School poll: Best videogame of all time?

Kal

Recommended Posts

Results:

1. Halo 2

2. Halo

3....it just gets worse from there.

RE4 got #4, while SMB managed to get #8. Zelda, Metroid, Goldeneye, Perfect Dark, hell, even Tetris got snubbed.

Any faith I had left in humanity just flatlined.

Halo sucks. I hate it, its more like gaylo. Xbox sucks to top it all off as well. Man people forget the classics like Goldeneye, Zelda OOT, Total War Series, Sonic series (old ones not the new crappy ones), and a few others. Man I hope the Xbox 360 fails cause I bloody hate them (PCs are fine but taking over the gaming market no way). All the kids at my school care about is GTA, Halo, and a bunch of other gayass modern army games. Man I wish I could beat sense into these traitors (most of the kids at my school grew up on n64, genesis, and SNES now they all fall for halo and that pisses me off.) Man I could go on forever about this stuff but I guess Ill shut up now.

The people who voted for Halo probably haven't playes SMB in years. SMB is best of all time, hands down.

Though I've seen worse. I've seen one that looked like this:

1. Madden 2005

2. Halo 2

3. Halo

4. Madden 2004

5. Madden 2003

How can the same damn game win 3 of the top 5?

The good news is that gaming seems to be losing it's luster in pop culture. Once games fade from pop culture and return to true gamers, games will be good again else they won't sell.

heh...yeah,I own an xbox, And I have some complaints

when A gaming console has versitility, it lacks power (the xbox), when it has power, it lacks versitility (GC)

I went for the versitility, as starfox is the only GC title taht holds my interest anymore......and I can get A used rig for 'bout $45 at the local pawn shop.......the xboxes go for $120

as far as microsoft dominating the world, it is because there isn't real competition, B/C nintendo oly caters to the younger market, and sony is so popular it is in is own category..........

I dislike sony for more than I dislike Microsoft.

-edit-

something tells me that Mirosoft decided (or was told to) keep the power of the xbox down to where it was able to be compeated with, as not to piss off the other companies. they couldv'e just ran dual embedded P3 1.4's and 512 mb without rasing the cost much, and had built in mp3 making.

then Nintendo would've been in trouble, big time, and they where idiots to sell Rare.....

I tend not to pay attention to those just becaus its easy to ask a select audience. If they asked it here the results would be similar to:

1:Star Fox

2:Mario/Zelda

so on and so on.

As much as I love Halo, I wouldn't say it's the best game ever. I'd vote for OoT. Hands down.

A game's special when I can play through it three times and not get bored.

See, therein lies my point. I wasn't listing games that got snubbed; I was listing series. That's my problem. Not mentioning a great game from almost twenty years ago is one thing; not mentioning the greatest game in the history of a last-gen platform is completely different.

Heh, try arguably the best game to date.

The Zelda team's still pretty focused on at least equating OoT with Twilight Princess, and that should say something.

As for the best series, I'd still say Zelda. It's survived this long and still doesn't cease to amuse and provide some excellent games.

That and Final Fantasy, neithier of which spare any expense in making awsome games.

Guest Grimloq

Three best games ever made in no specific order:

Deus Ex; Deus Ex: Invisible War

Freespace & Silent Threat; Freespace 2

The Specialists (Mod for Half-Life)

I've played the 'best games ever'. They don't even come close to those I just listed.

In my tastes, top 3 fave series are...

1). Guilty Gear. Reason: So amazing in graphics, though a 2-D fighting game. It loads quick, is most definatly original compared to all other fighting games. Also it has a heavy metal sounding sound track. I love teh heavy metal, y'know?

2). Phantasy Star. Reason: An amazing RPG, it, for it's time, was great. Even nowadays it's comparable to FF. Besides, it has an online RPG in it's series that I actually am getting addicted to.

3). Super Mario Bros. Reason: It's what got me into video games, y'know?

Heck yes it is. Although SF is better. >>

Yes. Starfox is much better.

Well, if it can survive 10 years, I'd actually call it pretty darn successful.

Not too many franchises make it that far, and those that do are usually pretty good, so....
