Only two days left and we'll know!

Do you guys want to tell us if you prefer the prime series over other m or the other way round orrrrr.... will this break into a flamewar?

Most people have very strong opinions on this matter so I'm not sure. (If you check out my latest samus pic on devart you pretty much know my position)

Either way, seeing that Sakamoto sees the Prime series as not part of the official canon anymore (seriously wtf man) this might be another oldschool 2d metroid if he has anything to say.

More Metroid already? I haven't even played Other M yet.

As far as Metroid games go, none will ever top Super Metroid. Prime and Zero Mission came pretty damn close though.

Oh I loved Zero Mission. Definitely one of my favorites.

I haven't heard anything about a 3ds Metroid though. Might be interesting.

Woo! Metroid! My other favorite game series! Also, never played other M, I heard it was good, but that there was no point buying it cause it was so short a rental would be fine.

A new Metroid game? Do we not have enough of those as it is right now?

There's only 9 games in the series, counting the Prime games (and of that, counting Hunters). That's not a lot given the series is over 20 years old.

I agree with Rob on this one, I mean, check out Mario, Pokemon, Call of Duty/Halo games, all that good stuff.

Nothing against the 3D Prime games, but I think we're overdo for another side-scrolling Metroid game.

Why not? Castlevania still gets mostly 2D games, not to mention Mario, Megaman, & Sonic recently delved back into the 2D genre, so why not Samus?

Update: Bad news everyone. Jonathan Ross denies that he was referring to Metroid in regards to that tweet.

Other M was primarily a side scroller. That said, I've been wanting a 2.5D Metroid game since the DS came out.

I wouldn't mind seeing a new 2D Metroid game. If they did do that, I hope that it would be a sequel to Metroid Fusion, I would love to see where that goes seeing how Samus might be a fugitive after that game.

It could be this http://wii.ign.com/articles/114/1144834p1.html

I assumed as much when I saw the trailer for it.

This is exactly how I feel. Metroid has taken off a bit since the Metroid Prime series.

And this is why I should have beat Metroid Fusion before that happened.....*facepalm*

I wouldve loved to see a metroid prime-styled game in 2d...kinda like that fangame, yeah...

But it doesn't HAVE to be a remake.

Seeing Metroid characters in Dead or Alive is a personal nightmare of mine.
