Thu'um
If you're doing competitive gaming the last way you would want to play would be over wireless. And no, I have an RJ-45 cable hooked up to my computer right from the modem. The problem I'm 99% sure is outside at a telecommunications box and a technician will have to took at it. Reason I'm so sure is because I had the exact same issues at my old place and the technician back then found that a couple of wires were cut or something due to construction (and there's more construction about my new street now than before) idk, look at me, i play wirless and i have the fastest computer on the block no lag
"User"
The first round my gum surgery was last Wednesday, it went better than I expected but I need to be careful concerning what I eat for the next week or so. The second phase...I'm not sure when it will be yet. In other news I still haven't completely fixed the issue concerning my intermittent access. It's been a pain for some time now and it's most noticeable when I play games like TF2 (as some of you who play on the SF-O will already know). When I plug my modem directly into my computer I have no issues whatsoever so it's obviously the router. Apparently from countless tech support calls I have made to my ISP and my router provider and based on ISP speed tests the issue is that I need a Gigabit router to fully utilize my Internet package, as the one's I've been using in the past slow down my speed and give me intermittent drop outs. The router I got last night I didn't realize wasn't Gigabit until it was too late D: Tomorrow I will return it and get a Gigabit router. Sadly, most routers in general just...aren't that great in general judging from reviews that I did of all sorts of models. It's been a royal pain in the ass so part and I hope that tomorrow by game night the router I have by then would work fine. Going direct and using no router whatsoever is not an option for an extended period of time. In three weeks I'm heading to Michigan for a 2 man Laser Quest tournament. Surprisingly for a tournament in this location there is a very high amount of talent attending, much more than I originally realized. I have 6 people who want a ride down with me but I only have space in my vehicle for 5 people total. I already have three other people reserved and the last spot goes to whoever is on this other guy's (who is coming down with me) team. This is some mis-communication about this but it will be resolved quickly.
Fluxy
Wow, I am sorry to hear you have a lot of stress going on with Dental, Internet-al, and well, the idea of there being lots of strong competition! [Not that I think it stopped you before though] I hope once all the three things are fully taken care of, you will have a small stress break! "User"
I am alive! Less painful than I thought. However I am still having internet problems. This should not stop me from competitive play though as I can simply use a direct connection from the modem to my PC as I have no problems when that happens

"User"
I'll be working 11-12 hour days Friday and Saturday (as well as the past Thursday and Friday) because my company messed up on something major and now we have to work massive overtime. I think I'll buy a laptop when it's all said and done. This is why I've been a bit out of the loop recently with regards to SF-O.

"User"
A few months ago I "took down" some LQ videos from my YouTube because apparently they weren't allowed according to my local LQ manager. Well, three months after I did so I got a phone call from the head of marketing for Versent Corp, Jeff Morris. He was very open, friendly, and was all WTF when I told him how I was treated by local management, because apparently corporate has known about me for a while now and from a marketing perspective looked at me in quite a positive matter. He gave me his phone number and email address and will be reviewing the YouTube links I send him but there shouldn't be any problems with them. I made the videos unlisted and didn't actually remove them. Finding out that he thought highly of me for a couple of years now when I showed him that various teaser trailers that a film crew from L.A. did in Las Vegas 2009 of our Nationals I've pretty much made a new friend in the process, a high-ranking member in Versent's brass. This could potentially be very useful if it ever comes to future conflicts and also as a source of inside information. I've always known that the executives frequently confine information in non-employees (ex. competitive players) that they can trust and I hope to build on this new friendship as a result. Of course, professionalism is the most important part here and I know to deal with Head Office individuals. In other news I'm working Saturday. :/
"User"
I'll be heading up to Ottawa for the weekend with a female laser tag related friend to see my best friend. I might stay a couple of extra days so I might not be back until Tuesday or even Wednesday at the latest. I'll be bringing my computer so I should be online during most of this time. "User"
So I am back from my trip, it cost me more than I thought it would. Damn gas prices. So I look at my credit card statement online and there's a charge of $112.98 that occurred on Halloween from a Future Shop location in Mississauga. It looks like a duplicate charge from the in home support I received earlier in the month. It's from the same location as well so I'm going to give them a call tomorrow so they can remove it. Looks like another trip to Michigan is warranted in January for a solo LQ tournament (which may be moved to February due to a potential conflict with the Vegas 5 man this January. Much like furry conventions organizers are careful not to cause drama by scheduling tournaments too close together (even though drama usually happens at fur cons anyway, there is no avoiding it.)
"User"
I've had a great personal transformation in my life this morning and it's reflected in my profile. The morning was quite emotional, but it was a good type of emotion and I really hope to build on it going forward. If anyone wants to know more details just send me a Steam PM or something. In other news, my car battery has kind of died for the very first time. I had another vehicle jump start it but it will need to be looked at nonetheless. I also need to get new snow tires and get my brakes fixed as well. I'll probably do that tomorrow.
"User"
So my car was in worse shape than I originally thought. I got all new snow tires, as originally planned. However the brakes pretty much had to be replaced, both front and rear, among other things. The total cost after taxes was around $1,500. Don't think I'll be going to the Mann Store anytime soon. :(
mjakob42
Cars are why I wish everything was close so we could ride our bikes everywhere. But don't worry 'bout it, man - everything'll be fine as time progresses. At least your car's fixed
"User"
So as some of you already know, a couple of weeks ago I said goodbye to the furry fandom. It's been a stranglehold on my life for quite some time now and it's been conflicting with the new way I want to present my life. Simply put, the fandom could not continue to coincide with the direction that my life is currently headed. I feel like a huge burden has been lifted all my shoulders and life has never been better. This is also the reason why I've revamped all my profiles (SF-O, Steam, etc) to eliminate traces of my old lifestyle. I thought it was something I could never be rid of - it was like a curse of sorts in some ways since 2004 and it wasn't something I could get out of by myself. Needless to say things have been going considerably better since however it hasn't been entirely positive. Sadly I've had to bring it off with a couple furries since then for my own reasons. I remain on excellent terms with almost all of my furry friends although I'm not sure how long that may last. In other news, Christmas is coming! I have not started my shopping yet and there may be something in it for the regular TF2 players from SF-O. Stay tuned...

"User"
Going back to school February 21st full time. Probably going to Detroit the February 11th weekend for a laser tag tournament (I'm really rusty in the meantime). Not sure when I'll be quitting my job, I want to have two or maybe three weeks off as a vacation of sorts before I go back to school.

"User"
Heading to Detroit for a tournament the Feb 10th weekend, apparently other Toronto players will be coming down as well so I guess we are now officially into the "getting back into this game after taking 6 months off" mentality. I am taking at least two other people down, someone will probably bug me to take a couple of more. Finishing work on February 3rd, that will give me two and a half weeks of vacation and prepartion for the start of classes.

"User"
So I'm thinking my computer related problems don't have anything to do with the PSU as the new one I got has not solved the problem. Based on what I know about computer hardware it's either one of two problems. 1. Motherboard is shot. 2. The two small wires that connect from the power switch to the jumpers on the side of the motherboard are defective. The motherboard is getting power via the LED light son them, I have brought in the computer to a repair shop (first time I've done this in a LONG time, usually I just solve the problems myself) but right now I have no time to spend on this issue myself :/
"User"
So I got my computer back and the news isn't good. As I suspected yet didn't have enough time to fully diagnose the motherboard is fried as well as my old PSU. This means I will have to get a new motherboard (which was 4 years old anyways) and of course a new PSU since I'll be returning the one I have which was a blatant rip off at Best Buy. I will return it just before I go to the sold out Toronto Blue Jays home opener Monday evening. Needless to say this will probably mean no more TF2 in the interim for me unless I'm able to use another computer but since the one I was using yesterday had a pretty bad frame rate, thus playing pretty bad, and the fact that it's not my computer it's unlikely I'll be playing again until I get a new motherboard, a new case, and a new PSU.
