No, I'm not talking about the hollusinations in house, though those are cool. I'm talking about the Half Life 2 mod.

Reader of my blog here already know I'm a fan of jump scares, and upon hearing people dismiss this game on a podcast for being nothing but jump scares compelled me to try it. While I haven't played much yet, I find that game so tense.

It opens with a recreation of the first map with a character who bobs his head like he's drunk. After forgetting how you get past the first door I skipped ahead a bit to see what the gameplay itself is like and aside from a few obvious cut corners (reused zombie animations for example) it's detailed for a mod.

The setting is the old haunted hospital scenario.

I look forward to playing more, though Im thinking of narrating my first play through.

It does a sense of the Fear games to them, especially with the part involving the manquins...

It has the random shadows events, apparitions, yada yada yada, that F.E.A.R had and a small feel for the Condemned games.  I'm pretty interested in playing this game, but I can't due to my parents hogging up the big computer.

I used to have the same problem when evryone of us in this home used one old 2004 Xp. But over time me and my brother and sister were able to get our own sets, Mine the most tuned with the Hardware i got for it.

Though note the game is going to require Half-life 2 Episode 2 in order to work, and for those never saw the previos thread you can get the mod here...

Indeed. Alot of the big halusination/ghost moments are ripped straight out of fear and condemned. The maniquin scene, which I found more clever in a mapping sence rather then scary, is a copy paste from condemned.

The shadow man bit was cool, and it's not really a spoiler to say you get stalked by a long haired japanese girl ghost straight out the ring and fear.

Having finished it, I can say the ending is a cop out. There is even a moral choice in running away or killing the boss, and of course running away gets you an insta death.

The ending claims that it was all a mind screwing machine, and just like fear two turns out the ghost woman was actually saving you because she wants to kill the bad guy. So disappointing. It also leaves a plot hole you can drive a truck through.
