she walked over to him and put her arm around him in a friendly and inviting way, she had never seen someone this traumatized before. Her eyes had changed to a cyan blue, she wanted to help desperately, but she didnt know what to do. she could only comfort him, try to make him calm down

"im so sorry.............." she said softly. she hated watching him cry in agony like this.......she rubbed his back and calmly stated

"you never deserved any of that, neither did the people on Cerinia.........try to calm down........" she said, trying to comfort him as best as she could

Kay sobbed, but more softly than before as Star held him. In his Russian tongue, he said, "... I kogdaprints uvidel drakonapepla , chto kogda-to byli svoi vladeniya , on vypustilyarosti , kotorye potryaslizvezd, mnogie miry svoego vraga, sozhgli i umer, rasa, kotoraya ubila yego stanovit·syalishʹ tenʹyuvlasti odin raz sostoyalsya . Ot smerti odnogo mira , prishelgibeli mnogih ." (... And when the dragon prince saw the ashes of what had once been his domain, he let loose a fury that shook the stars; the many worlds of his enemy burned and died, the race that killed him becoming a mere shadow of the power it once held. From the death of one world, came the deaths of many.) To any ignorant in the cryptic speeches of dragon-shifters, this would sound like something out of a holy text. But to those who could listen, this was the story of what Kyle Indari did when he left Cerinia - avenged the death of his world. If one was truly perceptive, they would see that the death of Cerinia, combined with the many things he suffered through over the course of his life and the wars he fought, had turned him into a Marauder - a predator, forced to live like he did because everyone feared him, misunderstood him.

No one had ever had the courage or the heart to listen to his cries because they ran and hid in fear at the very sight of him - his very presence striking fear into the hearts of many. He had grown so accustomed to it, that when Star offered her kindness, it struck a chord; after the fall of Cerinia, Kay had nothing left. He was forced to live off the grid - no phone, no address. Nothing and no one could find him. He had been alone, living in a constant game of cat-and-mouse, always looking over his shoulder, always looking for ulterior motives to other people's seemingly-friendly demeanor.

Now, facing a person, the first person to offer what no one else had before, Kay wondered; can I trust her? Or will she back-stab me, as so many others have? Can she really see into my scarred heart?

as she heard the russian she knew what he meant by that speech......his trials and hardships have taken a total on his emotional and mental structure.

"kay, i see you've calmed a bit." she said with a smile on her face

"the scars you have, if it's alright, i would like to heal them for you" she said, looking at his face

"i have the ability to fully heal the body, and i think it would be a great way to show you im grateful, for what you did back at the arena, you saved my life instead of letting me die alone............i really appreciate it. now the process may only hurt a very small bit, but im warning you ahead of time so you dont think im hurting you on purpose" she said, still in a sincere voice

"i want to help kay.....but in order for me to do that, you just have to trust me" she gave him a look of sincerity and kindness, she knew he couldn't trust her right away, but within time, he would find she is a very sweet person. she has made a promise, to help anyone who needs it, and this is not an exception. she was going to see that he has someone who cares for and understands him, someone who will listen, someone who will help him if he needs it. she wanted to be that person

Kay simply stared at Star, his eyes still watery, but filled with curiosity. He was about to say something, about to give his approval, but he couldn't speak.

Finally, he said, "The scars of my body... could possibly be healed; but they are physical things, and will fade with time." He tapped two fingers to his head, then his heart as he added, "But the scars here... and here... are deeper than you realize - these scars I will have to carry for the rest of my life. One does not survive my life and emerge unscathed. You want to heal the scars of my body, and I have no compunctions over that. Do what you must."

Star looked at him with sincerity, then put her hands on his scars softly and healed them, watching them dissappear as the healing process continues. they have all soon faded away, not a scar to be seen.

"there" she said with a smile.

"you hungry? im willing to buy ya something to eat if you would like........" she asked in a friendly way

Kay chuckled to himself. "Over the years, I've learned to eat anything edible - what do you have in mind?" He felt along his muzzle, feeling nothing but smooth skin and fur where his scars had been. "Bear in mind, however, I'm going to need to... change my appearance... if I am to walk freely among the complex again." He unholstered his El-Aurian Disruptor, powering it down and setting it next to Star's Pistol.

"thats a good point......i mean you DID almost kill a man" she laughed a bit. She looked at kay, then got a very strange vibe. something told her he was here, in the complex, and he was trying to find her

"oh god....................shit!" she said, worrying about who was here

"kay, i want you to bring that weapon, do anything you can to kill this person, i dont care what it is" she said as she hands him a picture of a brown vulpin, about the age of 23. he had dark red eyes, and she almost looked similar to star herself. this was Star's brother.

"Thats my brother .........i feel he's somewhere in the complex. He's not a very reasonable person when it comes to me and or anyone who knows anything about me. ever since my moms murder, he's been very agressive. i think he may have something to do with it, but he cant know im here" she said shaking in fear. she thought he had givin up, but apparently not.

Kay got a sinister smile. "My dear Star," he said, "He will not be able to harm you as long as you stay with me - if need be, I will hunt him as I hunted so many others like him, because hunting... is my specialty." Kay grabbed his disruptor, then wired his mask to his face. "If he is here, we must go - But I must ask; what is it you wish upon him? I can do more than kill him - I can show him something that will keep him away from you for good, if you so desire."

"anything to keep him the f*ck away from me.................thank you kay..........i appreciate it" she said as she grabed her gun

****

"i want you to search the area, look everywhere, we will not rest til we find her"said the brown vulpin as he commanded several larger men

"i will find you Star.......................and i swear, i will kill you" he said as he smirked

(A pic of the Yaut'ja Shuriken: http://www.mobydiskrecords.es/images/alien_vs_predator_shuriken_replica.jpg )

Kay moved out into the hall, and promptly ran into one of Star's brother's henchmen. He sent a concussive blast that sent him flying, unholstering his El-Aurian disruptor as the man flew. He armed it, the disruptor emitter lowering itself. It powered up, and Kay sent a full-power disruptor bolt into the man, vaporizing him in seconds. Kyle then holstered the disruptor, unlimbering two Yaut'ja Shurikens. he armed both of them, six long, razor-sharp blades made of metal stronger than durasteel appearing in seconds. He cocked his arms, then threw both of them. Both shurikens flew down the hall, eviscerating and decapitating the henchmen in their path. They narrowly missed the brown vulpin as they curved around his head, then returned to Kay's hands. Kay disarmed them both, arming a wrist blade with a loud SCHWIIINNGG!

(What's this guy's name?)

(damien) star gave damien a murderous look, as did damien to her.

"i thought you would have given up by now ya crazy dumbsh*t" she commented

"well i see you have a friend here" he said as he walked closer to them, a gun in hand.

"better watch your step Damien, it could be your last" she said, clenching her teeth

"ah, should i? would it really be necessary to kill your own brother?" he said with a smirk

"oh yes, it actually would" she said

With a single thought, a laser sight on the side of Kay's mask activated, and two plasma casters rose up over the dragon-shifter's shoulders. The targeting reticule locked on to Damien's head.

"Ostorozhno, tovarishch,"Kay said. "Few who have threatened a dragon-shifter have lived to tell the tale - fewer still live when they threaten that which a dragon-shifter protects." With a voice that had a growling, thrumming quality to it, Kay added, "You've got ten seconds to beat it before I add you to the list of casualties caused in one day."

he looked at kay, giving him the evil eye

"we will meet again sis" he said as he ran off

"wow...........that was.......AMAZING! you made it look so easy!" she said and looked at kay

"thank you! i appreciate what you did just now............i will make it up to you with some lunch. you a steak eater?" she asked

"Yes, as a matter of fact, I am," he finally replied. "I prefer a well-done nine-ounce sirloin steak, to be specific - but I've not eaten such things in... about ten years." Kay removed his mask, then felt where his scars had been. His face remained the way Star had left it. He looked at his mask, then replied, "But as I said - I need to change my appearance. I'm not convinced that a Cerinian Dragon-shifter wandering around in customized Yaut'ja armor marked with tribal markings is going to elicit... welcome comments."

she nodded

"i think there's a men's clothing store somewhere around here, xmmmmmm a kxadb a jun edo tend kxuk joskaed ev kxo semfcop, udt kxod we jkhuawxk, kxod a kxadb 0ei kubo u hawxk (translation: hmmmmmm i think i saw one down that section of the complex, and then go straight, then i think you take a right)" she said in a saurian tongue.

"oh, excuse my saurian, it slips out every now and then. but follow me, theres a mens clothing store somewhere." she said as she walked

"by the way, you ever done any hacking in your life?" she asked in curiosity

Kay stopped to laugh at Star's last question. "My dear, this gauntlet," he replied, indicating his right gauntlet, "houses one of the most advanced hacking devices known to this galaxy - I've used it to get out of more than one messy situation - I'd have to tell you about it sometime." Upon glancing at his right gauntlet, he realized the blade he armed earlier when he confronted Damien was still out - the 1.5-foot blade retracted as Kay pressed a button.

"As for your sudden Saurian speak - meh, don't fret; I'm fluent in Russian, and sometimes, it slips out as well. Trust me, I know the feeling." Kay walked with Star, until he asked, "So tell me... have you ever ridden on the back of a dragon before?"

"nope. never really thought of it, to busy trying to keep my ass alive" she chuckled

"and Im a hacker, a pro hacker that is. father got a death sentence for it, but he was a bas*ard" she said. she seemed to be gaining his trust, which made her happy.

"and i would love to hear about it, besides, one of the rooms in my apartment is full of hacking equipment. also you have anywhere to stay? my roommate moved out a couple months ago and there's an open room left if ya want it" she said.

Kay chuckled. "Love to," he said. He noticed a men's clothing store up ahead. Indicating it, he asked, "That the store you were talking about?"

(I just burned my finger cooking, so don't be surprised if this comes out misspelled.)

Kay chuckled. "Likewise, Star," he said. As he rummaged through the hanging clothes, he said, "You know, there's an old saying amongst us dragon-shifters... that you never truly know someone until you fight them." He picked out a military-style-camouflage shirt, then picked out the same pair of pants. He looked to Star. "What do you think - do these give me that 'less-intimidating-hunter look'?"

(its alright, i make typos all the time, so dont worry)

"yes actually, it does. it makes you seem like someone not to mess with, but also someone not to be as afraid of. i say get that" she said.

"and that's a nice saying they have, makes it totally true. Only im a little different. i get a whole life's story from physical contact with another person so even a graze of the hand, will let me know everything and anything about you. its strange really.........but you get used to it after due time" she said

Kay laughed. "Ha! You get used to being a dragon-shifter, but it's a lot harder," he said as he walked up to the check-out counter. "First year of learning to control my dragon-shifting, I woke up where I hadn't fallen fallen asleep on several different occasions - half the time, it was in the woods or the forest."

"nice. must be cool bein a dragon-shifter, having physical advantages over others" she said. she enjoyed his company.

"hey by the way, why were you chasing kyle anderson? what did he do?" she asked

Kay sighed. "Truthfully, he didn't do anything - he was just a... convenient person to hone my skills with. Normal people would do such things in a training sim, but I find such things to be neither practical nor efficient; I do my training, hone my skills, in the real world - on and across the many battlefields of the galaxy. As a fellow dragon-shifter, if Kyle knew my motives, he would understand.

"Why did I need to hone my skills? Well... it's a long story. Suffice to say, I was nearly killed during an op in Richesse - an urban world. It occurred to me that my urban combat skills had gotten... rusty. I had heard that Kyle was a dragon-shifter, and that he was here, so... I sought him out. Besides, what better way to hone your skills than with a fellow dragon-shifter? And a decorated combat veteran, and the son of a military family, on top of that.

"Besides, if you ask Kyle, he would confirm that he was warned about this - if cryptically."

"yeah i know.............hey sorry for shootin at ya. didn't mean to, i get aggressive in situations similar to the one we faced. but i understand what you mean, you needing a challenge similar in strength and agility, very good way to improve and get the thrill of a good battle" she said

"and yeah, i come armed, who doesn't these days with all these dangerous criminals running around, should have told ya earlier, but i dont plan on trying anything on you anytime soon. and that is a promise" she added
