"can you carry two people?" she asked. what she didnt know was someone was in a bush, located on the right of Star. he had his gun aimed and ready, with his finger on the trigger. Angel was actually paying attention that when he fired, star was protected by a force field made by angel herself, then was shot in the head with angels pistol.

"as you can see, THAT is why we come armed 24/7" said angel

"pay more attention next time Star, your just lucky i was here or the consequences could have been grave" she added in a serious voice

Kay snarled in a dragon's voice when the unknown assailant fired. In a deft move that was so fast, it looked as though his soul trailed behind him, he leapt to and hefted off his feet the assailant. He threw him into the street, unlimbering his two plasma katanas. The twin plasma blades came to life with a dual snap-hiss, and Kay held the katanas back-handed, the blades curving parallel up his arms. He advanced on the assassin, ready to kill...

"now i see why you brought him home" angel remarked

"and that is also why, you never wanna make him upset. very protective of himself and his allies" star answered

"KICK HIS ASS KAY! I DON'T WANT THAT ONE TO ESCAPE THIS TIME!" angel yelled

(Is this just some random assassin, or is it Damien again?)

(Ah. No problems then.)

Kay engaged the assassin with his twin plasma katanas. Though the assassin had a blade of his own, he did not know how to use it as well as the dragon-shifter he now found himself fighting. Kay moved his plasma katanas in graceful, speedy arcs, making this fight look more choreographed than actual fighting. It was when Kay knocked the assailant's blade out of his hands that Kay leapt over the assassin, back-stabbed him with his back turned, then whirled around with the other blade and sheared the assassin in half. Kay rose from his kill, traces of his dragon rage making his eyes glow red with power, extinguishing the blades of his plasma katanas and putting them back in his pockets. He surveyed the scene with his sapphire-blue dragon eyes, shifted to dragon form, and said, "Let's get going... before someone else ambushes us."

"Meh - don't fret," Kay said. "Combat keeps me sharp." Kay took to the air, circling the apartment complex once as he gained altitude, then headed back to the Mall/Supercomplex. He circled the mall once, then landed just shy of the entrance. "And, here we are again - the Cornerian Supercomplex."

(OK, I'm back - had a hell of a night at work. Long story short, a f***ing SWARM of people came in and WOULD NOT LEAVE!!!)

Kay opened the door for Star and Angel, saying again, "After you." He had a big smile on his face as he said this.

Kay chuckled, entering the complex after Star. He walked beside her, his eyes scanning for...

... Bingo. Kay spotted a restaraunt nearby that served his kind of food. The sign was labelled "Outback Steakhouse" (<---I've actually been to one of these). "Hnh," Kyle stated, "I wonder how an Outback Steakhouse restaraunt ended up here? Still - no matter. C'mon - I'm buying this."

"kay, i dont want you to have to spend your money......." she said

"Star, you can barely even hold a roof over our head, let alone pay for this" Angel said

"you work day and night, trying to earn any money you can. Heck, you stayed up for 3 nights straight, looking for a job! He offered to pay, now let him" angel added, giving her a serious look and a serious tone to top it off

star was silent, she knew Angel was right, but she felt bad making Kay pay for the dinner she had offered him.

(alright, ill be on in the morning S_D, see ya)

(G'night)

Kay put an arm around Star. "Don't fret, Star - I have money. I can pay for this - the least I could do for how you saved me... from myself. Were it not for you, I would still be a cynical marauder." He looked around as he waited for a waiter to seat them, as though making sure no one was watching or listening, then whispered in Star's ear, "Truth be told, tovarishch, my line of work - plus what I inherited after my father's death - put my money reserves at nearly 3.5 billion credits. I have that much. Just don't tell anyone."

A waiter came to seat them, and as Kay followed the waiter, he noticed a dance floor near his table. The band played old tunes as Kay sat down. Hnh, he thought, I guess Outback has changed a lot since the last time I visited one.

The song that she heard............the song that played.......was the one she played at her mothers funeral. She tried not to go into tears because of it. she held them back as she sat at the table. her eyes were soon a black as she looked at the menu, trying to act as though she was alright.

"Excuse me for a moment....." she said as she got up and walked into the back room, where no one was there. she then burst into tears, she couldn't hold it back any longer. She had bottled it up for years, never telling anyone about it. She had only told kay..........he was the first real friend she's had throughout her whole life. she couldn't take it anymore, she didnt want to live with the pain throughout the rest of her life...........she was going to try something that she hadn't really thought of til this very moment. she took out her gun and put it to her temple. she put her finger on the trigger, still thinking it through.

"should I do this? it would just end this whole thing, i would never feel pain ever again............" she thought to herself, sitting there, with her finger on the trigger, still thinking it over. what she didnt know was Angel was watching her...........she then walked to the table and gave an urgent look to kay, then signaled him to follow her quickly.

Kay followed Angel to Star, pulling the gun away from her head. She was in tears, sad - it reminded him of himself. He held her close, shushing her as she cried. Without consciously thinking of it, he began to go through the verses of a song he knew - one that told him that no matter the odds he faced, to never give in;

"Now the dark begins to rise, save your breath, it's far from over; leave the lost and dead behind, now's your chance to run for cover; I don't want to change the world, I just want to leave it colder - light the fuse and burn it up; take the path that leaves to nowhere: All is lost again, but I'm not giving in; I will not bow, I will not break! I will shut the world away! I will not fall, I will not fade; I will take your breath away."

"There was a time when I felt as you do now," Kyle whispered to Star. "But trust me when I say ending your life would only complicate things further. Unlike me, you have an adopted child; how would she take your death? How do you think I would feel if you - the only person who dared show such care to a marauder like myself - died?"

she cried softer as he held her, feeling better as he did. she then recited a quote she wrote a while back "the gunshot of depression, the sadness i feel, has taken its toll, the nightmare is real. the fear eats me away til there is nothing left to chew, as my happiness shrunk, my sadness just grew. the tears that i cried continued to shed, from then on i knew they wanted me dead....." she said softly. she sat there, staring at the floor. she soon set the gun down and was silent, having no words to say.

(btw the quote was something i wrote. if you knew what the kids tried to do, you would know what it means)

(Wow.)

Though Kay was a marauder, a predator that preyed on those that made themselves his enemy, he could not help but feel sorry for Star - Like himself, Star was in pain from the scars and wounds of what others had done. And Kay, though hardened from years of war and battle, was a kind soul, who felt Star's pain as his own. "Don't dwell on the pain, tovarishch," he said. "Instead, take strength and comfort from those around you." He gently lifted Star's head up, bringing her eyes to meet his own. "Know that you are not alone." He paused to wipe away Star's tears. He felt tears in his own eyes, seeing Star like this, then said, "Don't let this kill you."

(one hung me by my scarf, another tried to stab me with a pocket knife, and then one assulted me at their house . all the rest just tease me over an over. plus at home when i get hit there by my mom and or step dad.......)

she was suprised, she had never seen someone care for her this much. she stared at him, and soon nodded. she had finally found someone who cared for her, who felt her pain. she saw him tearing up over her, over how she felt. she knew that he really cared, she couldn't help but feel something for him. but she didnt know what to feel at the moment. she gave him a faint smile, she was happy

(ouch. Sounds like me - only they tried to kill me in a CHURCH, of all places. And they tried to LIGHT ME ON FIRE. Were there repercussions to this attempted murder? Hell no - my assailants just got talked to and let go.)

As Star smiled at Kay, he smiled back. He leaned over, whispering in Star's ear, "Know that I will not allow you to suffer as I have - no soul deserves to live through what I did."

Kay led Star outside, back to the main floor, back to their table. He sat down next to Star, and the waiter approached them. "What can I get for you to drink?" he asked as he set the menus down before the group. Kay skimmed through the menu, then replied, "I'll have a pepsi cola," He looked to Star. "Thirsty at all?"

(So it would seem)

"You need not do such a thing, Star," Kay said as the waiter left to get their drinks. "You've done enough on my behalf." Kay started skimming through the meals, looking for...

... found - and just his kind of meal, too - a 9-oz sirloin steak with a side of mashed potatoes and optional additions of butter, cheese, bacon bits, and other stuff on the side. "This looks good," he said.

It was then that the new band on-stage began to play a particular song.

"Really?" Kay scoffed with a shake of his head. "They're going to play this now?"

"geez............really?!" star said. she agreed, it was a bad time to play the song, but it was a worse time to play this song

. "oh no.....................not this one. this is why i hate bands who play the worst songs at the worst time possible" she said. this song was the one she said represented her the most, she loved the song but it was saddening to the soul if you felt the pain she and kay had felt. she looked at him to make sure he was ok. she then looked at the menu.

"if you know me well, im a steak fan, like you. only im a medium-rare type of person" she said

(i actually am a HUGE steak fan. i have eaten a whole 16 ounce medium rare one before then ate the rest of my gmas too, bill's steak house has THE BEST steak on earth. i also loves Ponderosa and Ruby Tuesdays)
