The point of this topic is to think that what newly introduced characters in the franchise was truely a masterpiece? Examples of new characters can be like Waluigi, Krystal, Chip, Shadow the Hedgehog and etc. Just remember, no old characters please (They were made in 1990-2000). Who do you think would be the best new character of the decade? My guess is Ramon Salazar from Resident Evil 4.

what?

Characters like Mario, Luigi, Yoshi, Wario, Sonic, Tails, Knuckles and etc. do not qualify for this because they were introduced in 1990-2000.

I love Krystal, but after playing Twilight Princess my answer is Midna. She was comical and dark at the same time, and I like that! But Krystal's definitely second.

Besides Krystal being my first choice, I'd have to go with Rouge the Bat or Shadow the Hedgehog.

ITT: how hot a character is determines their worth

Come -ON- people.  Krystal HAS NOT DONE SHIT and there are GOOD characters out there that deserve your votes more. Example: Yuri Lowell from Tales of Vesperia. Arguably one of the only recent JRPG heroes that isn't a whiny little twit. It's hard to explain exactly why he's a good character, but generally it's because he's not a generic do-good knight in shiny armor with a big sword. Another nice example is Portal's GLaDoS. There's an unforgettable character right there, and is most of the reason why the game is so widely loved.

What does Krystal honestly have? Honestly?

Mario's first game was in 1981 (Donkey Kong) and Luigi's first game was in 1983 (Mario Bros.)

Sex appeal, and that means a LOT. :P

What's it to you whether or not someone's favourite character is Krystal. Forgive me if I'm mistaken in believing that you're the character fan base police. I know I'm not the only one who likes her for reasons other than, "zomg bewbies!" Ugh, it killed me a little inside to type that. Anyway, surprisingly enough, my choice is Krystal *crowd gasps and M. Night Shyamalan appears saying, "What a twist!"*. Never played Tales of Vesperia, and as much as I enjoy listening to GLaDoS, pardon me if I would prefer to be around an orphaned, blue anthropomorphic vixen that lives in space and pilots space-navigating fighter crafts, has telepathic powers, and as it seems, a damned good personality to boot; over a malfunctioning, homicidal A.I..

Though if people liking Krystal will stick in your craw so bad, then I'll toss in this secondary, which would be Maiden Astraea (Uh-streye-uh) and Garl Vinland from Demon's Souls (they're a matched set). Why do I like these two? For one, the voice acting for them (and just about every character in that game) is amazing, and their stories for the most part. Astraea became a "demon" because she found out about the god of that universe, or to be more precise, the lack of one, and so to ease the pain of abandonment, she accepted the soul of a demon, because demons are the actual higher powers to man in that game. And note, not all demons are evil in that game. Anyway, she entered the Valley of Defilement with the goal to bring peace to the suffering (real demonic and evil, huh?), and live with the rest of the abandoned. Garl Vinland is her bodyguard, companion, and some have speculated lover, who is devoted body and soul to her, and will never leave her side, except by death. Upon your entering the area, and through the fight, they attempt to guilt trip you (and I'll be damned if it didn't work on me, as I became rather empathetic to them, and did not want to fight them, but had to in order to progress the game), and make your character out to seem the villain of the situation, being greedy, power-hungry, and the aggressor (which you really seem to be in that situation, as Garl Vinland nor Astraea won't attack you until you attack them, or get too close to Garl). And if you kill Garl, Astraea will give up and commit suicide so you can have, "your precious Demon Soul." On the other hand, if you kill Astraea first, Garl will not react to you at all unless you attack him, and simply stand there with his head slumped down in defeat and depression. Oh yeah, and Garl Vinland looks awesome in his Dark Silver Armour (which I have in the game).

Here's the video of their cinematic and their fight. Unfortunately, the guy has his brightness too high, which ruins the ambiance of the area (game is meant to be played very dark), and he fights Garl in a really annoying way. Also, it's obviously his first play through on that character as Garl has little health and damage compared to what he could be doing.

*WARNING* There is blood and corpses. Also, when he's stabbing the generic worshiping enemies, it's not bad A.I. that the others don't react, they just don't care enough about you or their friends to stop worshiping.

Krystal is 98% sex appeal. The last 2% is a bland and uninteresting stock love interest "personality" that unrealistically and Mary Sue'dly learned to fly professionally in just a year. Anyone, ANYONE who picks her for reasons that aren't agumented by how much she turns them on/otherwise appeals to sexuality either haven't played very many games, or are plain freakin' lying as there are BETTER characters in her own series.

GLaDoS was a homicidal AI that also happened to be clever, funny, and a bit creepy. Again, she was a lot of the reason Portal is so memorable, she's pretty much the face and heart of the game. There's more good characters out there, someone mentioned Midna who is pretty good, and it utterly makes me want to tear my hair out to see freakin' KRYSTAL getting all these votes. Stop thinking with your dick SFO, and if it's not that then I dare you to say, even briefly, 3 things about Krystal that makes her "ZOMG the greatest character ever!" that also couldn't apply to all the other stock female leads. Hell, I'd even be impressed by ONE, because Krystal really IS just that boring.

Can't seem to deny you on that one, I would've picked GLaDoS:

At first, it was Krystal amongst others. but sadly she's fallen to second place.  Anyway, the decision was a hard one in thinking about it because 10 years of gaming intros a lot of characters.  so far, there have been good ones, but theres this one particular game that I've played that got me addicted and liking this one. pretty sure some know who she is.

Awesome powers and the character is probably in one of my favorite interactive games for the Wii. Never fails to provide some form of comedy too. XD.  Also saw a confirmation video of Amaterasu being in MvC 3.  Naturally, the Wii doesn't get any of the good stuff because of keeping a 'family' image. Nintendo is blatantly ignoring the fan base that gave it fame in the first place, sadly.

Im going to have to say Master Chief. I mean, in ten years he has had 4 games and has compleatly redifined the first person shooter genre.

Dang, looks like i missed the fireworks. I have excuses, I don't play that very many games, PC games don't work, I only own a wii, and my most recent game is SSBB. Some of my other favorite characters are wind waker link and Xavier Stone, because afros are just plain Awesome.

That's acceptable, though it's a shame more people aren't playing the good games this gen has to offer. That said Wind Waker Ganon was also pretty nice, it actually gave Zelda's Big Bad some sympathetical quality.

and has compleatly redifined the first person shooter genre.

Oh? How so? (/was a 12 year old noob at the time)
