And here is the crux of the problem.

I already said it: Blue is my favourite color.

because he or she is blue is... Well, shallow.

Starfox is pretty shallow though. It's less about characters and more about blasting through stages so you can fight bosses that throw narm-tastic lines at you.

It's not supposed to be Metal Gear Solid, it's supposed to be akin to a Saturday morning cartoon.

And it's a gameplay element. Canonly, Falco would NEVER need help, because he could just pull a loop/u-turn and shake them his own damned self. Fox is a weaker pilot than Falco and regularly pulls this off, so something doesn't quite add up.

Peppy is also pretty good and is the one ISSUING THE ADVICE most of the time, so in StarFox and StarFox 64, that leaves only Slippy to be chased. This is boring, so they had the other two regularly need saving. This transitions into Assault, even though Peppy is gone and Krystal replaces him, however they still let Falco be chased for the sake of dialogue diversity and to lend fairness in those medals awarded to keeping teamates alive.

How many times they were chased in game means nothing, as it stands. What does, however, is Slippy's acknowledged buttmonkey skill and Krystal's newness while never being stated a prodigy (which makes it kind of bullshit that she manages to be in an elite team that takes down ARMIES.) Falco and Peppy on the otherhand, has had years of experience and learned at an academy.

I know, but I worded that wrong.

In essense, in a game like Starfox, it does not make

sense how you look... It is what you do what matters,

and that is what can lead you to victory (completing the game),

or failure  (game over).

"Good" reasons are matters of opinion. One person thinks it's a good reason, another one doesn't.

Main reason I like Krystal though? Because I fucking do (note that doesn't have a tone of anger in it). I gotta get a "vibe" out of a character. I like a character not always for what they are, but what they do for me.

Well there's a big difference for why you like a character and why that character is not "the best" or something like that by universal standards. We are not arguing about whether or not krystal can be liked by people.

I *DO* like Krystal. I like how she looks,

and I like her basic backstory (albeit kinda overused

nowdays it is). And I would like to have to explore

her past and such.

Now: as a character, I can not like her. Not because I dislike

her or anything - it is because there is nothing for me to delve into.

Her past? Her origins? Everything is left for the fanon. And I do not

necesarily think that 'fanon' is a good source.

Not really. I said I wouldn't get involved in this shouting match, and I didn't. As I said, it's an unwinnable case with closed minded people, and as mentioned in another thread, there is nothing that can define a 'good' character that at least some 'good' characters lack.

This topic came up from another topic that had krystal as the best character of the decade. The debate here was to prove why she was the best, or why she wasn't. Then it spread into "alright then, give me GOOD reasons for why she's even a good character, giving good bases"

Why people think X character is the best over Y character is a matter of bias, if you ask me. I don't think a character is the "best" if I don't like them. Character I like the most is to me, the best. I'm not on some committee that has to have a chart of why a character is good to me. I can have any opinion for any reason I want. Krystal is the best character for me because I like Krystal the most. I get the most out of her, and the possibly sexually attractive part of her is completely stonewalled to me.
