Sabre
As most people probley know, I don't like nostalgia as it idolises crap and paints things with a rose tint that didn't exsist. Never the less, I recently say the FMV intro to Sonic Adventures and heard Para Roach - Last Resort, combined with Future cop and the recent episode of opinionated star trek where they recover a super soldier from the 90s according to the 60s and you could level a small building with the recent nostalgia bomb. The late 90s to early 2000s is my "wheelhouse" as the kids say.Someone said that the 80s are the new 60s in that they are close enough to be remembered, but far enough away to exsist with exagerated steriotypes. I think that's the 90s in a way.I think I might try and play Die Hard Trilogy and Ace Combat 2 to see if I can raise the level enough to briefly escape my perminant melancholy. Anyone fancy it? Xortberg
Oh God, I loved the 90's. Those were my years, right there. Only in the 90's could you turn on a kid's show like the Power Rangers and be greeted by the most bada** metal theme song in existence.Hell, the 90's were full of awesome music. People actually needed talent back in my day. None of this autotuning crap. And definitely no Lady Gaga.

That being said, I personally preferred the 80's. Music in general back then from extremely popular bands (that are still popular today) were better in that decade. The same goes with cartoons, although the 90's had some good cartoons as well. Furthermore, seeing my dad with long hair ass hair in a picture back from '81 shortly after he finished med school is probably the most epic photo I've seen.

DZComposer
I think people are too fond of the 90s. The 90s were the beginning of the end of art, if you will. The 90s brought us manufactured entertainment. It didn't get everywhere until the early 2000s, but the 90s was where this started.Yeah, the technological innovations were great, but the people and pop culture sucked, albeit not nearly as bad as today. The 90s are when Generation X started to take over the world. Vietnam had ended when they were born, and by the time they grew up, they wanted to get paid. It was all about the money from that point forward. And like you said, you are a bit older than me, so you do have more crap to remember than I do.Most of my love for this decade comes from the general feel associated with my childhood. I've also been revisiting the parts I vaguely remembered, and I've been listening to a lot of music from the 90's. Barenaked Ladies, Everclear, etc. Good stuff there. I do that do sometimes, mostly stuff from the early 2000s, like watch cartoons like Hey Arnold,Recess, and RugratsSorry, couldn't resist adding in my favorite show of the mid to late 90s (One of the best theme songs ever created starts at 1:00 in the vid)NVCKkd2pfB4

With shows based off of toys, to sell toys, on a limited animation budget, yeah. 90s cartoons had a lot of that too, but they also had a lot of non-merchandise riven things too. The pop culture wasn't terrible either, and really neither is the 2000s, we just don't have NOSTALGIA BLINDNESS for the 2000s.ITT everything was better when you were 12. As I said in the first post, I have no love for the past or nostalgia blindness. That said, Gargoyles, Reboot and possably Biker Mice are all good. It was also the decade of Resident Evil 2. The same decade that brought us Beast Wars and Nintendo 64 also brought us the Yugo-Slavia conflict, Bill Clinton outsourcing jobs to China, and so forth. Its all about balance. Star Fox Runner
I was born in 92, but I like that I was born then, the 90's saw the creation of Star Fox! And the 90s was the era of the Nintendo 64, and that remains my favorite console. Most of my fondest memories are of when my brother and I would spend the days playing Mario Kart, Banjo Kazooie, Star Fox 64, Star Wars Rouge Squadron, and Super Mario 64. A memory that will stick with me forever is when my brother and I found out James was alive at the end of SF64, the looks on our faces was that of pure astonishment!Plus that was back when my brother and I were best friends. After that, we fell into this thing where we fought all the time, more than you are supposed to. Now we just tolerate each other.I don't miss the 90s for the nostalgia really, I miss the 90's because those were my early years of life, everything to me was bright, naive, and innocent. Now, things just seem like they're leading down a dark path to nowhere. In all honesty, I would give anything to have that feeling of being a child again, even if it was just for a moment. Guest Julius Quasar
I hated the '90's.The only good things about the '90's were the video games, particularly Star Fox being introduced to the public in '93, the fact the games weren't so @#$% complicated, yet they weren't too primitive either...the underground music scene was good, there were some good TV shows, on Nickelodeon and Fox...but that's it. Everything else about the '90's sucked. I preferred the '80's, more music in that time, both mainstream and off the beaten path, was sooo much better, and we had great movies, and a few good TV shows. The Shaper
I was born in the 90's, the music was terrible, and I had school so it wasn't a great time, but then again I had school last year so it wasn't all bad. I was a kid in the 90's grew up with the N64, then I switched to the PS2 and then my cousin's introduced me to the xbox which I'm using now, of course star fox is still my favorite game franchise. Games and TV were at an apex in the 90s, yeah. Underground stuff was good too, it was the beginning of the end for the animation age ghetto (albeit its still ongoing, it started in the 90s). Politics wise, it was a mixed bag. Say what you will about Bill Clinton (I personally don't like him), but we DID get a surplus in the 90s. And never before or since. The infamous Genesis vs SNES wars (I'm thinking SPECIFICALLY 1994) was, IMO, the most brutal competition when it came to video game consoles. SNES was easily the better system from a tech standpoint but the Genesis had it's pros - specifically with sports games and other types of games. Nintendo's games were more kid friendly in comparison to their Genesis counterpart (thinking of Mortal Kombat here).I personally didn't like Turbografx16 and 3DO, the consoles wars in the early 90's were dominated by Sega and Nintendo.
