Save Starfox!

Slowly, the black-clad bounty hunter in the back roose up and walked slowly trough the room. "The name's Morgan Kane, pup. Remember it." He growled as he passed by the cheetah who had just spoken up. Pepper looked like he was on the limit of his patience, just about to object and have the guy thrown out head first. As the doors slammed shut behind the lupine, he spoke up.

"You'll have to excuse Mr. Kane. Apart from the team you'll be making up, we've also hired a couple of solo bounty hunters. He's one of them. His contract binds him to share any knowledge which might lead to the successfull completion of the mission with you, so you'll benefit from his work in the field."

The silence as the hound stopped talking made it quite clear none believed Kane would remember that exact part of the contract.

"Mr. Toranis suggestion however is a good one. You still have..." Pepper said as he cast a glance at his watch. "A few minutes before your vehicles leave. I suggest you get aquainted with each other in the meantime. I'll have to leave now, but will most definatively check in on the investigation whenever I can. Goodbye, and best of luck." He finished with a wave of a hand before stepping down and dissapearing trough a door with a small score of bodyguards, leaving the bounty hunters alone with a dozen suit-clad men from the Agency.

(In about the same time tomorrow, we'll be leaving for the next scene. In the meantime, interact with each others characters, and get to know them as best you can. Remember, these are the guys you'll be working with for the foreseeable future. Act as you would in a real life situation.)

Blaze raised an eyebrow at Kane's attitude as he walked past, and out of the room, before turning back to Pepper. Upon Pepper's departure, he looked around at each of the mercenaries and bounty hunters present. "Well, I may as well go first... the name's Blaze Toranis, some people just call me 'Spots'. Technically I fly solo, but I usually get paired with teams of some sort anyway."

"Spots, eh?" Feila piped up cheerily. "I like that one! I won't tell you what they call me back home." She giggled a little but the joke went over like a lead balloon. She swept up a bright pink and purple coloured lock of loose bangs and slipped them behind her ear selfconciously. "Anyways, I'm Feila. I haven't been doing this very long, but I'll pull my weight, don't worry about that."

Steve also approached the others. "My name is Steve McKarter, my codename is 'Grey', from my, er... previous job. I signed up for this to help Star Fox.I don't mind working in either solo or team terms. I don't even mind if I don't get anything in return for helping save Star Fox.I hope we all get along"

He nodded at random, then walked back a bit. He wished he had called his team to be with him in here. He again put his mask on as one of the CAF guards walked by.

"The name's Butch here, just Butch. I cannot really say much about myself other than I was raised to bounty hunting by my dad who...sadly passed away a long time ago." He introduced himself to the new member that entered the room, Morgan Kane.

"Don't try anything funny while we're all here." Butch added.

(Kane just left the room Mr. N. Don't worry about correcting your post, just wanted to make it clear.)

The conversation was put to an end as a large, suit-clad dobberman spoke up to the group. "Your vehicles are ready. Please follow me outside." He said, signaling for them to come with him.

As the group passed trough the outer doors and into open air, three large, black sedans were waiting for them. As the bounty hunters by turn got inside and took a seat, they couldn't help but notice how abnormally thick the tinted windows where, and how heavy the doors moved on their hinges. Behind the wheel of each sedan sat yet more expressionless agents. As the doors closed behind the last passengers with a loud thud, the vehicles started to slowly roll foreward. A pair of black SUV's joined them, making up the front and the rearguard of the convoy.

(Feel free to continue chatting in the vehicles. They are all fitted with intercom systems, so feel free to talk with those not in the same car as you as well. We'll reach the destination later today.)

As the vehicles started to move, Blaze tapped the window slightly. "Pepper wasn't kidding, he doesn't want us to know where the place is. Frankly, if this wasn't Pepper, I'd be getting wary at this point."

Steve sat comfortably beside a car window. The tinted glass made it hard to see exactly what's outside. This is both an advantage and a disadvantage in a way, Steve thought, as not knowing where the place will prevent spies among their midst knowing very classified information, but the true participants not knowing the location can be a bit of a... Steve cut the thought. He couldn't think of any disadvantages, if any, does not knowing the location has. He is still wondering whether it was a good condition to come here by himself, or should he have brought his team along. What if something happened to him, and his comrades and team leader are very worried about him, not knowing his fate? But that's not the problem now, Steve thought. If he really wanted to help save starfox, he'd risk anything.

'Maybe I'll send them a message as we get to the location', Steve thought, thinking that the team ought to know what he's up to, so in case something happens to him, the team will understand.

As he sat, he slowly fell asleep.

With a slight sigh, Blaze turned to the person in the car with him. "So, what about you? What do you think of all this?"

Felia bounced lightly in the seat, trying to contain her energy. Finally they were getting somewhere! She peered into the rear-view mirror, wondering if she knew any of the anonymous looking agents that were driving them.

(Okay, heading out into the field tomorrow. Fira will lead on by herself from here. Have fun people!)

(why? I know its been slow so far but we're working on it.)

Felia's bouncing had gone from excitement to boredom. She figited and picked at the bare threads in the knees of her jeans, she tried to lean forward and look out the window, anything except sitting there for even another minute. The drive couln't have been more than an hour, but to her it felt like ages. She would rather have ran there than this.

Finally, the sedans began to slow, heralding the approach of their destination. Felia sat forward expectantly in the seat, hoping that she might catch a glimps of whatever was to come.

They pulled into an underground parking lot, and the doors were opened for them. Everyone bundled out, and were escorted to an elevator into a very large, open room. The room's walls sloped out, and were made of glass, and then turned to metal and sloped back in, giving the room a very unnatural look. Outside could be seen nothing but endless water, telling Feila that they had been brought out to an island far from Corneria City. At three points in the room the glass was gone in favour of sliding doors. One of the doors opened on their arrival to reveal a female poodle, dressed in CDF field gear and looking incredibly peppy. She didn't advance, but stepped out of their way in order to allow them entry into the room she had been in.

"Hello everyone, and thank you for volunteering for this mission on such sort notice, come into the breifing room and let's get started." The new team did as instructed, and soon they were all seated around a long table, with the poodle as it's focus.

"My name is Faye, some of you may have heard of me, I'll be heading up this expedition. So far, we don't have much to go on, but Morgan Kane has gone ahead of you and he's assured me that any information that he finds will be passed on to us.

'Now, what we do have, is the last transmission from the Star Fox team."

She pressed a button, and a video clip came up on the screen behind her. When she played it, all that could be heard was a few snippits of voice amongst heavy static and corrupted sound.

"As you can see, this file is useless to us. It was damage before it reached CDF command. However, it was not a direct transmission, it's been traced back to a communications satellite inside the Beltano asteroid belt. Our first course of action, therefore, will be to go to the asteroid belt and retrieve the satellite, so that we can download the original message. Since it's a high powered signal satellite, it may help us to find out whether or not they are still within the system, or if they have been taken abroad.

We are currently inside our base of operations, it's a newly built, small space station that we will use to reach our destination, and it will be convienient enough for us to do our business. We'll be taking off immediately for the asteroid belt, so be prepared for some turbulence.

Any questions?"

"Just one - you DID transport our ships here, right? If things get dicey out there, I won't be much help without the Spotflash. For all we know there's an ambush waiting for us to try and get that info from the satellite."

Blaze thought back to his ship for a moment. The Spotflash of the current day was actually the third craft to bear that name. The first had been dismantled during the Lylat Wars, an event that had long haunted Blaze's memory for a few reasons. The 2nd Spotflash had been a spectacular ship with peerless speed and handling, due to a unique engine and G-diffuser layout. That ship, however, had also been dismantled, but for a much better cause, in a conflict between the Aparoid Invasion and the Anglar Blitz. The result had been the craft he flew now, designed by a template, but Blaze had made his own modifications since the Owari Deception. The new designs from the brilliant minds involved in those battles had taken features of his own Spotflash's designs and improved upon them, incorporating them into one of a few "template" designs from which a small series of craft had been assembled for those involved.

Following the conflicts, Blaze had continued his own improvements to the ship as time went on, upgrading and improving when technology and money permitted. To go into a mission of this magnitude without it was daunting, to say the least. If they were right, and the Star Fox team had been ambushed, or deceived, or what-have-you, they would need to be ready for absolutely anything.

"Of course," Faye replied, "this thing is very small for a station, but it'll be useless to try and navigate the heart of the belt with it. Everyone who has a personal craft has been accomidated in the hanger, and there are two CDF issue fighters fully serviced in case of emergency. I'm assuming everyone here is proficient in space flight, otherwise for this mission we will have to double up or leave a man behind."

There was a slight rumble that went through the ship, strong enough to cause the water glasses on the table to shimmy slightly to the right.

"Just us breaking through Corneria's atmosphere," Faye explained brightly. "Dampeners have come so far. I remember during the Lylat Wars, a launch like this would have made you sick as a beaver."

Blaze shrugged. "Most of the time I don't leave in anything much bigger than the Spotflash... never like a station like this though. Closest thing to this I've travelled in would be a Heracles-class super-carrier, and even then, probably about as close as pineapples and beachballs."

He reached for a glass of water from the table. "So what do you think? Think maybe we'll grab the info from this satellite without any trouble, or are you expecting any complications?"

"That's a problem we'll have to deal with when we get there, it all depends on whether or not any of the security devices on the old base out there still work, since it's located within the bases' defence range. Kane has gone ahead, and he hasn't yet sent back any reports of problems, so it looks good for us so far. If we recieve word of any issues arising for him during our 6 hour trip, you'll be breifed on them before heading out."

Steve raised his hand before speaking. "Maybe Kane has not seen any problems yet. But do you think we should plan our approach to the satellite? I mean, just one or two ships will get to the satellite as the others are guarding not too far away? I mean, maybe we're not the only trying to get info on the Star Fox, plus we can expect an ambush ahead."

Silence dawned over him again. He was aware that CAF might have thought of this already, this mission concerning the Star Fox and all. He felt that was a stupid thing to say. Anyone who will go on a mission would have thought as much. But Steve wanted to make sure, and never regretted asking it.

(Sorry it's been quiet, i was hoping to give others a chance to post)

"That is a good idea, just be ready to edit your plans if any news comes down. I'm not going out with you, so you'd best better talk amongst yourselves."

Felia, who had been mostly quiet, seemingly unfocussed, suddenly sat forward in her seat, 100% intent. "I want to be on the team that retirieves the sattelite. Is that okay with everyone?"

Blaze nodded. "Fine by me, I'd be more useful outside on guard anyway." He noted the sudden change in her demeanor, but decided not to say anything for now. "Actually, I do have one question - this satellite, is it an installation kind of thing, or is it more like a big floating computer that we'd just have to literally collect and bring back here?"

(Sorry for double post, as you know we can't delete posts here..)

"I'd prefer the latter, actually. If it's of big size, then we can deliver it more safely in case there are enemies trying to get hold of this, because they'd think twice before firing. Unless of course, they don't care about the thing. Then an installation kind of thing would be better. If my idea will be implemented, I'd go with the guarding team. If someone would inject a better idea, then let it out"

Steve then leaned back unto his seat. If his idea would be the one used, he don't wanna be the sort of leader, because he is inexperienced. He crossed his fingers for someone to inject a better idea or plan.
