"User"
I just read this online today.http://www.thestar.com/news/canada/article/906577--hundreds-trapped-for-second-day-on-highway-near-sarnia?bn=1 I've driven the entire stretch of Highway 402 many times and it's more or less a "barren wasteland" as they are very few signs of civilization or service centers right along the road. I feel for these people as this is worse than when I was trapped for three days up in Strathroy after my accident and had 100 cm of snow far in one long ass snowfall that lasted almost 48 hours. Also, these storms have affected quite a large area in American Mid-west and in some of the southern states as well. One NFL game got postponed twice now because of the same storm system, only the 2nd time it crushed the roof of the Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome where the Vikings play.Has anyone else had any of these snow storms affect you in ways besides giving you days off from school? Also, feel free to discuss past events affecting you relating to snow (you can post pictures if you want as well).
Star Fox Runner
There was a really bad ice storm that came through my part of Missouri once. Didn't really affect me directly, but there was tons of tree damage throughout my town and the power was knocked out for quite a while because the ice weighed down the power lines so badly they collapsed.Meanwhile, down in St. Louis, the power had been knocked out almost through the entire area and people didn't get their power back for almost two weeks, some people died because of it. El Zorro de la Estrella
Not exactly effecting me, but... The latest snowstorm caused the latest Vikings game to be delayed to Monday night...And then moved to Detroit when the snow caused the dome's roof to collapse! It was AWESOME!!Here's the video of it happening!:

"User"
Everything here stopped. Seriously, the UK gets some snow and all hell breaks loose.Reminds me of North Carolina a couple of years ago and how they closed all schools, colleges, and people were wiping out on the roads due to a pathetic 4 cm's of snow. Even if you don't have any snow tires seriously...it's NOT THAT HARD TO DRIVE IN 4 CM! I personally don't even notice a real difference.Or Vegas with all the accidents due to a light frosting.... People here even started panic-buying, stripping the shops bare. I ran out of food and couldn't get any because the shelves were bare and delivery wasn't due for about a week.
Kid_Cortet
I hate it when it snows here, it was so bad at work last night that from like 7pm until closing there were only two other people other then myself working. ><
El Zorro de la Estrella
Most perfect example I can come up with:The Halloween Blizzard of '91It snowed approximately 28.4 inches (2.4 feet) in the Twin Cities/Metro area, and 36.9 INCHES in Duluth (3.1 feet) (Up North). I remember it so well!I was only like 3 and was SO disappointed we could go Trick or Treating. So cool though!LOVE MINNESOTA! ...It only sucks when I gotta work in a blizzard (like last Friday) and people keep coming in ALL NIGHT (I work the Overnight). It's like, "It's 2 in the morning, and you are seriously driving in this weather for smokes and Mountain Dew?!" "User"
It's like, "It's 2 in the morning, and you are seriously driving in this weather for smokes and Mountain Dew?!" Hey, if you have a caffeine or smoking addiction and you need run of out smokes or soda...you kind of HAVE too... I remember this chick who was begging me at 3 am recently to drive her somewhere and buy her smokes when I was with my GF watching a movie geez... >_<
El Zorro de la Estrella
Yeah, I spose...But it's never someone nice or whatev, it's always some punk kids Back OT: for some reason the college I go to almost never closes in blizzard type conditions. It's very strange, considering that a large number of the student body live off campus and drive here. O_o
CrypticQuery
Unfortunately, snow doesn't affect much here in Queens, as it is a normal occurrence . The main roads are usually cleared, but every single side street, dead-end, and other minor roadways usually stay untouched by the city's snowplows. Vixie Darkmatter
If it keeps going on like this here everyone will have to dig their way out of their front doors. It's awful, and the ice that the plows are causing from packing the snow is only making things worse.
