Sabre
Listening to a year old podcast they talked about the then new fad in america for people taking perscription ADD drugs as a learning aid. However, being dumb they took the drugs and rather then starting to study straight away, they would often wait and end up spending hours rearranging their DVD collection. Red Dwarf also had a similar thing where people were taking drugs to help them learn things and was frowned upon.We all have our opinions on recreational drugs. But what if drugs could have some kind of possitive effect? While their methods and motives are questionable, they are showing they are doing whatever it takes to aquire knowlage, even if the effectivness is in doubt. If it would ultimatly lead to smarter people is that a bad thing? Would you take drugs if it would mean you could learn things quicker, easier. Milkyway64
Personally, I wouldn't. I got this code thing going where I swore to endure life on a sober mind, so taking drugs to learn easier is just as big a no to me as taking drugs to have fun easier.Of course, this sorta falls apart when medicinal reasons come in (I -should- be refusing painkillers at the dentist because it'll make pulling a tooth easier) so I dunno. Kid_Cortet
I used to take Retaline (or however you spell it).....i eventually became a zombie...after awhile I was taking it in the morning....just to please my mom....and skipping out on it in the afternoons...my grades improved in my afternoon classes...where my mornings still were failing....thus...i stopped taking it in the mornings....and they eventually raised....Retaline = Zombie pills
Robert Monroe
As one who was once on "study pills", I will confidently say "fvck them". They are not good. Most AD(H)D problems can be overcome with discipline and practice. Using prescription drugs should only be for extreme cases, if at all.
Fire Yoshi
pffth, I actually never had a learning disability. The only time I couldn't learn well in school was because of lack of sleep from the previous night. So I started taking this stuff called "Emergen-C." It's a box full of these packets that contain some sort of vitamin C powder. You mix it with a drink, drink it, and you get this sudden burst of energy that lasts for hours. No crash either, I'm serious. lol Ah, but here's the catch...It's 25 buckaroos for a box, and it's 30$ for a combo pack. lol
"User"
Boys make up roughly 70% of all ADD/ADHD cases. However since the symptoms in boys are more prevalent and obvious (not to mention different) they are MUCH more likely (5-7 times?) to be on medication than girls.I find this sad. Really now, Ritalin and other drugs (such as Clonidine) should not be a knee-jerk reaction to a child with ADD/ADHD. Although personally I don't think they should ONLY be used in extreme cases they definitely should not constitute a "be all and end all" for patients with these cases.
