OK, I've been wanting to do this for some time. Ever since I noticed more members here are members of the Armed Services or Uniformed Services, or support for the military.

If you are a member of a Military, or Support Element for the Military, you can come right out in here. Post your Rank, Situation, Accomplishments, Experiences, Unit, Branch, etc.

Site members are more than welcomed to share your appreciation and your thoughts about joining and ask for what's needed to join and what branch may be recommended for you. If we (the Service Members) don't fully know, we will point you in the right direction or informant/Military Career Planner (also know as a recruiter).

This thread is not for recruiting purposes!!!

Everyone is entitled to their opinion about the military! If you (as a member of the Armed Services) is insulted in any way, PLEASE DO NOT PURSUE! PLEASE, IGNORE OR BREAK ENGAGEMENT! REMEMBER: AS A MEMBER OF THE ARMED FORCES, YOU HAVE (OR SHOULD HAVE) THE DICIPLINE TO DO WHAT'S RIGHT AND HAVE "THICK SKIN" AND JUST WALK AWAY! In other words... DO NOT FEED THE TROLLS!!!

I'm an E-3, soon to be E-4 and hopefully E-5, in the United States Army. My MOS is 19D, Cavalry Scout. Currently in Fort Knox, Kentucky and soon to be in Fort Wainwright, Alaska. I operate the Bradley Fighting Vehicles and the new Recon Platform: The Striker.

I started my service in 2006 in the United States Marine Corps. I was an 0811, Field Artillery Cannoneer, for 3 and 1/2 years and was stationed at Camp Pendleton, CA. I was deployed 2 times: once to the Middle East and a year later to East Asia as part of the 11th and 31st Marine Expeditionary Units. I've set foot on over 10 countries around the world.

I changed Branches due to the over pop of the Corps and due to an injury and closed MOS's. I was not willing to take Admin as an MOS!!!

I've had extensive training in ranged combat, hand-to-hand, urban warfare, jungle warfare, guerrilla warfare, counter terrorism, non-lethal/crowd control/riot control, foreign weaponry, light, medium and heavy crew serve/machine gun training, scouting/recon, and demolitions and still continuing training on these fields and new ones. Training is continuous.

I currently have 6 medals/ribbons for National Defense, Global War on Terrorism, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary, Humanitarian Missions, Sea Service Deployments, and Good Conduct. Soon to have more though.

I tried to get into the military, but the Military Shrink said I was a liability, and that I was "a potential war criminal".  He didn't like the readout of my psychological profile, and he convinced every sergeant at that recruitment post not to conscript me. Paranoid bastards.  I had tried to sign up for the Army in 2001, and that moron [Former] President Clinton had passed a bunch of new regulations that keep "people like me" out of our military.  Ingrates.  I tried for the Marines in 2004, and they still turned me down because that lousy Army shrink squealed on me to them.  I'm blacklisted from ANY military service. 

I wanted to fight in Afghanistan, or Iraq, and bring either Osama Bin Laden's decapitated head or Saddam Hussein's decapitated head back to America in a styro-foam cooler, and to bring home some Taliban skulls as souvenirs.  My friends are off fighting and dying in those countries, and I'm just sitting here at home, useless and unable to help them or any more of our soldiers, whether I know them or not.  It pisses me the hell off.

I'm considering one day creating and commanding my own military, and then creating my own nation, and splitting off from this new Plutocracy our nation has festered into.

Thanks, though it wasn't just the recruiter guy, President Clinton had, along with congress, passed a million stupid new laws requiring higher standards for recruitment, and messed up definitions for what qualified as "a psychopath", rendering many people ineligible for service.

So... They passed laws that didn't work, it seems.

The military is doing what the heck they want in the Middle East. So, okay, you make laws that don't work because your guys are outside your country. So... Then why bother in making 'em?

'Cause Congress is fulla draft dodgers who have too much control over our military.  Just like ancient Rome before its collapse.

Can't argue. Actually, the best leaders of Rome came from the military [Caesar]. So it kinda makes sense that if they tried to play civilian they would fall.
