A little staff restructuring

As you may have noticed, Steve is now handling forum staff selection. This is part of some staff restructuring we are doing to hopefully resolve some of the drama issues we've had lately.

I have come to the conclusion that I am too soft when it comes to handling things, and as a result I think the community has suffered more drama than it otherwise would have if stricter action were taken. Because of this, I have decided to step back and allow the Lead Moderator, Steve, handle the major moderating decisions autonomously. In addition to this, the moderators will receive more authority as well, including the ability to immediately issue a 75% warning, which triggers a 24-hr no-posting punishment (effectively a 24-hr temp-ban). This is an emergency thing that allows mods to stop someone from posting if need be. All instant 75% warns will be reviewed by an admin who will make the decision as to whether to lift it, let it stand, or extend it.

So, I would like to ask you to please inform a full mod if you need something moderated or cleaned-up (locked, moved, etc.). If you think a behavior issue needs admin attention, then please contact Steve. Please do not inundate Steve, though. We have full mods for a reason. They should be the ones you go to for most issues.

I will still be the one to come to if you wish to file a complaint about a moderator, or if there are any technical issues with the site or forums. Also if there is some kind of emergency, like the SA goons showing up again or something, then by all means let me know.

Most of the transition will happen at the beginning of the year. Because of the Holidays, I will still help moderate for the next month, but then I will step back and let the rest of the staff handle it.

BTW, I will still do any basic moderation that needs to be done if I stumble upon it, because that's the prudent thing to do. I just won't be answering reports once the end of the year comes.

And of course the people on 4chan were able to find the old lady in the video of her throwing a cat into a garbage can, and the girl in the video where she was throwing puppies into a river, and proceeded to harass and Lord knows what else until they turned themselves in. All in all, not a good idea to take chances with 4chan, as they can probably find out who you are in real life and make your life considerably more aggravating.

Right. They are confusing anon the concept with 4chan, that happens to have this. Sure SOME /b/ raids like that simple one succeed, but most, esp RL ones, fail. A fur con they trolled was seen as good fun by con goers, but some out of context photos made it appear to be a 'win'.

Another in my home city has them harrassing Scientology (or however it's spelled) but anyone with familarity with the area knows that A- The church is above another building so chances are few of those were there for the chruch, and second, that from where they were shouting is actually right next to second biggest bus station in the city. You can barely hear someone next to you, let alone way down the street.
