Guest Mr. Mario
(This topic might go to the counter point but let's just see how it goes...)Sublinimal messages, you probably have heard of them, you probably haven't. What are they? Sublinimal messages are some things that to some people they hear some things on Music on CDs, Movies and sometimes games. There is also image sublinimal messages whereas in that case, if you looked closely, upside down or whatever at a image such as the Coca-Cola logo, it would reveal something sublinimal. The question for this is, do you believe in them or do you think 'What sublinimal messages? I don't hear any...'Some examples of sublinimal messages are like:The reversed Led Zeppelin song "Stairway to Heaven"(It may look more like a YTP...) A Japanese McDonalds commerical where someone has edited one part of it and that part keeps repeating like a cycle, eventually finding the "Bad word(s)" it says

"The question is, do you believe in sublinimal messages or do you think there really is no such thing as them? Do you think the people who claim to hear things in some stuff are crazy or right? Milkyway64
Power of suggestion. Very few subliminal messages are actually getting through in their secretive states. We can't perceive that.
Sabre
There is no evidence that subliminal messaging works, and most of it is just paradolia anyway (that's seeing/hearing things that aren't really there. eg. Seeing a face in the moon, or shapes in the clouds. It's not really a cloud rabbit, just kind of looks like one)That doesn't mean various companies haven't tried. The most famous recent example was in Iron Chef when a logo for McDonalds flashed on the screen. When viewers who noticed complained they claimed it was a technical glitch. In case you were wondering, no above average sales of McDonalds followed.
Vy'drach
I actually had one of those when I was 4. I don't hear it saying anything myself. Not that Disney Studios hasn't done things like that before, though. Such as two famous ones in Aladdin, where there appears a naked woman in one of the windows in the magic carpet scene (too fast to see on normal speed), or, also when on the magic carpet, during the singing you can hear, "Take off your clothes" if you listen carefully in the back ground. As for the Led Zepplin, unless a whole message is revealed when the song is played backwards, I just believe it's people grabbing at straws. Nope.
As Milkyway said, it's just suggestion. The story about the subliminal messages in Stearway To Heaven is basically one of the biggest example of "People that don't like good music backwarding a song and putting new words while getting too much carried by their immagination".I would like to write more about this, but it's not going to end really well.OMG he said "SATAN"! WE ARE ALL GOING TO DIEEEE! AAAAAAAH!

I know the preist with a boner in little mermaid, and the bit in Who Framed Roger Rabbit lazer disc version where you see Jessicas naughty bits. There is a disney film that had nipples clearly visable in it. Fantasia. No body noticed or cared until recently. Those aren't subliminal messages though as they aren't saying anything. There is one toy that apparently says praise alah or something.

It was definitely a real life image of a woman in the window that goes by way too quick to see normally. It was removed in later versions, however. And I think that toy is probably this one. Sabre
Subliminal in that you don't notice it, in that case it's more along the lines of an easter egg or those microscopic CPU drawings I forget the name of.However, it's not a subliminal MESSAGE in that it doesn't tell you anything or try to have an effect. Its not like that scene in fightclub where he flash frames penises into kids films to make a everybody cry.On the paridolia thing, here's a 5 minute podcast about it.http://www.theskepticsguide.org/archive/podcastinfo.aspx?mid=2&pid=

Matrilwood
Subliminal Messages are things that paranoid humans look for to support their belief that something is trying to control them. e.g. the song "Silent whispers in the dark" When played backwards, a normal person will hear, "Krad ef ni srepsiwt nelis" However a crazy person would figure that since the first word "Krad" kind of sounds like "God" they would immediately assume that it's a subliminal message about God and their paranoid imagination would run wild.
