Xortberg
1 agreed2 agreed3 Yes, I have had problems. Some friends of mine asked me something for Christmas which i bought them that stuff. It was relatively expensive items and it was hard earned money from hard work. All of that went down the toilet when they sold it saying it wasn't what they wanted even when they specifically told me it was the item the wanted. Hell, some people used it to give to their girlfriends. FREELOADERS. If they told me they needed cash to get the stuff I would've invited them to work with me for decent pay. It's treachery and deceit. I hate, hate, hatity hate it when a friend asks something from me and blows it off, soon becoming a douchebag. You know what I do to those people?I tell their families and friends that if they give them anything, they wont get anything back. These former friends of mine were freeloaders, as before mentioned and wasted everything that was given to them on worthless crap. They are also liars. This is why I like to keep Christmas in the family and with close friends. I swear, if this happens to me one more time I will simply avoid all commercialization and celebrate it by myself with a Christmas tree and an open fire. No friends, no family, no nothing, because apparently suffering loneliness is better than being betrayed and or used. This is why I hate commercialization. I just wished I didn't have to remember that just to make my point. I donate to charities and all. I do my part to help the world, but when it comes to specified people, it's a small list.Cry some moar. Consumerism is central to our entire economic system. If you have had personal issues with this shit, sorry. That doesn't give you an excuse to say that one of the main things keeping our economy floating shouldn't happen just because a couple of people were dicks to you. Seems to me this topic has degenerated into a Tiberius Pity Party. To be perfectly honest, I agree with you that commercialization of this shit has caused most people to lose sight of the real meaning behind the holiday. Of course, I also believe that you shouldn't need a holiday in order to be generous and giving. Here's a thought for you:Go out during Christmas. Buy some shit and give it to charity. Bam, you're a good person and there's nothing anyone can do to change that.
Tiberius
To be perfectly honest I wouldn't have brought that up if someone didn't ask. If someone reminds me of an incident, I will rant. 'nuff said. I'm not looking for pity, I'm just answering a question so bugger off.You got the point in your second paragraph though, so that's all that matters. Also, I give to charity if you didn't see above. A dollar a day if I can. On average it's 3-4 days a week. Take 365 divided by 7, take what you get from that and multiply it by 4/7. It's at least 50% of the year, which amounts to over 130 dollars a year. I should get a gold star *sarcasm*.Honestly, since this topic has been blown out of proportion because of me, I REALLY want someone to shut it down.
