CrypticQuery
Really, flying cars don't have much of an advantage over what we drive now. As Rob stated before, it poses more of a danger than an improvement. People don't pay attention while driving on the ground, so imagine that, but in the air. That thought, coupled with all the large buildings, power lines, billboards, and other obstacles, would be hell. When you crash, the only direction to go is DOWN . It'd be only 2 feet above the ground maximum at least. Also, I figured out how the XG3 bikes work: Their way more stream-lined to make much tighter turns. Wheels on the ground = traction. And if you're gonna be that low anyway, whats even the point?

While I think'a that's actually pretty true (And man I HATE IT when people run over animals ).Also, hover does not depends on the type o' ground. Which means, it would be possible to hover over a lake without your car sinking.

Which means, it would be possible to hover over a lake without your car sinking.I'm actually pretty sure that a car wouldn't be able to hover over water. To hover, it would probably have to have ground a reasonable distance from it. The idea of a hover-car driving flawlessly from the ground to the middle of a lake implies that it would also be able to reach the top of a hill and just continue on a straight path without losing altitude. Water is less solid than earth, so the car's hover mechanisms would either not work above it or it would be impossible to keep the hovering height uniform, resulting in flying cars, which we've already discussed not working. He mentioned hovering over water. You seemed to agree with him, and even if you didn't, I was mostly responding to him in the first place. I simply stated why "hovering" over water would probably be impossible, and would instead need flying cars.

ARWINGCOMMANDER 3987
By the way, would it be possible for anybody to race on something like this http://fc09.deviantart.net/fs49/f/2009/194/a/e/Hoverbike_Final_Concept_by_ZackF.jpg at beyond the sound barrier and stay on their driver seat? If so, how? (Yes I know it's a crazy question)

Despite everything, hovercars woulda be saf'r.Perhaps mor' reliable too. Since probab'y the power source would be more energy saving, as well as the engine. Guest Julius Quasar
Sorry to say this, but hover cars may end up getting the same "Hall of Shame" status as the Nintendo Power Glove.

ARWINGCOMMANDER 3987
Can a''ways try.Yeah, and I've even been learning how it would work lately. Ex: A motorcycle that would be able to turn into a hover bike like this would need something to hold it in the air while the turbines/wheels activate for it to start hovering.
