Asper Sarnoff
Hi folks. Just wanted to say I'll be unavailable from Sunday evening till next Saturday, and then the same with the week following that. This due to two induvidual field excersizes which I'll be participating in. This'll also be the first time I roll alongside the rest of the batallion in the role I'll fill for the rest of my service, as an ARV driver.Wish me best of luck! Asper Sarnoff
Okay ladies and gents, I'm back in again for the weekend. Thanks a lot for your encouragement, much appreciated. The first field excersize was nice. Was a heck of a lot of work for us though, see as some troops from the Dutch armed forces had been brought in to reinforce the "enemy" side in the conflict. Sorry to say it to you, if there are any Dutch here, but you can't drive on snow if it was to save your lives.Every single ditch in the excersize area was jam-packed with Dutch Leopard 2A6's, Fennek's, MB's and Büeffels. Vy'drach
The Dutch aren't the only ones. The U.S. tankers are usually the laughing stock of the armed forces (no offense to anyone). Dad would tell me stories of tankers getting lost in the middle of a convoy, y'know, just follow the tank in front of you, getting hopelessly lost, then calling in to him (being a Cav Scout) to come find them, and giving their nearest landmark to help locate him as, "You know the moon? I'm right underneath it." Or the tankers arguing with my dad about where they were on the map, so my dad had one tanker get off the Abrams, start shaking a little tree on the side of the road, telling the tanker with the map to find the tree shaking on it. Guy actually looks for a few minutes, while my dad's scouts are trying not to laugh. But anyway, good to hear you had fun there, Asper. Or at least was kept busy. Asper Sarnoff
Ahhh, good to be back in again! Weekend will do me good, to say the least. The next following weeks are going to be hectic, servicing and cleaning all our gear, but not so that I'll be unable to keep contact.
