TF2 pyro controversy

Hatsworth III

Recommended Posts

Pepole made a huge controversy around the tf2 pyro, most pepole thinks that he is a woman, some says that because looks like he has a pink (with a flower) purse/pencilcase(looks like), but no one really knows, because of his mask and the suit, and some think that he is a robot/something else, but nobody really believe much on that.

facts that he is a guy: 1- he looks like a guy, and if he was a girl certainly valve wold make him much more feminie.

facts that he is a girl: 1- that pink purse... 2- (much more chance to be the valve team's stupidity) on the blog the both reffer to pyro as ge and she.

and my theory about his nacionality: he might be mexican, like a mexican wrestler never reveals his face, after he puts on the mask, so pyro might have somethin connected to that, or he just likes that icognitous thing..

well let's see how far we go with this discussion. yes, post your theory too.

It's an "it" that Valve says is both a guy and girl here and there in order to troll. End of story.

Why its a girl of course!

i mean, how many guys (aside from gay ones) hold themselves like that in humiliation, honestly.

Does it matter?

I know the pyro is considered dumb. It might have changed since I last followed TF2 but I remember he only had one exclusive hat that didn't imply he was an idiot.

We won't officially know unless they say what they are. I personally think it's a guy considering they still have a man's voice under the gas mask.

I dunno bout y'all, but my Pyro is female. This is the skin I roll with.

*WARNING* Jiggly.

There is a lot of proof for or against the Pyro being a girl.

For being a girl: The Purse,  His attitude (Whenever they lose a match and can run, if Pyro stands still, it will put its hands on its hips like a girl would), the game refers to the Pyro as a she.  Some of what the Pyro says but gets muffled sounds like a girl's attitude.

Against: The pyro is destructive, he has an odd body build, other voices of the Pyro sound like a guy.

I'm not gonna say which is which, but I'm going to just put all those out there.

Skins like that and the fact people unironically use them (hehehe, boobies!) is what makes me so mad at the TF2 fandom. The only thing worse are the damn animu remodels.

Sweet mother of mercy, guys, its a spytech themed Cold War era game, where men are real men (like Marlon Brando and Steve McQueen), and the sexy women stayed home in the kitchen (like Scout's Mom). With hats. And a decidedly alternative 1800s world history.

But really, all of the characters designs, goofy as they are, cartoony as they are, are -practical- looking. Heavy has a huge boolitproof vest, Demoman has a bombsuit, Engineer has protective overalls, and the Pyro, well, it has a large protective asbestos suit.

Also.

>enter topic expecting discussion about Pyro's nerfing

>instead its the damn HURR BOY OR GIRL debate

Personally, I find this kind of topic much more interesting the "Hurr! Nurf Flash!" type bollocks as that stuff is always one sided and usually ignores practical solutions to the problem. Balence is hard to do. In Supreme Commander, upon learning a certain tank was OP against one other faction, rather then nerfing or boosting, they added a special gunship to deal with the problem.

Likewise, people kept exploiting the resource fabrication, so in the add on they changed how it worked. Without that crutch to lean on the same people moaning about OP were the worst exploiters of it. As the saying goes "Stone is OP, Paper is perfect" says Scissors.

The thing with the Pyro is it was never really OP, it was just too "easy" to score points by W+M1ing. Valve has added new dimensions to the character (airblast is a great addition to the game), but lately they've been putting less and less emphasis on the burning part of the Pyro, having reduced burn damage as a whole, having shown that the Degreaser is effectively a straight upgrade from the Flamethrower despite its even less afterburn damage, and the Homewrecker being able to crush sappers. There is nothing wrong with utility, and the Pyro has a lot of it, but Pyro should still shoot fire and burn everyone, dammit.

WM1ing is a stupid argument I think. You could say that heavy is ADM1 or the medi is. There is the joke that sniper classes in games are just point and click, but people dont try and add loads of crap to it.

The difference is a medic tries to stay alive, a heavy needs to keep awareness on who is gunning him, who is backing him up, his health, his medic's health etc, a sniper must aim, and so on. Bad pyros run forward spewing flames in a suicide mission. A good pyro runs forward where no one see him, does damage and retreats after maybe axtinguishing someone, then air blasting burning team mates as he arrives on the back lines. Strategy is what makes the W+M1 argument stand, as while that technically is what almost every pyro does, not every pyro does it right.

I saw a video once where a guy removed every key but W on a keyboard and used a 1 button mac mouse to play pyro.

I've seen that too.

The thing is getting points =/= playing well. Any class can be cheap for points. That Pyro video involved him dying a great multitude of times just to get kills.
