Flux noticed the change in her voice tone, and his left ear slanted to the side along with a confused expression on his face. "Something wrong?" He pointed out, noticing a waiter around, he decided to make sure everything was okay before calling a waiter over.

Blinking in realization, the Alaskan blushed, clasping her hands together in her lap and shaking her head.  "It's fine." she reassured him.  "Just thinking is all."

Flux still wasn't too sure, but he didn't want to worry about something on a wonderful night out. "Alright. Mind sharing those thoughts?" He asked with a grin, just wanting her to feel comfortable.

A waiter soon came over to the table, and handed the two menus. "May I get you both something to drink while you wait?" he asked.

Flux shook his head. "Water should be just fine with me." he started, then faced kaida. "What would you like?"

With a light roll of her eyes, Kaida was about to tell Flux what was on her mind.  However, the waiter interrupted.  It was his job, though, so she wasn't upset with him.

Unlike the lady behind the counter who sold them his cargo pants...Speaking of those, where were they?

"Um...I don't suppose you have hot chocolate here?" asked the Klee Kai rather hopefully.

"Why yes. We do have some. Would you like to have a cup of it?" The waiter asked respectfully, and not snotty as some might get if you were to ask for hot chocolate at a fine end restaurant.

Flux snapped to realization and looked around and saw the bag with his cargo pants in them there next to him. "Oh, there they are. My mind must have blanked or something." He spoke softly to himself.

She liked this waiter.  In some fine end restaurants, the waiters would get all snotty when someone asked for hot chocolate, but not this guy.  "Yes, please." she said with a sincere smile and nod.

"It was..." she agreed, then turned her eyes again towards the table.  "Well...you know, just thinking too much about money and what to spend and what not to spend and...all that sort of thing."  Bringing a smile to her muzzle, however, and not a very genuine one at that due to her current thoughts, Kaida said, "But it's okay.  Like I said, I'm just thinking too hard on it."

Flux smiled, and was a little relieved. "Well then here! I'll just pay for it. There is no worries on that at all. Save your money for school, or housing, or something important." He said happily, understanding that money was tight. "I might be saving up for it still, but I don't even know what to major in, so school funds are not an issue on my end. As I said before, I can afford a nice meal for us." He reassured happily.

'Dang it, I'm making him worry again...'

"No, please," she insisted, raising her eyes to meet Flux's.  "You already paid for both of our movie tickets, Flux.  And I'm not trying to say in any way that you're poor or anything like it, but I don't want you wasting all of your money on me..."

Well... I kinda am poor, really... But that isn't the point!

Flux shrugged. "Alright, fine." He gave in simply, and then refocuses on her. "So long as you realize not one penny I used here so far was wasted, I will let you buy your own meal." He said kindly, trying to just make her understand that she was in no way a waste of money. She helped him feel necessary to life again, and made him happy.

She was relieved that he had given in and decided to let her pay for her own meal again, and even more relieved by his remark concerning her.  Flux was making her feel more important than anyone had in a long time.  A really long time.  She had had people care for her recently, of course, but Flux seemed to care for her even more and they had only just met that day.

"Deal."

"Perfect!" Flux reasoned happily, then picked up the menu. "Now then, let's find what we are gonna eat rather than debate prices." He commented with a chuckle at the end, looking at the menu sections to the cheaper food.

Kaida, unknowingly, was doing the same, her eyes peering up and down the food listed in the cheaper section of the menu.  Occasionally she would steal a glance at Flux, however, waiting for him to say what he was getting.  She wanted something similar in price--that or cheaper.  She couldn't make a big deal over the price of food and then get something more expensive than he did, now could she?

"Hmmm..." Flux groaned the slightest before speaking. "Well, I think I, for one, am going to get this seafood sampler." He said. The price was decent. Not expensive, nor cheap. It came with a multitude of different types of seafood, thus the name, 'Sampler'. After this, Flux looked up to see Kaida in the eyes. "What are you thinking about getting?" He asked still with a smile.

'A multitude of different types of seafood...' she thought, considering it for a good half a minute or so before blinking back to reality and looking up at the wolf.  "Actually, Flux...do you think you'll eat it all?"

Flux happily smiled on the inside, not wanting to show it on the outside. "Actually, I am not too hungry, so probably no." He started with a shrug, then focused on Kaida. "Would you like to split it?" He asked with a grin and gleam still in his eyes.

The Alaskan Klee Kai's eyes lit up further as she nodded, her smile once again warm and sincere.  Closing the menu again and setting it aside, she said, "I'd love to.  And you and I can split -this- cost, mm'kay?"

Flux chuckled to this, then nodded. "Sure thing." He said peacefully, happy that she seemed a bit calmer, and happier about this idea. He set his menu down on hers, and waited for the man.

And that man soon came with their drinks. He set the hot chocolate next to Kadia, and the water to Flux. "Alright, are we ready to order something?" The waiter asked, pulling out the paper and pen for the order.

Flux nodded. "Yeah, just one Seafood Sampler, and that should do it for us both." He asked politely.

The waiter nodded. "Sure thing. Will be back when the food is prepared and ready." He replied to the two happily, and then walked over to the side to help other customers.

Picking up her mug of hot chocolate, gently blowing across the top, the creamy liquid silently steaming, Kaida looked up to the wolf with a happy gleam in her eyes.  "Thanks again."  Almost completely closing her eyes, she blew across her drink once more before lifting the mug to her lips and slowly tipping it back, loving the feeling as it filled her with its warmth.

Flux smiled, happy to see her sharing the same enjoyment. He took a sip from his water, and set it down. He felt this would be a good way to learn more about her. "So, Kaida. You must have some way of paying for things. Where do you work?" he asked, not sure really of another topic to really bring up.

"I'm a waitress, actually," Kaida began once she had set her mug down, though she still kept a loose grip on it.  "Not at a fancy restaurant like this, but...you know, it's a restaurant, they still need waitresses."

Flux's eyes widened the slightest. "Really?! That sounds pretty cool." He stated. He took another sip as he thought.

...I really do need a job... And it would be fun with her... But I won't ask that... It would look like I am trying to siphon a job. He thought silently as he lowered the glass. He did need to get a job, and believed he would enjoy it, but was now himself worrying about asking that.

"Oh, well..."  Kaida lifted her mug again to take another sip just so she wouldn't have to respond, but she decided against it.  Setting her mug down again, the Klee Kai said, "It's not all that great.  That's why I'm actually still working to be a cop.  But enough of me.  What do you do?"

Flux slightly blushed at this, and couldn't think of a fake profession at the time, so he just came out with the truth. "Well, actually, I am unemployed since I moved out here recently." He said with a sheepish grin, his ears flattening as well.

Kaida's ears perked up a little bit at the news.  "Really?"

'He's unemployed and -still- insisting on paying for everything...'

"Well...what are you interested in doing?" she asked, hoping she could help him find an available job.
