Vote for me goes to Mario Party 2, though the music in the game isn't really better than the original, the gameplay was challenging for me making it more fun for me to beat the Hard CPUs and the tougher mini-games, it even brought back some mini-games that were in the original Mario Party.

The only theme I think of when I hear Mario Party is this:

Honestly, who doesn't like this theme?

I like the first, save for the Tug of War minigame.

Damn you, tug of war...

Let me guess, you got a blister one time when you rotated the control stick too much?

Not a blister, but a freaking hole in the skin of my hand that burnt like hell!

Thank you, minigame island... T_T

I pick 5 because it has my favorite mini games.  Also, Bonus mode was awesome.  I played beach volleyball for hours. lol

3 & 5. I rented 5 and Loved every second of it. And I turned on my 64 and an error occurred and erased all my MP 3 data. -sadfaic-

WHAT THE HECK!!! NO ONE VOTED # ONE!!! Is what I would say if 2 didn't have everything 1 had and more. I'm still mildly suprised that not a single person voted though. I will leave my final decision at 6, however, I love the 2nd and first just as much.

Regardless of the hand-aching "rotate the control stick" minigames, MP1 is my fav' personally. The one that started it all. I like the options menu is a town, the minigames are fun, and the levels, (especially the unlockable ones) are nice. Especially "Eternal Star." The music's pretty good to.

I hear rumors that Mario Party 2 is coming to Virtual Console.

Defiantly number 2, oh how I despised some of those mini-games on the Minigame rollercoaster, or mine ride, I forget what it really was.

(It's the Mini-game Coaster.)

I despised some of them too, but as you keep practing, you'll get the hang of it!

I bet I still have my progress from where I got stuck on the cartridge still. I believe I am stuck on the dance memorization minigame. I despise that mini-game with a passion, cause I can't remember all those button and direction inputs.

"Move to the music"? Yeah, it was a little hard for me although I am quite good at memorizing the buttons to press. It would be much easier if the game was on the PC...

(Try to pause in the mini-game, yeah you can't cheat in the mini-game but it's possible in the PC version.)

I recently got MP2 for Wii. (Via Virtual Console rerelease.)

The Mini-game coaster is a pain in "hard" mode, (but you have to beat it, if you wanna get the hidden minigames, and purchasable battle minigames from Woody, and such) but I do have some advice for it.

What I did to beat the "move to the music" level, (due to having a very bad short-term memory) I took out a piece of paper, and QUICKLY wrote down all of the button combinations, as they appeared, and then mimicked 'em.

Also, one of the hardest levels in the Coaster (on the hard route) for me was probably the "Hot rope jump." You have to jump 50 times to beat it. It may sound impossible, at first, but you can do it with enough practice.

My advice is to buy the "Hot rope jump" minigame from Woody, set all of CP players to "hard," or "super hard," and practice it in the minigame park a few times beforehand. (Be sure to go into practice mode, so you can quickly start over if you screw up.) Took me a few days, but I finally beat it, after enough practice.

I honestly haven't played the GameCube MP games yet. (Not even via rental.) I guess 'cause back then I didn't have many people around to play 'em with.

I got "Mario Party 8" (the only Wii MP game so far) for my birthday recently. Sense that game hasn't gotten any votes lately, I guess I'll give a semi-review of it.

While I admit, it wasn't my most wanted game, (would've rather of had Mario Kart Wii, or SSBB) I have to admit it's pretty fun, even when there's nobody else around to play it with. Sometimes the CP opponents can be a bit annoying at times, (sometimes getting to many advantages sometimes) making the game require a li'l luck, as well as skill, and good decisions, (though you can give yourself a few handicap stars) but it's pretty good regardless. (And you still get rewards in the game regardless who wins.) Taking turns seems to take a li'l longer then the N64 games sometimes though, slowing the pace down a bit. (But at least the options seem more customizable then past MP games to make up for it.)

The game also has some pretty nice level boards, (one of wich is a city-themed one requiring you to invest your money in hotels giving it a "Monopoly" vibe) and a nice mix of minigames that use either motion Wii controls in clever ways, (one requires you to shake up a can of soda more then the other players) as well as some that only use buttons like the classic MP games. (So the motion effects don't always feel tacked-on.)

One of my favorite minigames is one where one person has to climb up a bunch of side-scrolling style elevader platforms, (using traditional button controls holding the Wii-mote sideways) while the other 3 (stationed off-screen from a Bullet Bill-shaped black-OPs helicopter) try to shoot him, and slow him down. (With Wii motion controls.) There's also a decent one-player duel mode, and a few unlockable cool bonus minigames, (for one or multiple people) as well.

So MP8 proves to be a solid entry in the series. It also feels like it has a slightly less "kiddy" vibe then previous MP games.

One thing that kinda annoys me about the recent MP games is, Donkey Kong got taken out of the playable character roster, (starting with MP6) in favor of less popular Mario characters like the Boo ghost. (Who the heck wants to play as a Boo ghost? King Boo maybe, but a generic Boo?)

I don't understand why, DK was Mario's first nemesis, and is very iconic to the Mario series. (At least he's still around as a NPC, I suppose, but it seems unfair considering he is the only character taken out, who was from the first N64 MP games.)
