sjrathbun812
To me your guns are great. I stink at drawing them. They always come out so blocky and un-unique. It's partially because I'm not that good yet. But I know that many people have a hard time drawing guns like many do with hands.
EchoFox
They can be really tricky. A lot of it comes down to familiarity. You can look at pictures for reference, but until you actually handle weapons and get experience, and especially actually understand how they operate, important details are going to be missed. Having said this, I think we should stress it's Star Fox, so there is no right or wrong way to do things really. Well except there is. The blaster and machine gun in SF Assault were awful, the blaster because it didn't have sights and both of them for not having stocks. Even on an energy weapon that has no recoil at all (which the Assault weapons clearly do), a stock is required to achieve balance in the aim, and to aid control by acting as another point of contact with the body. This results in greater precision. This is why 'bad guys' are often depicted with stock-less weapons, blind firing round corners or over cover, usually on automatic, whilst 'good guys' are typically depicted with great, consistent weapons control, always going for aimed shots, making for a more professional appearance. sjrathbun812
Oh cool, and it's in the Adventures style, too. Fox always was my fav. character.
myu
Thanks :> I was trying to come up with something that could have been used in Assault that wouldn't have been such a drastic outfit change.
EchoFox
Awesome, really like the expression and dynamic pose. By the way, is it just me, or are Fox's boots in Adventures enormous, given that most humanoid people have really thin ankles relative to the rest of their legs. I guess he's just got a ton of ankle support going on there.
sjrathbun812
Well, he is a fox...He probably is going to have bigger feet. xD
Asper Sarnoff
Well, he is a fox...He probably is going to have bigger feet. xD Fox feet are actually pretty tiny. But then, they have digigrade legs, which almost always have smaller feet than plantigrade legs. All the characters in the SF franchise are plantigrade. When anthromorping animals, there's two main routes one can go with their feet. Either scaling up the animals footprint, which means the foot will be about twice as wide as that of a human foot of the same length, or giving them humanised feet. Starfox itself have gone booth ways. Adventures was chunky, fuzzy feet, and it was all humanised for Assault.
sjrathbun812
^ Yeah. So if he's a furry fox then his feet are going to be big if they aren't humanised...At least that's what I think. You actually never do see his feet in the games.
myu
Well, the way I see it, it's not that his ankles are huge. It's probably more like his shoes are up to his ankles, then there's that metal thing over them, adding even more bulk. Plus, you wouldn't want them to be skin tight or it would be uncomfortable. chaos_Leader
I figured the metal plating around the ankle is more like an additional overlay that encases the snug fabric portion of the boot, similar to a pair of metal gaiters, whereas the actual boot is more one piece, similar to contemporary steel-toed boots worn by military pilots and vehicle crews, also known as "tanker boots". The boot and metal gaiter of this idea are more designed to function as one piece than separately though. The all-metal boot shown in SF/SF64 is a ludicrously flawed design on many levels, not the least of which is the fact that it'd be extraordinarily uncomfortable. More on Tanker Boots: The main purpose of military tanker boots is to prevent major foot/ankle injury in the event of a vehicle crash or other sudden heavy machinery related impact since they've got their feet jammed up in the workings all the time, and sometimes things break (this is also why tanker boots do not have laces, which could snag on hardware). This means that unlike ordinary combat boots, tanker boots don't have to be lightweight (they're not walking around all day), and are often built to withstand not only impact, but also be waterproof, and highly resistant to acids and corrosion (again: machinery, and their feet all up in it). I see the ubiquitous Star Fox boot as simply a continuation of this design concept into a science fiction setting.
Drasiana
Rosie the Riveter Katt = YES Adventuresy Fox = YES. His eyes look a little off-centre though...but god damn, your clothing detail is so fantastic. ^ Yeah. So if he's a furry fox then his feet are going to be big if they aren't humanised...At least that's what I think. You actually never do see his feet in the games. You see Krystal's, though, and she has paws. Fox's feet didn't seem exceptionally huge in Adventures, though...they were proportionate to his body, which was in general pretty short and stocky. Asper Sarnoff
That looks mighty good indeed. Real shame the W7 Photo Viewer doesn't want to show your pictures properly when I download them to my desktop for some reaon. You see Krystal's, though, and she has paws. Fox's feet didn't seem exceptionally huge in Adventures, though...they were proportionate to his body, which was in general pretty short and stocky. I think we actually had a several page long thread discussing whether or not Fox had 3 or 5 toes on each foot. Don't get me wrong, I think Fox's design in Adventures was great. Best he ever looked. myu
Do they show up all stretched/skinny when you try to preview them? I haven't had that problem after I've uploaded them, but for some reason the program I use to save them skews the preview file. You might have to try opening me pictures in paint or something D:

You might have to try opening me pictures in paint or something D: Yes, they've shown up so far in everything but Photo Viewer. Which is kind of annoying given that is, as the name implies, what I use to view photos with. Solved the problem though. Appearantly some programs changes the Horizontal and vertical resolution dpi values when they save pictures. This wouldn't be a problem normally, because those are hardly ever used for anything. Windows just decided to have a brainfart and make the photo viewer rely on it however. Worked around it however. Using Gimp, setting up a new picture file, and trough print screen and pasting, I can now view them as they should be.
myu
Oh good Also, I'm expanding on that Fox picture I did a couple days ago. The sketch isn't done, but people seem to like in-progress stuff, so here it is: EDIT: updating picture because I finished the sketch Annnd, the references I'm using for the background http://www.krantzrec...se_interior.jpg http://farm1.static...._11c5440f4d.jpg http://www.kingandbe...%20Interior.jpg http://image.shutter...to-49232923.jpg (this one will probably be better for later when/if I get around to coloring it) I also just realized that this is probably a good way to go about learning to draw cities o:
