Sabre
What's your opinion on army men? To me, they tend to come in 2 flavours.1- Nicest, best guys you can ever hope to meet, usually with a great sence of hunour.Unfortunatly, most of them tend to come in flavour 22- Arrigant arse holes who woo the ladies with the uniform and won't shut up about how brave they are despite being wimps, talk out of there arse and pretend they are worthy of special praise as if they are not working some goverment job that anyone with a pair of working legs can get into.If you can't tell, I'm not a fan of most army men.On a related note, I hate it when people morn and go on and on when a guy gets killed as if it wasn't expected. And yet, despite this, people act as if army guys are the ultimate form of human that can do no wrong. Guest Julius Quasar
I hate incompetent and out of touch Military Officers. They range from jackasses who sit in the Green Zones and sip fine drinks, while the enlisted men get killed, and these officers micromanage, undermine, and second guess as well as unfairly punish our enlisted field soldiers for simply shooting back at armed combatants. I hate morons like General McCrystal, and I hate "Empty Suit" officers, as well as "90-Day-Wonder" CO's and cluster-f*ck officers.I also hate the enlisted morons who "drop the grenade and throw the pin".*EDIT* Not all our troops are like that, but for those that are, they put the rest of our troops in danger. Robert Monroe
Sabre I love how your entire world is like living in a movie made of every societal cliche possibleMost soldiers are just dudes doing a job. You can't no more put them into a box as you can anyone else. The end.

Sadly, there are some that are, but fortunately not all of them are. And congress is worse when it comes to undermining, micromanaging and second guessing our troops. Congress should get no say in how the military operates. That's why we haven't won a single war since World War 2.

Kid_Cortet
I know MANY military guys...(and chicks for that matter) and all of them are really cool. They are just average Joes around here, hoping to have a good time when they are on leave.
DZComposer
Mq-XaBmRsg8I've met ex-military guys who were cool, and I've met ex-military guys who are assholes. The guys who are cool are people who went in for economic reason, IMO, and the assholes when in because they just wanted to blow some shit up. They were probably assholes before they went in, and it turned them into bigger assholes once they actually got to blow some shit up.
Sabre
Right, blowing stuff up, maybe, but I think alot of people do it for power reasons.

Also, mch like police, it attract only certain kinds of people. This topic? I'm getting a lot of 70s and 80s Vietnam film vibes, and some Starship Troopers. Your opinions on people in general feel like they were ripped out of a collection of stock characters. And no, you can't put them in a box. One man's experience is different from anothers. If one contradicts the other, then what determines whose "box" is right? There is no right box, and therefore it is wrong to even think with them in the first place, because your experiences are limited to your own scope, and are not reflective of the societal group as a whole. But I digress.Mq-XaBmRsg8I've met ex-military guys who were cool, and I've met ex-military guys who are assholes. Asper Sarnoff
Most people I've meet so far in service I'd say have been almost exclusively nice guys, and ladies. Sure, some of them can be awfully strict, but I've yet to meet proper assholes. I have on the other hand, these last days, meet some of the coolest and nicest guys there is. I believe it depends a lot on what kind of role they play in the large jigsaw puzzle of cogwheels that is the military. I've lately been mostly together with the men handling some of the biggest and baddest vehicles in the country, and that seems to make people a heck of a lot more laidback, and probably confident, than for example the average infantery sergant. Star Fox Runner
My cousin James was once a marine, he's a hardass and you don't want to piss him off, but he's one of the of the nicest guys you'll meet, a devoted husband, and a loving father. I believe he is one of the truly goodhearted soldiers.Yet I do know there are idiots in uniform, but every group will have it's bad eggs, EVERY group, that's fact.
