So ... 2012.

What do you think is going to happen? No no, I don't mean end of the world scenario I mean how the people are going to react to the whole 2012 controversy since it's being hyped up like crazy?

Will it be like in your opinion like the Y2K Crisis just waited, prayed, and got food ready before we prepared for the oncoming dark ages? Or do you think some of the far out crazy new age people who are gathering around this date will do a Heaven's Gate or any other cult like that, with people killing themselves, and others, en masse?

I ask, you decide. Let us discuss!

There are always going to be morons that overreact to these kinds of things, although I doubt 2012 will generate as much hysteria as Y2K.  I mean, seriously, how many times have people said the world will end?  It's almost getting to the point where it sounds like a bad joke.

This

Also Y2k was a real problem that was slightly overhyped, and averted due to to that overhype. 2012 is just new age crap.

Guest Julius Quasar

a game show fanfare will sound, and confetti will drop from the sky, along with a banner made by God saying "Congratulations, it's 12/21/2012!  What?  You were expecting the end of the world!?".

Probably gonna be the same crap, business as usual.  :x

But maybe Rush will play a special song for us.

There will be an alignment of all the Solar System planets, but other than that....nothing else probably. :P

Nothing will happen, just like the last over 9000 times groups of people have predicted the end of the world or some catastrophic event to doom all of us.

I can't guess what crazy people will do (cults..), but most people who bought into the 2012 crap will end up feeling rather gullible and stupid, just like after Y2k. There will also be a spike in sales of canned goods and bottled water in December of 2011.

I would hope these people have to heart to take them to a food bank so some good can come out of that stupidity.

I agree....they are hyping it up like Y2K....it is ridicules....I like how some of the comics in the funnies are treating it.....

"Why you only make it go up to the year 2012?"

"Cause I want to see how many people will freak out.."

and many other spoofs about it....honestly...i never heard of the 2012 crisis until that movie came out -_-;;

There will be explosions.

There will be death.

There will be worldwide chaos.

There will another world war.

There will be computer chips planted into everyone's hands and forehead.

There will be a one world currency.

There will be a one world bank.

There will be a one world government.

There will be a one world EVERYTHING.

There will be a new world order.

There will be- *punches the Antichrist*

...get away from my computer. -_-'

Hows that anarchy?

He said antichrist, not anarchist. :P

I personally don't believe in 2012. I've lived through several other supposed "apocalypses" and I don't see how this one is any different. Maybe the Mayans got bored. Or maybe they foresaw the end of their own civilization and said "oh screw this."

To be fair though, those were at least legitimate reasons for panic, and when the year 2000 hit there WERE glitches and things did happen that compromised people's lives (ex. at a hospital in China for one).  To completely dismiss the whole Y2K thing as just a scam simply isn't right because without the fixing of computers worldwide the situation WOULD have been considerably worse.
