The Cornerian Complex

Chis looked over at the young girl eating about two bar stools away. She reminded him of how young he once was and not ready for the worlds or worlds out there and the challenges to come. He felt his age and time slipping by. He also noticed something else, the fact she looked tired like she had been running. From what he did not know and offered a word of encouragement.

Chisteran Agathol: By the way you're eating, you look like you're in a hurry. Do yourself a favor and don't give it away.

Star looked to him and squinted, her eyes scanning him for any sort of suspicion that would endanger her and her child. She then assumed that he was just a drunk whom looked like those she was hiding from and breathed a sigh of relief.

"Im not in a hurry......im just hiding myself from people who want my head on a silver platter".

Chisteran: Believe me, I know the feeling. I've been in the service for almost 20 years. Two wars, combat, lost an arm, but none of that compared to the price the Zonessian Cartel put on my head. After hitting several of their illegal shipments, they must have gotten tired of the 3rd Blue Banner Fleet's persistence and found out I commanded Task Force Delta. After the Lylat War the Cartel dropped off the radar, presumably wiped out by the Vemonian Armada. Even so I find myself looking over my shoulder from time to time. But you don't want a history lesson, do you?

"Truth be told i dont even know who you are" Chayrlin casually says, leaning in to place herself within listening range of Star and Christeran. "Much less could i even begin to wonder why you are offering an entire backstory to a group of strangers."

Chayrlin stands up proper and motions to the men at the bar entrance. The door is held open as a stream of men filter into the bar and then into the kitchen proper.

"I have a more different situation. You see, I've been a convict since childhood, but for a very good reason. As a kid, I was a lab rat who was sold to an institution where they did testing on kids to make a child army for the "Military" as they put it, but really, it was more for selfish reasons. I am one of those kids, but I escaped after an experiment went wrong. Unconsciously, I kind of....sorta killed about 15 people in a blood rage and then proceeded to steal from places that had food if necessary". Star's ears bent down, clearly ashamed.

"The only reason Corneria's Navy let me join was because I was considered an "A" grade, living, breathing, weapon".

Wolf and the others walk up to the new conversation, hearing the last part of Star's sentence. Wolf stands a bit away from Star and says, " I hate to barge in on this, but it isn't about what you did in the past, Star, it's about what you do now... I don't know anything about the platoon your in, but seeing that you survived everything so far, even with a pup, is pretty amazing."

Thomas adds, "Yeah. Everyone does stuff that they regret."

Kimari nods to both responses.

Kage sighed, listening to the conversation going on.  He was a good listener, yet didn't always open his mouth.  He turned to Victoria, deciding this would be the time he opened his mouth.  "Lots of criminals in the bar today, huh?" He asked.  "Remind me, why don't we turn them in anymore?"

Victoria set the large piece of furniture down as the man dragging it into the backroom thanked his boss. Listening to Kage as she sits back down, she looks at him with confusion. "Wait, criminals in the bar? When did this happen?"

"I dunno, something about murder.  My hearing's not THAT good." Kage said.  "What do you propose we do?"

"Not like we can do anything. Remember last time? I had to put Gracia into counseling and there is no fuckin way im going to risk having to go through that again." Victoria says in a fluid motion, dipping her head to avoid a rafter one of her men helped Chayrlin carry into the back room.

"Plus the management of the complex will boot my ass out of here if i cause more trouble."

Twin raccoons walk into the bar and sit down at the counter. The one with the cane looks through the menu while the other one looks at the surroundings. The one with the cane looks up from the menu. "Hey Mr. bartender, I gotta question!"

(Making a post with a new char - see the attached images in the character post for an accurate image of his ship:   )

After Drake and Faasnu paid their bar bill, they left the complex, headed for Faasnu's ship to leave Corneria. It left without incident, where something else happened. A TDIG Rift opened up in orbit, and a small vessel, only 300 meters, exited. It's wings were up in cruise configuration, with the wingtip-mounted Kadgeron Pulse Disruptors dipping diagonally down. The ship was colored in a mix of green, red, and gray, and looked vaguely akin to the ages-old Klingon Bird-of-Prey. Shortly after the rift closed, Corneria Air Traffic Control got a message:

"Corneria Air Traffic Control, this is the Starship Dragon requesting permission to land, over."

"Starship Dragon, this is Air Traffic Control, please transmit ship specs - we'll need to know what ship you're flying before we point you to a landing bay. Over."

"Transmitting now - but I can tell you that this ship's too big to land in any typical landing bay. I'll need to land in or near the outskirts. Over."

There was a pause before Traffic Control responded, "Roger, Dragon, you are cleared for landing. Approach when ready, but watch the skies - we have a 30-knot crosswind blowing and the skies are busy."

"Affirmative, Traffic Control - Starship Dragon is on approach. Over and out."

Then, the Bird-of-Prey descended the atmosphere, flying over the Cornerian Complex before stopping some distance away. It's wings lifted up, and the ship landed, and then, silence. Nothing happened, and the day went on as usual until a lone figure in a brown cloak stepped into the complex. He was dressed in plain clothes, apart from the gauntlets he wore, but otherwise seemed unarmed and unarmored. The figure suffered through the security screenings, and wandered into the complex. Once he was clear of the security personnel, he proceeded to wander around. He stopped in the bar Star was in, and paused. He looked to her, his bronze dragon eyes seemingly scanning Star, then huffed to himself and wandered into the bar. He sat three bar stools away from her, and asked with a raspy voice indicitive of severe thirst, "Bartender... do you have any Soda, like Coke or Pepsi?"

"You are in luck" Chayrlin smoothly says, popping out from under the bar and in front of kage. "We have Coke. Would you like fountain or can?"

Kage turned away from Victoria, "Right, the fountain has the real sugar.  The cans were canned here on Corneria, so it's not real sugar, some synthetic bullshit or something." He chimed in.  Turning his attention then to the raccoon, "Yeah?  Bathroom's the door next to the back wall on the right."

"Fountain, please," the figure requested. He half-sighed, half-shivered as he rubbed his eyes waiting for his drink. His face bore a look of exhaustion, and he then activated the computer in his gauntlet, scrolling through the features. "Is it cold in here, or is it just me?" he mumbled.

"Well, depending on how you cook that'll be good to know, hun." The raccoon quips back. "You serve shrimp cocktails here? Also, what do you recommend for someone with jittery nerves?"

Her twin shoots her a dirty look but then looks out the window.

"I've opened a couple of windows in the back, so there is a draft." Chayrlin agrees, whipping out the fountain gun with a florish and filling up a glass with carbonated Sugar. "Got cash?" She asks as she slides it to the new arrival. "And got a name to go with it."

The cloaked figure slapped his money on the counter and answered, "Name's Drakona... Viktor Drakona, captain of the starship Dragon. I don't know if anyone here saw me coming in - I landed in the outskirts."

"We got shrimp cocktail.  What size you want?" He asked.  Upon leaning closer, he put his hand to the side of his mouth and said "I'd go large, the Bureau of Alcohol and Restaurants requires me to rip you off if you get a small."

"I've been shopping for a while, i haven't seen noone leave or enter." Chayrlin says, quick to deposit the money in the tip jar. "Want anything else? We recently redid the menu so ask if we got something and ill see if i cant make it."

"Thank you," Viktor said, "But I'm just very thirsty." He paused to sip his drink, then continued scrolling through the data on the miniature holographic display generated by his gauntlet.

"Fine. Make it a large. I got some cash to spend anyway. A large shrimp cocktail and a Gin and Tonic. Anything for you, Sis?"

"A Gin and Tonic for me as well." her twin says as she returns her gaze to within the bar.

"Jesus" Chayrlin says. "Over two million combinations of drink and she orders a gin and Tonic. Its like i went to 'tending school for nothing" She tsks.

"Got it.  I'll handle this, Chayrlin" Kage said, getting the drinks first.  He put two glasses down on the table first, one with gin, the other with tonic, and followed suit with the other order.  He then went into the back, and came out two minutes later with a goblet.  Said goblet looked like the cheap kind of glass one would buy at a dollar store or cheap Chinese shop, you know, the ones with the fake swords and cheap plastic airsoft guns.  Inside the glass was cocktail sauce, and lining the edges were shrimps.  There had to be at least 24 shrimps around it.  "And the shrimp cocktail." Kage said, "Actually, you wouldn't believe it, but I learned how to make this from calling support for Vector Quantum Technologies." The bartender reminisced with a laugh.

Viktor continued to sip on his drink, scrolling through the data on his screen when he paused at one line in particular. He frowned and inclined his head, apparently confused. "Clara, you know anything about a radiation leak in engineering?" he asked.

"Don't worry about it," his AI answered. "I sent a maintenance crew to take care of it. I should be getting a report on it in about... five minutes."
