I look at the beat and quality of the song. I like to hear those things no one else does in a song.

I appreciate the beat and tune versus the lyrics. Lyrics are trivial. That's why I hate pop and rap. They're all about the lyrics.

I also don't care about the lyrics as long as the song sounds good. Though good lyrics are a plus.

I agree. This song is awesome, but also has great (and mentionable clean) lyrics. I hate lyrics that are all about doing women.

I listen to mostly progressive metal, although anything except rap and country work for me.

Most screamo stuff is annoying. I found only one screamo band I even remotely like, and it's because the guitars save it for me.

I'm getting into post-rock. Really crazy genre, relaxing, but intense.

Classical music 1860s-present and any other Orchestral style to come from that period. I like many styles, ranging from the bombastic styles of Dimitri Shostakovich, Richard Strauss and Sir Edward Elgar the more laid-back stuff by Aaron Copland and Leroy Anderson. Also, film/TV/Game score, particularly the work of John Williams.

Shostakovich (Symphony 5, Mvmt 4, Allegro non troppo):

n0iqZbM1Pdc

Elgar (Wand of Youth Suite No. 1, Overture)[Vid is longer than the music]:

XeYN_Wc4Xi0

Strauss (Also Sprache Zarathustra, Mvmt 7, Convalescent)[Yes, there is more to this work than was used in 2001 ;) ]

Copland (Rodeo, Mvmt 4: Hoedown):

eSSr5iXFCfw

*Note: In the title of this work, "Rodeo" is pronounced "row-DAY-oh" rather than "row-DEE-oh"

Sorry for that awful bass sound at the beginning. The only really good performance of this piece on Youtube was not embed-allowed. Mostly High School and College orchestras with huge tuning issues, cracked notes in the brass, and/or way too slow of tempo.

Anderson (Sleigh Ride):

OATi34PKNPw

Williams (The Mission [NBC News]):

For some reason, people can't STFU and enjoy the music when this is played. They insist on laughing for some reason. Anyway, there is actually a full 4-movement suite to this work. Sadly, it has never been publicly released. Only one album containing it was ever cut, and was given to NBC employees. I have managed to find a rip of it online, but it is a tough one to find. The movements are 1. "NBC News", 2. "Fugue for Changing Times", 3. "Scherzo for Today", 4. "Pulse of Events."  The concert version of the work sadly only contains an expanded first movement. I am particularly fond of movements 2 and 4.

Nothing like 30-100+ people all playing music together. This many players makes for very nice music, as the composer isn't limited to the abilities of five people like many modern genres are. Also, you can't auto-tune this. You have to really know how to perform to sound good. There is no magic box that can make you sound better like there is in pop music.

There isn't really a genre I can say I dislike, however that just means there are alot of songs I can't stand. Most of the time, I listen to classic rock. Stuff like Alice Cooper, The Beatles, Aerosmith, Def Leppard, Styx, Motley Crue, Led Zeppelin, AC/DC, Dio, Chicago, The Stray Cats, Supertramp, Dire Straits, Van Halen, etc.

I'm still into power metal and techno. For a little while now, I've been a big fan of J-rock. Heres a few I like:

Guess I'll answer this. Why not?

If I had to pick one, I guess I'd say fantasy metal, like Blind Guardian, Nightwish, Dragonforce, etc. That said, I have a wide range of tastes and can enjoy everything except rap and country, as well as about half of all pop songs.
