sjrathbun812
This is my very first youtube vid. My brother filmed it, tell me whatchya think. I learned the right hand from a tutorial, the left hand I learned completely by myself. I know it's not quite right but I think it sounds good enough so that it doesn't sound weird....Right?http://www.youtube.com/user/WolfFang129Me and my brother share profiles. Btw, I haven't had any piano lessons.....(For certain reasons, I can't get any.) SOOOO. I've just been teaching myself and learning from tutorials and such. I can't read music, either...

StarFoxfan-FUR_ever
Fantastic! Simply fantastic! You just brought back so many memories. I still find it so amazing how much effort was put into a lot of old video game music back then. For some reason, I tend to think that the bar has been lowered. Not that many peices of video game music are as memorable or awe aspiring nowdays as back then.
sjrathbun812
This song has a very soothing effect on me I guess....Kinda depressing. That's why I wanted to play it on the piano.

StarFoxfan-FUR_ever
This song has a very soothing effect on me I guess....Kinda depressing. That's why I wanted to play it on the piano. What? Soothing effects aren't depressing. If anything, it relaxes the mind and calms nerves/stress etc.
sjrathbun812
Oh I don't know, it's soothing and yet depressing....I guess....It's hard for me to explain. It will sooth my nerves and kinda depress me too. Or wait....Actually it's not depressing at all. It's just soothing. A nice song to go to sleep to you know?

Not that many peices of video game music are as memorable or awe aspiring nowdays as back then. That's mainly Nostalgia speaking for you. This piece (as well as this performance) is good, but it was also good by back then's standards too. Plenty of newer games have awesome soundtracks, including Gears of War, Halo (lolKursed beat meh), Super Mario Galaxy, the list goes on.My personal favorite is the Touhou project, an indie series made by a drunk Japanese composer who does a little game programming on the side. Almost every piece that guy makes is so good it becomes it's own meme.
StarFoxfan-FUR_ever
That's not necessarily what I was reffering to. I will agree that there is still a large gap between the best peices of music and everything else. To be honest, the only reason I never really liked the Halo series music was because a lot of it was exactly the same. Either it was lots of heavy drums to build tension (for an exciting part with lots of chaos) or it stays very quiet for when you should expect a "surprise explosion" or something like that. The point I am trying to make is that there is a lack of variety. Fast-paced (chaos) or slow-to-nonexistant (building tension)
Milkyway64
That still says little for the other games, like Galaxy and Shadow of the Collosus. I do somewhat agree, though, Halo's music largely goes unnoticed while you play.

StarFoxfan-FUR_ever
still a good job. it is quiet close.Agreed. Not only that, but you have to realize that they must have used at least 2-3 other instruments to create the original work...that and a few computer programs to fix it up. Soothing pretty music is often sad, or a mixture of sad-happy.It's weird but true. Plus it's sentimental probably due to fond memories of the game or whatever.
