No such thing as spoilers?

I met a person online today who doesnt get the idea of spoilers, making the claim that any fiction that relies on a twist ending or a mystery is badly made. After a few tries to explain it they still didn't get it.

So, what do you think about it?

it comes from the word "spoiled" or "spoil" (rooten) so spoiler might be something about spoiling the movie.

Spoiler is something like telling people something they never seen before like um ... let's take portal(game) you were never played it before or never know how to beat the time limit then someone told you that you can do this*warning spoilers* that will be spoiling to figure out or in other word it's ruin their gaming "thingy"

OR

lets take a movie that you never watched before and you are going to watch it sooner or later and someone came to tell you that in the end they (get killed, get married, it's just a dream or some thing like that) that is also might be count as spoiler maybe that might be helpful for you and hope you understand what i mean

That person was an idiot. Spoilers exist and there's a reason people get pissed about them. End of story.
