Lrn2trollIf this man carries out his plan to burn a buttload of Qurans, the radical Muslims - those same Muslims who committed 9/11, and those same Muslims who were causing this situation in the first place - will use it as more fuel for their hate, possibly further endangering American soldiers or even civilians if these radicals respond violently, which - as the word 'radical' implies - is a distinct possibility. Guest Julius Quasar
Yeah, that's the reason he's getting flak from the government. He has the Constitutional right to do this, but it would most likely endanger American lives.^ Yeah.(Slightly off topic, but I wonder where the Hell Osama Bin Laden is in all this, Assuming he's still alive, I'm sure he's heard of this by now, why the hell is he and Dr. Al-Zwahari so quiet lately?) DZComposer
NATO commanders in Afghanistan have been reporting a spike in incidents since this went public. Also, lots of new Al-Quieda and Taliban propaganda featuring this has been produced. Basically, this guy is not helping. You don't combat radical religion by burning the holy book of that religion. That makes it easier for them to recruit as they can go "See? They DO want to destroy Islam: They're burning Qu'rans!"The sad thing is that this guy only has 50 people in his church, yet the media is giving him a big soapbox. The guy's a control freak, and wants to increase the number of people under his control. Read the Der Speigel article I linked earlier.
Konchaski
Frankly I wish the media would play this over the stupid idiots who want to burn the Quran. Sadly to say, people who need to know this kind of thing, won't ever read anything like this, or hey won't believe it or ignore it. Or faillogic a reason why it was always wrong and evil in the first place. "User"
Go on and on about 911Well, part of it has to do with our close proximity to the U.S. because they influence us a lot with their news, economy, foreign policy, etc. Second, Canada is considered by some U.S. officials a "safe haven" for terrorists which is funny because a lot of international officials are viewing the United States as "Fortress America" when it comes to things like immigration, trade, etc. Trade between Canada and the U.S. is worth billions and billions a year and since 9/11 and the stupid new passport polices and other "protectionist" crap businesses on both sides are losing out. Both countries are more similar then you might think Sabre as I've done my fair share of travel in the states over the last few years, but yeah, we are heavily influenced by anything that goes down in the states. Furthermore the Greater Toronto Area is an extremely multicultural area (like New York City) so stuff like this is more "worth a damn" then in other areas of Canada (which are still very tolerant of multiculturalism)
