Is it honestly that hard to post in a topic like civilized human beings, rather than derailing them with random quotes and images?

...yes.

No, seriously, I just like to argue about grammar.

Hey! Hey! You! Yes, you! You look like you know your grammar!

Am I right about the double negative thing?

I hardly don't see those anymore. XD

= Do see those, correct?

And then, we should get back on topic...

Andross will not stay dead. He's an iconic character and Nintendo's not about to throw him away.

Yes you are correct, and on topic I agree Andross won't stay dead due to Nintendo tradition.

It's almost like dumping Bowser from Mario IMO

Not even close. Mario barely has a plot, so dropping the villain would be horrible. Star Fox, despite being mostly an explosion simulator, actually has (sort of ) developed characters and a plot that could make room for a new villain pretty easily.

Andross is a legacy villain though, with deep ties into several characters, primarily Fox and Peppy and General Pepper, and that can not be replaced by a simple new villain (as we have seen in the series already).

No, not really. You're forgetting that, when people think Mario's archenemy, they think Bowser, and when people think of StarFox's archenemy, they think of Andross.

A villain who has been killed countless times already. Legacy or not, dead should equal dead, especially in a game like Star Fox where death is apparently quite a reality, what with the team actually thinking Peppy died and such. I know there's all kinds of loopholes that have probably been exploited as to why you're still fighting the same giant floating head, but Star Fox needs to evolve plot-wise. Fighting the same final boss over and over again can only be so exciting, and it's probably much easier than you make it out to be to replace him. The problem is Nintendo probably won't try very hard, and thus we see the failed attempts we already have.

Mario is not a game with a very intricate plot. It thrives on stability and using the same thing over and over again, purely because of its simplicity. Star Fox has decided on trying to develop its plot and characters, which can't be done with the same basic plot holding the series back forever. And to be perfectly honest, I think of Wolf far before I think of Andross.

Countless? Try 2, in the games anyway. SF2 is noncanon, 64 replaced the SNES game, and the comic is of dubious canon depending on who you ask, not to mention he wasn't even fully revived and in his right mind there.

Now, I'm not saying that Andross will forever be the primary enemy of StarFox, in fact, I hope he isn't. I just expect him to make a few cameo-like appearances in later games like he did in SFC.

I'm counting Adventures as one of the 2. And he wasn't alive in Command, just talked about in hushed voices. The ghostzombiehead of Command's choice was.. Pigma (another sloppily killed off character).

I never liked Pigma anyways.

His ghost was alive in Command, though. In the giant bee-thing.

Two times is still more than is necessary. Look at the Resident Evil series. You never fight Wesker (that I know of) except for at the end of RE5. At the end of that fight, you kill him, and you kill him dead. He was a legacy villain, and he took one kill to get rid of. In Andross's case, they made the mistake of reusing a villain who was a boss fight that you have to win, ergo Andross should die. Instead, they bring him back just because "Well hell, why not?" That kills any sense of accomplishment for killing him in the first place, since you didn't actually kill him.

Cameo appearances? Maybe in a flashback or something, but he should never actually appear. If he's dead, he should stay dead.

People die in Resident Evil and come back to life all the time, including Wesker. On top of that, Nintendo has a habit of returning their villains all the time, so yeah.

Wesker died once in the beginning, and used the virus to come back to life. It was a one time deal, and it didn't cheapen the feeling at all because the player wasn't the one to kill him, and also because at that point Wesker wasn't the supervillain he is today. He was just a psycho with cool shades and bad voice acting. As for Nintendo returning their villains to life all the time, that doesn't make it any more acceptable. It's a crutch that's standing in the way of any real development of the Star Fox plotline.

And never returning him without a proper characterized send off is just as bad writing, because you basically just let the past mistakes fester.

Also I play Starfox for action shootan, not plot. If I wanted a plot I'd play Metal Geaaaaaaar or whatever.

Heck, StarFox's plot makes the "Story" from Unreal 3 look like an Oscar-Nominee.
