Plague Based Enemies

I've noticed a trend in video games. In a lot of games, some of the enemy groups you encounter are usually created through some sort of infection.

Examples.

EVERY Zombie game

Resident Evil 4 and 5's Las Plagas

Dead Space's Necromorphs

Metroid Fusion's X-Parasites

Halo's Flood

Star Fox's Aparoids

And many more......

Out of all the games, which one of these 'plague based enemies' do you think is the most dangerous?

Me personally, I think the X-Parasites would be the greatest threat to humanity. They mimic and cross-mutate their host organisms flawlessly, and also steal their hosts memories and knowledge. NOTHING except Metroids can kill them, and Samus killed all of the Metroids. Even with Samus receiving Metroid DNA which allowed her to fight them, if they had managed to get off of SR388 and the BSL station, face it, EVERY life form is screwed.

X-Parasites are bad, however the Borg are worse.

The Borg can assimilate the GROUND itself. A planet's core.

This means they would have been able to not only assimilate the station,

but Samus, and even the X viruses.

There was an episode of Star Trek Voyager where the Borg came across a species they COULDN'T assimilate, and were an even greater threat than them, which means they can't assimilate everything. The X-Parasites can spread through the entire nervous system of a creature, even machines. So I think the X can put up a fight against the Borg.

Lol, I agree. But it is a 50% vs 50%.

The borg can take control of the X's symbiosis,

althrough the X could take control of Borg assimilation process.

Who knows, perhaps they would merge in a onnowearefvcked life-form.

Guest Mr. Mario

Las Plagas isn't that dangerous...if you were a zombie, it makes you smart and insted of eating your victim, you use pitchforks...knives, chainsaws.

Aparoids, not a chance. They just make you a part of them, then you convinvce others by using a voice of that person they like to "Join us...this is no evolution."

I might consider Dead Space's Necromorphs bad but not as bad as I think it would be.

I may say the virus in Dead Rising would be bad, but...if only Carlito was a little bit more specific, I could explain why.

I didn't see any viruses in House of the Dead....

For these i will list my favorite and why i feel they are dangerous.

The Borg from startrek obviously come to mind whY? they assimilate all life and will not stop until all are borg...

the next on my list are the Aparoids unlike the borg  assimlate not just people but Mechanicle stuff as well so  not only do they take over people but technology. This makes the very dangerous.

Next on my list  THe flood from the Halo series like the borg they seek to  contain all life and  their mass numbers really assist in this endevour the flood have many forms to whcih they can combat and assimlate with

the next  one I'd like to list is the Zerg from stacraft  a mean killing machine of assimlated species twisted and morphed into efficient killing machine the Zerg are nothing short of the ultimate Killing machine only seeking to assimlate the highest 'predator' to further their efficient killing.

I love the Borg. They are DANG COOL.

But the Zerg... I hate 'em. They are, well,

ugly, and use biological attacks. That freaks me out.

I'd have to go with plague babies from Demon's Souls. They live in a swamp made of the plague itself (which is THE worst debuff in the game), can infect you with the plague if the swamp doesn't, are very short, can dive into the swamp and move very quickly (which the swamp brings you to a crawl, btw), and have claws a good six inches or so long, and there is literally a limitless supply of them.

Freaks from Crackdown 1 and 2 fit this category pretty well since they were genetically mutated human beings from failed experiments that soon rapidly spanned across Pacific City.

Left 4 Dead.  Zombies EVERYWHERE that were caused by something.  (I forgot though lol)

Red Dead Redemption Undead Nightmare was caused by a mask being stolen from a tomb which caused all the dead people to rise up from the grave *Spoiler*

Warcraft is a rip off of Warhammer. Humans fighting orks that are actually aliens? (If you read the description for the orks in WoW, they are actually from another planet)

I think the most dangerous infected in a video game would be the ascension from Shadows of Siranda. They are heavily armored, extremely fast, and one touch and the victim instantly turns into one. They basically destroy entire planets that they deem "full of sin" within a matter of hours.

In general media, Agent Smith would be the most dangerous, Agent Smith is a computer virus so he would count as an infection. He creates thousands of copies of himself and he never actually gets defeated.

Sort of. Warhammer orcs are a fungus from space.

Starcraft has it's basis in first and second edition 40k.

Resident Evil 4 and 5's Las Plagas

Uroboros was the infestation on RE5

What about the monsters and sh*t that "hell" created on Doom 3?  That's a scary thought...

Ah, how could I forget. The enemies from Run Like Hell. Not exactly plague-based, but they behave like it. Enemies from Dead Space seemed kind of like a rip-off of the RLH ones. There were:

Cutters: The most common alien, cutters are fast and lethal subspecies of The Race. They use long, sharp blades at the end of thier arms to kill their enemies. Their apperance was obviously inspired by ther the Alien from the Alien series or the Zerg from the Starcraft series.

Brutes: Large, heavily muscled, and extremely dangerous, Brutes are nearly invincible and extremely strong. Instead of engaging the Brutes in direct combat, the player must either evade them, or use the space stations mining machines to trap or kill them.

Scouts: Scouts are fast, small, and resembling large scorpions. The scouts are encountered by the player later in the game, as they are held off during the first day of attack.

Scout Sprites: These nasty buggers look like small spiders, and emerge from the dead bodies of scouts. When they get close to Nick Conner and his friends, they explode. Although they are the weakest of the enemies, they often have numbers on their side, and can slow the player down.

Amalgamators: These tall, gruesome aliens act like mechanics for The Race. They  sever human appendages and them attaching them to other members of The Race, thus making them stronger, or they break down human bodies and absorb the remains into the biomass of The Race.

Elites: The leaders of The Race, Elites look like humans, except they don't have any heads. Their eyes appear to be emmbedded in their chest. Elites have the ability to gain the knowledge of their victim and even allowing  impersonate him/her in video communications by sticking the victims head on their own body.

The Biomass: This organic tissue slowly grows over the space station and turns it into a habitable place for The Race.

One thing it forgot to mention about the Amalgamator is the ability to just take random human parts, and make an alien creature from it. One of the enemies is a severed human head on a pair of human hands to use as "legs."

Here's a "Cutter."
