Disposition and attitudes towards more mature (ex. yiff) art in StarFox?

I had this discussion with some friends via IM channels a few weeks ago so I thought it might make some interesting discussion here.  I'm confident in all of you (I hope) that we can remain "professional" about this but any "mature" comments are subject to be edited or deleted.

My view on yiff in Star Fox is that, quality wise, it's not that much different from "normal" fanart/fan fictions etc.  Some of it very well done and appealing to the eye while some is complete crap and isn't even worth viewing.  I do have a beef with the significant amount of attention it receives.

So gentlemen (and ladies), your opinions?

Heh, you know my view on this, but I might as well post it. When seen, Krystal seems to be focused on more than if a guy or someone was in it too, and I wish that they gave the males the same respect as Krystal. But sadly, Krystal is just how they drag people into the furry community sometimes, so eh. Lol.

Either way though, I agree with you. Some is done really well, and others are just crud.

I've never seen any of this good quality appealing to the eye yiff art of which you speak. Mostly because I never actually look for it. Although I will see a quick glance here and there of some of the crude badly done art. So my opinion is if you can't do it right, then don't do it at all.

And when Krystal is the subject of it, I get quite nauseous, and am tempted to bleach my eyes.

Speaking of the blue vixen, she also is responsible for a sizable % of Star Fox fans since 2002.  I'd go as far to say that nearly a majority are fans of Star Fox because of her.

Specifically yes, it would.  But, from my past experience as an admin on the KLA an easy majority of more "die hard" Krystal fans are also fans of Star Fox in general.

I rage about this subject lots because either extremity has lots of crowning moments of stupidity. Examples:

This is usually the "moral" stance of it. Ironically, it also happens to mostly come from Krystal fans, making it also a hilarious case of denial. As I've told ajc plenty of times, Krystal is top tier furry hotness and that means that a good chunk of the fanbase was split apart by her very introduction. All the old school fans know what I'm talking about, Krystal's debut pretty much made a great divide in the fandom between those who liked the game, and the many who were made a furry by the series or more specifically, Krystal. Since such a gigantic portion of the fanbase came here for boobies, that's what they'll stay for. Want evidence? Look at any furry art site ever, or better yet, the Krystal Archive. Note it's hundreds and hundreds of fanart entries, and then let your mind be blown by the fact that the website doesn't include porn, which waaaaaaaayyyy outnumbers clean work. So yes. Yiff is important to the starfox fandom on the mere fact that that's what a ton of them are here for, and this held true since before even Krystal. I site Dermot as a source, and the inside joke Katt fanboys had about her legs, although that was a tad different.

Then you have the side that defends the yiff religiously. These are the sort of people who don't seem to realize that their favorite source of porn actually comes from a decent videogame that, at face value (and not counting anything Krystal's done) has no sexual overtones. These are the people who sort of have their own idea entirely what Star Fox is, and it's a lot less about saving the universe and more about bonin' in the sleaziest ways possible. Bonus points if they have rarely or never played the games and/or is a fanfic writer. These people are the reason some older fans pretend anything from Adventures onward didn't happen. I'd say this group is just as rage worthy as the type above who pretend yiff is entirely bad and destructive to the fandom while ignoring the facts, because this group doesn't even know there IS a fandom.

The only stance that doesn't often set off my idiot alarm are those at a nice neutral, whether that be indifference or balance. Fact is StarFox is, or at least was, a badass series, and fact also is that certain characters have earned their spot in the furry fandom as a whole and they've done that for a REASON. Denying it makes you look like a kid and refusing to pay respects to it's sources makes you look like a sleazeball.

Yiff, and porn in general, tends to gross me out, but I can tolerate it just fine. People seem to be really sensitive about sexuality, which I blame on Western Puritanical roots, and I think it's about time we get over it.

To quote Rei,, from Breath of Fire III: "I'm just like a little kid, yeah? If you tell me to sit down, it just makes me want to run around more." I would argue that a lot of our obsession with pornography, whether it's "I hate it" or "I love it" tends to be in reaction to that Puritanical forbidding.

I never really look at Yiff, save glancing at the occasional picture that shows up on Google-Images (Because I leave safe-search OFF). Really I don't see much difference between Yiff and metro-colored hentai. In terms of Starfox Yiff, it's just the result of horny fan-boys that know how to draw. Simple as that.

Yeah... I personally Can't Stand Yiff intend for obvious sensual purposes. A week ago i was getting abit tired of the lack of good quality krystal Fanart in the fanart sub-forum. And Decided that the patience wasn't worth the reward, and Simply went to DA and Searched through large list of Krystal Fanart.

Most of them... Sickening all the way down to the bone under my skin. But I had to Admit, Even the Some of The ones with revealing areas (Excluding the 3d model made by LittleDragon which was probably somewhere around %40-50 of the Artwork in the list) Had alot of Detail in the Characters with much Artist value, a fair amount of them i... did, download to my collection of drawn artwork in a folder on my Harddrive. This is a talent i look to as an inspiration for my own Drawings, Even though they're stenceled and not ver good, I still look for artwork with good shading and realistic features of prints that i could use as refrences.

In short, I don't think all starfox fanart Inlcuding Nudity is something to shun...
