'Well I uh...umm...hmm I don't know what she will say being the fact she is with Kay and...Oh god, Kay! why he would tear me to bits! I don't know what to even say', Zack replied back nervously.

Kay laid down next to Star, holding her close as his gunshot wound still throbbed, and drifted off to sleep. In his sleep, he saw... a vision. Something not even he remembered. From a time just after the end of the Marauder war. He was on his knees, weakened and unable to fight. His physical body jerked and twitched as he felt every agonizing shot as a band of humans fired shotguns at him. When they stopped, Kay could feel the pain, groaning even as he slept. The leader of this band of rogues - a half-bald man - raised a .50-cal Desert Eagle, pointed it at his head, and...

BOOM!

The gunshot rocked through his head, and Kay awoke with a loud scream. He panted heavily. His whole body trembled. If he woke Star, he didn't notice. He felt a sensation that told him that several hours had passed. And something was wrong. horribly wrong. He always knew he had a scar from a bullet wound to the head, but he knew not where he got it from. Facing this... vision, this dream, it seemed to explain where that scar had come from. All he knew for certain that if these men knew he was alive, they would try again. He, Star and Angel were in terrible danger.

Star quickly jearked up and looked at kay

" Kay! Are you alright?!" she screamed in concern, looking at him with a scared and concerned expression

Kay tried to stand up, but the mere memory of his "death by firing squad" experience rocked through his head again. His chest hurt so bad, he doubled over in pain, falling face first into the nightstand. His forehead hit with a loud thump! and knocked Kay unconscious. He dropped motionless to the floor.

Star jumped to her feet and went right to his aid. Tears flowed out of her eyes as she looked at kay's unconscious body, grabbing him gently off of the ground and setting him on the bed. She sat next to him and watched him, waiting for him to awaken

"kay......." she said quietly in a worried tone

Kay didn't even budge. He couldn't. He was unconscious... or so he thought. Truth was, while that smack to his head knocked him out, it did not stop his telepathy. For the first half hour, he didn't even realize it. Finally, he tried to send a message to Star.

Star, if you can hear me... find my medical gear. It should be in the closet. Inside, you will find a small device that goes over my forehead. Find that, activate it, and put it on my forehead. If you cannot, find Voro. But hurry - I don't know how long I can do this. Hurry...

Star quickly got up and found his medical gear. She searched for the small device quickly, shifting though the various objects inside. After she found it, she quickly activated it and put it on him. She whiped tears away as more came streaming from her eyes.

"please be ok" she said quietly

Kay heard a faint, rapid beeping. The dark cloud that blocked his vision drifted away, and Kay slowly opened his eyes. He could barely see, so he reached out with a hand. "Star... where are... you?" he groaned.

Kay's vision cleared gradually, and he could just barely make out Star's face. "I... can't see. What... what... happened?" Still recovering from getting knocked unconscious, it took effort to speak.

"you woke up screaming and hit your head on the side table....." star said, tears dripping off her face onto the hand that was holding Kay's.

Kay reached out, wiping away Star's tears as his vision cleared. "Star," he said softly, "It's okay." He slowly sat up, hugging Star. "It's not your fault." Kay could still hear the gunshot that pierced his skull in his mind. He gently kissed Star on her lips, then added, "You didn't do this to me." He reached up where his gunshot scar had originally been, feeling blood leaking from it, but it was not there. The area where the scar had been remained the way Star had left it so long ago.

'Well don't you think I should wait until she wakes up?', Zack asked,'and besides I don't know where her room is', he added.

Kay shushed Star as she cried. He held her close, removing the device on his head and tossing it onto the nightstand. He gently rocked Star as she cried, humming the song that played when they first admitted their feelings for one another - humming to her the Hymn to Under Cover of Night.

"I know," Kay whispered. "I would be, too, if the same had happened to you." He sighed, then added, "What woke me up screaming was... a..." he paused. How could he tell Star that he had a memory of his own death? He didn't know. But he didn't want to keep a secret from Star. "It was a... memory. Something I had not remembered until it came to me in my dream. I... saw myself... facing a band of criminals. I remembered... how they shot me, again and again, until their leader shot me... here." He pointed to the area where his gunshot scar had been. "I... think that I may have been..." He stopped, unable to continue. It was a horrifying experience, to re-live one's own death. Far more terrible, however, was to tell the one woman he loved that they were all in danger.

Kay sighed. "I was dead. But that's not the point - the men who did this to me are still out there, and we are all in danger - you, me, Angel, everyone." He looked to Star, tears in his eyes. "I lost my family once - I don't want it to happen again."

"Star..." Kay started.

"Kyle," said an echoing voice, "She is right."

Kay frowned, tears streaming down his face. He knew this voice. "Draco...?" he whispered.

"Well, who else?" the voice affirmed. "Come outside, into the Complex. I want to talk to you."

Kay felt compelled to obey, but as he reached for his weapons, Draco said, "Your weapons... you will not need them. No one is in the Complex but I. Unless someone is hiding here at 11:49 at night."

Kay got up, walking outside to see a large blue spirit appear before him. The figure cleared up and Kay saw Draco sitting before him. "Been a long time," he said.

Kay shook all over, having come face-to-face with an old friend. Tears welled up in his eyes, streaming like rivers down his face. "H... h-how?"

"I was not as dead as you had previously thought. And I have much to explain to you."
