(First - I have that Evanescence song. It's called "Bring me to Life." Second - I, too, like my steaks medium-rare. They're THE BEST that way. I get my steaks at Colton's Steakhouse & Grill. BEST PART - I WORK THERE. I get my meals at discounted prices.)

As the waiter came back with their drinks, he asked, "Alright, can I take your order?"

"Yes, I'm having a 9-ounce sirloin steak, cooked well-done with a side of mashed potatoes with butter melted inside," Kay replied, setting his menu down. He indicated the band playing and asked, "Do those guys take requests?"

The waiter looked puzzled. "Um... yeah. I thought everyone knew that - it's on the sign outside." Kay thought for a moment, then looked to Star. "I don't suppose you like Nickelback?"

(YES! FINALLY! SOMEONE WHO LOVES MEDIUM RARE! i swear we have so much in common that it really is starting to get creepy lol. and yeah, i love that song. im a big evanescence, christina perri, within temptation fan. i like others but there are to many to list. and that aint fair! getting discounts on the BEST F*CKING FOOD ON THE WHOLE DAMN PLANET.........i envy you greatly)

"funny thing, ive never listened to one of their songs............mabey you can introduce me to one if you would like" star said

"and ill have the same, only make the steak medium rare please" star added

"this is getting creepy, you guys like the same things only a very small thing is different. it's like you were MADE for eachother or something" angel said

"well mabey its just a coincidence" star said. she blushed abit, but she didnt notice.

(lol sfc308, you make me laugh. My two most prevalent bands on MY music list are Linkin Park and Breaking Benjamin. I confess to being somewhat... picky that way. A lot of the songs from those bands [especially LP] I listen to because I can relate to the lyrics.)

"Alright," the waiter said as he took the menus, "I'll be back with your meals."

Kay chuckled at Angel's comment. "Excuse me," he said, getting up to make his request to the band on-stage. He returned moments later, notably irritated, but happy nonetheless. "They hadn't a clue about Nickelback, so I had them play a personal favorite of mine," he said. It was as he said this that the band began to play a more up-spirited-song:

"Just one of many favorites," Kay added before the guitars began.

(heh. linkin park is a good band i have to admit. and im a singer, so if you have any requests, i will sing it and put on YT for you to hear if you want. and im glad i make you laugh lol)

"good song kay. i like it" star said with a smile. she looked around at the resturaunt, she hasnt been to a restraunt in years so she is unfamiliar with it. she then took out something she held dear, something she has to remind her of her mother. It was a sapphire pendant cut into the shape of a tear. the stone was the size of the top half of your index finger. she placed it on her neck, clipping it on in the back. she woudn't dream of losing it, so she kept it with her at all times.

"my mother wore it before she was murdered........how Damien didnt know i had it, is a mystery to me." she chuckled

"but he was always an idiot" she added

Kay put an arm around Star. "Tovarishch," he said, "Like I said - don't dwell on the pain. Don't dwell on your past - live in the present." As he said "don't dwell on the past," he reached his other hand up, feeling where he had the scars - they weren't there, but he felt as though he could still feel them. "Trust me, I know all too well the dangers inherent to such things. As I said earlier, I will not let you suffer what I had to live through - you deserve better than that."

"awwwwwww! thats very sweet of you kay!" she said. she looked around, making sure damien wouldn't just jump out an attack or somthin. its happened before, she would be sitting with her daughter somewhere and he would pop out and shoot at her.

"did kay really get that bastard to leave me alone?" she thought to herself in a little bit of joy

"alright, ill try to be a bit more positive" she said

"Yeah, speaking of joy, here comes our food," Kay said. The waiter came with plates in hand.

"Okay," he said, "One well-done steak, and one medium-rare steak - will there be anything else?"

Kay looked to Angel. "You want anything?" he asked.

"i guess im good for today" she said.

"you didn't eat breakfast, nor lunch today......you alright?" star asked in a worried tone

"im fine" angel replied, her ice blue eyes aimed at star. star was worried about Angel, she has never not wanted to eat before. she seemed fine, but this was just not normal

"you sure?" star asked

"yeah" angel said

"alright then.............." she said as she dug into her steak, still worring for angel

As the waiter left, Kay dug into his steak. It was as he began to eat when a familiar voice said, "So you two made nice, eh?" Kay looked up and saw Kyle and Anna standing there. Kyle had his modified Klingon disruptor in it's holster, but the holster was undone - and it made Kay nervous. His hand put the fork down, then drifted toward his El-Aurian disruptor. "Don't worry, I won't make a move on you," Kyle said. Anna sat down at the booth behind Kay and Star. Kyle looked to Star and said, "We were a bit worried after you disappeared in the laser tag arena - thought you died."

Kay scoffed, then said, "Vam ne nuzhno bespokoitʹsya , chto proizoshlo mezhdu ona i ya." (You need not concern yourself with what happened between she and I.)

Kyle laughed, saying, "Vryad li , tovarishch." (Hardly, comrade.)

As Kyle sat with his wife, Kay's hand picked up the fork again to eat. "That went well."

"yeah it did didnt it" star said in agreement

"you know these two?" Angel asked

"yeah. guys, that is my daughter Angel. Angel, that is Kyle and Anna" star said

"Charmed" Angel said in a serious tone, keeping an eye on kyle and Anna with her ice blue eyes, enough to give you a chill.

"fine....." angel said, still keeping an eye on them

Kyle laughed. "Don't worry, Angel - you can trust us. As a Dragon-shifter, Kay here would know if my intentions were hostile - all dragon-shifters have a unique sixth sense that sends shivers up their spines when danger approaches." He bumped Anna lightly and added, "Ask Anna - she would know. It saved our lives on multiple occasions."

Kay sighed, then said, "Tipichnye nedoverie v storonu, Kaĭl prav." (Typical mistrust aside, Kyle is right.) "I would get a shiver up my spine when danger approaches; the colder the shiver, the closer it is." He took another bite of his steak, then sipped from his pepsi. He downed another bite of his steak and asked,

"Hey star - can I ask you something?"

"of course Kay, what is it?" she asked with a smile.

"and i am glad you have no intentions kyle, besides, telepaths like myself and star would easily be able to know if you were THINKING to attack us. and that shiver thing, just like star and her brother. she can feel his presence when hes within 200 feet of her" angel said

Kay sighed, then asked, "Why were you willing to reach out to me... when others thought I was beyond reason? How is it you were able to see under my... mask, my appearance of hate and rage... where others couldn't see past my scowl?"

[Guest]

"because...........i remember the last time someone felt like that. i neglected them and they soon committed suicide afterwards. i didnt want that to happen to you kay..........not after seeing that she hung herself in her home. i promised never to neglect another living soul, no matter how large or small the problem. something about you made me want to help you out, you couldn't trust anyone, your thoughts were filled with rage and mistrust towards others.....you felt alone, like you had no one. i would never let someone who could be the nicest person on the planet feel like that the rest of his life......i couldn't let you be like that kay. No one should be neglected like you were, no one should have to deal with what you did, not even you should have had that fate. The other reason is..........i can't explain it...........it's to complicated" she said, her eyes changed to a very neon pink.

Kay chuckled. "If it's complicated, I won't force the issue," he said. "But... I thank you. Until today, I... no one ever..." He sighed, running a hand through his hair. "I spent so much time... hunting... that I forgot what it means to be... well... at peace." He shook his head, his hand curling up into a fist, but he released it. "Since the fall of Cerinia, I was always at war - always fighting, always moving, trying to stay two to three steps ahead of the enemy. It continued for so long... I forgot what it's absence felt like. Absence of conflict, of war... Now I find myself looking forward to the next day - not dreading it, fearing what will happen."

"your very welcome kay..........im always here for you" she said in a friendly tone.

"your the first person who hasn't called me a freak, then neglected me because of it. I have been neglected a good education because of my psychic abilities. i had to learn street smarts, teaching myself and myself alone. never had a real friend who isn't dead..............i was about put in jail for them too. they dont know that i cant really get rid of them, they are with me for the rest of my life." star said.

"i would never neglect a nice person like you" she added

Kay smiled. Having a friend like Star... would take some getting used to. The waiter came with the bill, and Kyle glanced at it. "Hnh," he said, "A lot less than I thought it'd be." He slapped the required credits plus a tip down and handed it to the Waiter. The waiter - surprised to get such a tip from Kay - kept his "holy s**t" comment to himself. The band on-stage began to play a song that stirred something in Kyle's mind:

He looked to Star. "I don't suppose you can slow-dance?"

star blushed heavily "ummm yes.....i-i can actually" she said, nervously.

"i-it's been quite a while since i last did though" she added

[Star_Dragon]

Kay chuckled. "It's okay, I haven't danced in a long time, either - last time being... well, before... Cerinia." he said, knowing he didn't need to say anything more to imply what he meant. He held his hand out, ready to lead Star to the Dance floor.

star took his hand and followed him to the dance floor. she was so nervous at this point she felt sick, but she shook it off. she looked at kay and started to slow dance with him, her cheeks were extremely red at this point. she was speechless, silent as she slow danced with kay. Angel watched them as they did, she felt happy for star and kay. they made eachother's lives a little bit better

Kay slow-danced with Star, both of them silent. His hands trembled, and his heart beat like a trip-hammer - but he controlled it.

Finally, Kay broke the silence. "Anywhere you want to go after this?" he asked.

"n-not th-that im aware of...........anywhere you wanna go Kay?" she asked nervously. she was nervous, she couldn't think of anything else but kay and not to screw this dance up.

"i think she likes him" angel whispered to kyle

"i dunno bout him tho" she added

[Star_Dragon]

Kyle chuckled at Angel's comment. "Trust me, kiddo - he likes her. Hell, he may love her, but he's afraid to show it; he doesn't know if he'll be able to bear the toll if something were to happen to Star. I know because I, myself, went through the same situation."

"Angel," Anna said, "When Kyle and I met, he didn't trust anyone - but after we escaped the environment we lived in, we came to love each other so much, we never go anywhere alone."

"And believe me, Angel," Kyle added, "Kay knows he'd be an idiot to turn Star away. Take it from a fellow dragon-shifter, if she touches his heart right, there won't be a single doubt on his mind; forever will she be in his heart - and what a dragon-shifter keeps in his heart, he will fight to protect. But we have spoken enough of this - and we do them both a disservice by speaking of this while they are not present."

Kay noticed Star's apprehension. He stroked her cheek and said softly, "Hey - relax. Don't be so nervous - it's not like someone's going to chastise you for wandering around with a dragon-shifter."

as he touched her cheek, she calmed abit "i-it's not that...............its the fact i dont want to make a fool of myself. i really dont like to make a fool of myself in public..........especially in front of specific kinds of people who i-" she said then cut herself off shyly

"just tell him!" angel said telepathically

"just tell him you love him! they are three easy words, you just gotta find the right way to say'em!" Angel added

star looked at angel, then looked back at kay

"god..............i dont know what to say. do i tell him? i dont know anymore!" star thought to herself

Kay looked deep into Star's eyes. Normally, the sight of his Sapphire dragon-eyes staring them down made anyone - save for the Dragonarians - shudder. But Star was different. His voice was soft and gentle as he said, "You needn't worry about that, Star - just relax. Everything will be fine... trust me."
