Steve
The first batch is freeware, that's allowed, the second batch, however, is not. Nova, be careful on what you post because your definition of "free" is not so "free" if you are giving away, let's say, copies of windows, it would fall into the piracy realm, unless of course, you paid for them.In other words, unless the program is strictly freeware, trial version , or anything else falling into the category, do not post it here. Sabre
7zip is better then winrar if you are just opening files imo.I still can not find a good movie-effects program for free.I don't think any exsist that are good. The 'best' ones can cost up to 3 grand. There should be a more consumer level product.Juice Podcatcher is good. How it the one Nova posted anybody know? Also, list needs VLC, best media player ever. Fedora
I would also recommend Malwarebytes Anti-Malware. http://www.malwarebytes.org/ This baby kills whatever Avast or other big-name anti-viruses miss. I use this as a combo with Avast. Avast finds it, Malwarebytes kills it. I would use only Malwarebytes except that it works on-demand. So rather than having an ongoing shield, it scans only when you start it itself. Still very powerful, it's saved my comp from many a normally comp-breaking virus. Asper Sarnoff
Frostwirehttp://download.cnet.com/FrostWire/3000-2196_4-10627624.html?tag=mncolShare LEGAL files easily over the Gnutella NetworkI don't know about legal... The whole reason Frostwire was made was because Limewire, which it's based on, was forced to include blocking code in the program, reducing the sharing of warez, and ultimately shot down earlier this year. I doubt more than a handfull of Frostwires users use it for anything else than pirating songs.

Fluxy
It is legal to share songs you already purchased with friends. This is a client to do that. I dont support downloading songs from people you dont know. Thats illegal! Wait wait wait. I know I am not the most informed on laws, but that just sounds horribly wrong. So, I say I now you, and it is okay to download a song you fairly purchased. But, if I didn't know you, and you still purchased it fairly, it is illegal? That sounds a little wrong. I don't think this thread in all was a good idea, but that is my blunt opinion for the sake of laws and rules. This will give others the idea to do this, and only start making SFO into a transferring center for free stuff that deserves to be bought, and then start really heading into legality issues. Other than that, I'm not too sure on P2P sharing programs being listed here as well.

Frostwire came 4 years after.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LimeWireNo matter. While I'm slightly sceptical about having that program listed here, it's not inherently an "evil" piece of software, and I'll let it stay.Okie i removed Frostwire. Sorry Don't worry Nova. We know you'r only trying to help, and a lot of those programs up there are really nifty to have. I use several of them myself.

Malwarebytes along with Spywarebot (which is also free) made a real difference for fixing what was left of the user IP in that thing, Practically EVERYTHING in that hard drive was corrupted to sh!t... Fedora
7-zip and avg free are both great programs that should be added to this list!7-zip is a good free RAR program. AVG..... Well.... In my opinion, it actually sucks despite being well-known. All times I had installed AVG there was a noticeable lag in my computers as it ate up resources. Also, it had more holes in its security than a barrel of swiss cheese. While I'm also on 7-Zip and RAR Archives, anyone notice that WinRAR's "trial" never seems to run out?
