Life of a College kid and Fox's Tech Stuff

Ok I'm back. bet ya. I am in college right now, and pretty much its like life on my own. In a way.

Lets see: My major is Information Security and Forensics. In the future I hope to either work in the private sector, or possible even the NSA, FBI, CIA, or DoD helping protect the US from cyber-warfare.

My schedule for this quarter is: College Algebra, Intro to Programming, Writing Seminar, Cyber Self Defense.

There will be more in the future, once I get around to doing so

I'm against college, personally.  After seeing so many college grads and MBA's digging through the trash, and college or high school dropouts making $65,000+ per year, or making six figures, or even becoming billionaires, "I'd rather be learning than earning."  Our plutocratic nation has rendered the college diploma null and void.  Today it's all about "connections", and "Who you know.".

Wake up, shower, brush teeth.

Get on computer SF-0, Facebook, news

Class

While in class check SF-O, or just ignore the lectures, cuz I really alreayd know the stuff, and get ahead on homework.

Back to dorm, more SF-O, video games, homework.

Back to class, repeat until dinner.

SF-O and steam most of the time.....(unless homework)

Then RP in the Cornerian Super-complex until bed. - which tends to be to 2AM my time.

Other then that College is pretty cool. dorm life is fun, I am on a floor where we are all computer guys, gals. (co-ed floor) We all get along, met other Starfox Fans, but not like us here on SF-O.

Just ordered my new phone today, and it should be in within 2 weeks. It got back ordered >.<

Anyways, I am heading off to my programming class right now, so I will talk to you all later.

Awesome its Friday. so today I had an Algebra quiz (SUCKS!!!) Did pretty well, but I just find Algebra to be overdone, and for someone of my Major it just does not work out.

So anyways. I have no more classes today. But yet I still have 1 essay to write, 300 pages to read in one book, and a discussion that I have to answer online about another book. I also have to finish a Mid-term online today.

I am going to get a few hours sleep, as I stayed up for a while watching season 1 of Star Trek Voyager.

Allrighty, So today is a Saturday, thank you so much!!! I enjoy saturdays much more then the weekday. A little bit of a break, and time off from everything.

I slept in today, but I have a little work to do, so what I am doing right now is this. I have multiple tabs open on Facebook, Skype and SF-O open. At the same time I am writing some stuff, I am watching Star Trek Voyager.

Oh How I have missed that show. Finished Season 1 yesterday, and watching season 2 today.

So yesterday I was at OfficeMax with a friend and we decided to order some Chipotle Burritos. He had an App on his IPhone that would allow you to order online before you got there. So I had me an Idea. At the end of you order you had to put down a name, and some special instructions. So for you guys. I put in my name as Fox. (high school nickname) and put the special instructions as "Do a Barrel Roll."

After a few mins we drove to the Chipotle. I had my super awesome aviators on Photo here. As soon as we walked in. I was smiling and I heard the girl at the counter go "There's fox." I began to laugh a little and she responded. "You found the right people" I smiled a bit.

After my friend and I ate. I made a decision that from now on whenever I go to that place. That is my signature move. Though when I left I looked at the staff and said "Sorry to Jet, but I'm in a hurry." They smiled and waved. I felt accomplished

Most of the time you really need the fun to cancel out all of the boring stuff that occurs when you are not having fun. Just like how it has taken me over a day and a-half just to solve one line of code that seems to be ruining my project. It is due tomorrow and I still have not solved it.

I will be talking to one of the experts on my dorm floor who has helped me before. I know if I start getting into the technicalities of my programming and all the terms we use, I might lose some of you.

On the other hand, I need fun right now, because I have 2 research papers that are due in a week, luckily I am almost done with those

I have been having fun RPing in the Complex with all of my friends here at SF-O. Emperor, Kid, Nick. The complex really has become an enjoyable RP for me!

And wow, this is the longest post I have had here

Later on tonight I will be VMwaring a second Operating system onto my beast of a computer. Though I will be needing a second monitor, but for now this will do. I will be using it for my security testing and other research. I am working on trying to integrate a voice interaction system, with one of our automated drink machines.

Another personal project I am working on interacting is Automating my dorm room. I am going to be using an Arduino board with Voiceshield.

I will hook up some mics, speakers, lights, and servos. I will be going for a star trek type interaction. I am hoping to use it for Lighting, shutting off and on lights, and closing of a door. (not opening) It will use a motor to put the door from the doorstop and allowing it to close. I will also integrate a locking mechanism for the door. I am also going to hook it up to the light switch allowing me to shut the lights on and off with a switch.

What I am hoping for is this:

ME: "Computer"

Board-play sound

Me" Lights off"

Lights off

or

ME: "Computer"

Board-play sound

Me" close door"

activates motor function to close door.

It should take me about a month to do, and If I get it done, ill post a video or something. But right now it is just an idea. What do y'all think?

Thanks dude, I ended up solving the problem, turns out it was a simple solution >.< Oh well.

So a yesterday, I received my new phone. This phone has made everything easier, i have my FB, skype, AIm and other social networking things hooked into one. One discovery that I made was that my 300 friends of Facebook were added. Also if they had phone numbers in their contacts, they were added. So uh yeah X.x

Other then that. Had a weird day today. I think watching Star Trek Voyager too much and staying up most of the time has made me delirious. I decided to take a nap today, i remember waking up during my dream in a nap. I remember looking around and that I was not back at dorm side. In fact i was in the future a few years. I remember everything from the real world in my dream. I remember say "I am not from this time," man it was just CRAZY!. Then it went to some star trek style dreaming. Then I remember talking with one of my friends, and I accidentally skype video called him, and they accepted?!

Then from their I could see everything in the room. He had like a crazy uncle, some weird decorations on the wall. It was just creepy. Then it went to me Facebook chattin with people. This has been by most far the creepiest and oddest dreams that I have ever had. This is the first time in years I have had such vivid dreams!!!

That and when I read my above posts about the Room automation like star trek the work NERD popped in my head lol.

I am proud to be one, though I like the work GEEK better :D

Me too, it was a good percentage of my lab grade.

Anyways, During my journal/blog type thing, i have also decided to post reviews on anything Technical, whether it ranges from Software to Hardware, phones, OSs, or web-browsers. I will be reviewing and posting. To debut, I will be covering Firefox 4 beta release for both smartphones and Operating Systems.

As per my statement, here is my report.

Firefox 4 Beta.

I am a "Test pilot" for firefox, and who could resist this little guy?

As with all betas, they can be a little buggy, but I love the new feel for this Firefox. Even though that this a beta, pages load faster, and is more secure. They have even implemented a feature called Sync. Now whenever I use Firefox on my Droid, Laptop or Even my Desktop, all of my bookmarks, pages, logins, are transferred. Now you might be skeptical of this feature, but infact the sync feature uses top level security algorithms and cryptology methods to make sure that your passwords and other information is safe.

I have been using this for a while, and I see much promise in this. It has its bugs such as Youtube videos playing weirdly, but that is because Adobe does not fully support Firefox 4. I find all the features in Firefox 4 create a friendly user interface, and make it much easier to use.

Well, Its the beginning of Hell Week, or at least Hell Weeks.

In the past two weeks, I have had so many lab reports, essays, and other stuff to do. On top of that, I have been having some conflicts with myself.

Alot of stuff has been happening and makes me question myself. Maybe its just me being paranoid, or something but I dunno.

Who knows, only time will tell, but in a few weeks, i get to take a nice train ride back home. 3 1/2 hour drive to a 3 1/2 train ride.

Finally booked my train tickets home for vacation. Got some major projects done, and got a good rest, and most likely will be getting some more of a nights rest tonight.

Working on my Fanfic, and I have just been way to busy to get anything done, at least fun-time wise. anyways, i hope to have another blog post up next week about a new tech thing.

Here is some info here, I figured I share it.

I was born Jan 1992 at Salem University Hospital. A week after I was born, I was taken into foster care, due to my mother's substance abuse. Somehow she managed to get me back. I lived with her in Colorado until I was about 7 years old. That is when the h*ll in my life began. About this time, I never knew my father, and would not know him until I was 16 years old. during the 8 years of h*ll in Louisiana (abuse, torment in school, etc.) , I was in and out of the house with my mother (she kept getting kicked out, and like a lost child, i went with her each time) . After being tired of all the moving to different states and high schools, I finally decided to stay and live with my grandparents, where I currently reside, but I am now going to a college in Rochester, New York. Now Life seems to finally be going in the right direction and I owe that to my grandparents.

I have 3 brothers, and we all have different fathers...

At a young age, I had to watch and fend for myself. Many tell me I am lucky to be the type of person I am today, and I really just shrug and smile.

Before you post anything about "I'm sorry, or anything," Let me tell you something. Don't worry about me, I am fine. I have learned that when life gives you lemons, MAKE GOLD

I really don't care about my past and what happened. All that matters is that yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery. but only this moment is mine.

So uh yeah, That is about a good idea of my history. :D

Math class. I cannot wait to finish this dang class. Algebra for my security major is just BLARGH.

Next quarter though I will be taking Discrete Math for Tech, and thats all binary, hexadecimal, and its all good stuff.

Well it is about 12:30AM my time. And I am actually Heading to bed now to get up early to do a Search and Rescue Seminar tomorrow.

As a Ground Team Leader for Search and Rescue, It tends to be my duty, to share that knowledge with those who have an interest in learning such details.

So tomorrow I will be discussing Search and Rescue and its basics. I will be covering the frequencies and the steps for Search and Rescue missions and its activation.
